  1. Starion 87 is a mechanic, it took 10mins to do a rear coil be5, im a subaru dealer mechanic, even the easiest ej plug set takes 10mins. If you can actually do the full set open bonnet to close bonnet in 5mins you should open your own shop
  2. A aid is something that actively overrides the drivers input, usually to keep the car from yawing or sliding. your actions dictate what ayc does, not the other way around. Vdc, traction control, abs, ebd are aids, would you consider dccd an aid?
  3. In terms of service its not to different, ive worked at both a mitsubishi amd subaru dealer, evo 456 gearboxes are easy, 123 isn\'t to bad but 789 are dogs of things as the transfer goes over the front sub frame, you have to really push the engine forward to get the box out. Anyone that says evo spark plugs take as long as a subaru are on some good shit, share some with me!. Also ayc isnt a driving aid, it helps prevent mid corner understeer. Such a good idea that audi have taken the concept and applied it to rs models with the optional sports diff. Rs4s go sideways in the wet haha
  4. All depends on what you want, id pick stis over evos for purely unmodified road cars, for cars with decent engine mods evo over sti up to ver 8 from then on pretty even. Evo has more power potential on the standard hardware, sti is much more user friendly out of the box
  5. What route are you taking? and there could be good money in a set of rims if you have room?
  6. Yeah good improvement over the normal front bench seats
  7. Yeah I p.d checked a N1WRC wrx on friday, basicly the same as thenz spec r seats but in blue suade
  8. The OP had a jdm 2lt correct? So not the same car as the link has 2.5 in it
  9. For me it was a hard choice between the ver 1-2 wrx in RA form because of it\'s pure basic light weight no side skirts no wing look mad the ver 6 the most refined and last of the classic shape. But ver 6 won because of the great headlights and the tasteful facelift they gave the impreza
  10. Think it\'s a issue of cars of this era, my 2001 rsk had the same issue
  11. those early cars were fully jap specd gsr\'s with the performance pack, and the 5 speed was used becuase of the reduced box size vs 6 speed with the same gear width. I was one of the first people to drive them in Nz was quite a buzz for me back then
  12. Proportions slightly off but I like it much better than the current wrx and sti. I might sound sick but I really like the current impreza sedan, the premium sedan in silver almost looks like a BE b4
  13. I spent 5 years at a mitsubishi dealer as a workshop team leader so I know a thing or two about 4g63, the primary issue with the crank walking is that evo 4 on are fitted with heavier clutch than earlier cars, then when worn get even heavier clutches fitted putting more stress on the bearings add that they switched to pull release thats slightly sprung loaded to keep the bearing clip coming loose
  14. evo 4 engine\'s are actually stronger than evo 3 engines, the only reason they get a bad rep is thatt having a larger factory turbo when the boost gets turned up to much by cowboys they dont last as long as a older engine, also the crank trust bearing wear issue is there in the evo 1 2 3
  15. Evo 5 and 6 s*** on the last of the gc8s no way! i smoked a evo 6 with my old gc8 sti tests carried out at the time would say otherwise, theres much more to performance than a one time street drag race
  16. this is a pretty good summary, Evos in general are much more track/ abuse ready and are very corse in some areas
  17. yes wider torque band, but to be honest evo 7/8/9 and sti 7/8/9 are pretty well matched when it comes to JDM on JDM models, most of the best motoring reveiws of the time showed the RA or Spec C having a VERY slight edge over the evo RS or MR\'s and the evo GSR being slightly faster than the normal sti. Evo 5 and 6 shit on the last of the gc8s
  18. in my personal experiance with evos (5 years in a dealer workshop) its probly melted a edge of a piston or cracked a ring land
  19. Ahhhh no its not, not sure where you got that figure from, even the top spec auto jdm brz is 1250kg, i think the basic toyota is 1210kg.
  20. That power is low, and i think those things run a bar standard
  21. Thats a good point, it seems the BH/BE's are by far the worst, two got put in at work this week alone, Does a longer wheel base make for a greater differential in front and rear wheel speed on turns
  22. These things are becoming thin on the ground, i personally wouldnt fit a second hand one, it seems a matter of when they fail rather than if......
  23. dude rolling a car doesnt turn the interior into 100's and 1000's
  24. I also agree with the resistor fault as a possible, but unlikley given it doesnt go on full
