  1. Interestingly my car can be turned off completely with the kill switch, yet a licensed MSNZ scrutineer wrote into my log book that I had to *remove* my turbo timer, not just turn if off when racing.
  2. I don't get what you're saying !! I'm getting mixed messages from you man That Light Weight Shock proof stuff ( $36 a liter I think it was ) is the stuff that I got, and from BNT, they recommended it. And I'm sure Tony said somewhere here that he runs it. But that really is interesting about the diffs though. I think I used Motul for them, also from BNT.
  3. I actually don't think we used it like you're supposed to. We used it between the speaker and the door. Because there was wood there. Which is possibly confusing.
  4. I've got the Re001's. Absolutely love them. Fine in wet and dry. But they don't last. Rubbish wear.
  5. I did think about that, but spares wouldn't fit in my car. So I'd always have to have a support crew. At this stage I think I'll just get some new semi's, and try and remember to rotate them !
  6. Ohh, cool, I was looking at some 235/45, so thanks for the heads up. Now the age old question, which tyres to get Also, I think my tyres were only rotated once, so that probably didn't help things. Lesson learnt. I suppose I could throw a towbar on my daily driver, but I think I'd just prefer to buy more tyres
  7. That's a good point on the diff, didn't think of that. Good news on the oil then !
  8. Cool, I'll wait then. Cheers man. Now all I need is some answers on the camber thingie and the gearbox oil, and I'll be sorted. Oh, and find some semi slicks. I wonder if 235's will fit on my rims.
  9. Ha ! That would be because Al did it Oh no rush, I may just take it somewhere where there's a hoist and get them to sort it out.
  10. I honestly couldn't say about the toe in, I still have the alignment sheet though, so shall check. The tyres are, ummm, Advan semi slicks. Edit: Right, just went and checked, tyres are Advan 032R's. 225/45/17 Toe on front, -1.3mm each side. Camber -2.56 on left -2.41 on right
  11. Yeah we could almost get at it with a spanner, but it's done up super tight. It was up on axle stands, so you reckon the arms would stay there, sweet, let me know when you're free this week and we can attack it. The tyre wear thing though, if I say it has 3 degrees of camber, would that make sense ? Tony saw the alignment sheets, and said it looked fine. But man, it would be annoying if I have to get new tyres every 4000km. Actually, I suppose that isn't too bad as it includes 5-6 events.
  12. So yesterday we decided to change the gearbox oil on my car as I have mentioned before. This brought out three things : 1) When I went to BNT, they convinced me that the Redline Shockproof 75/140 was the oil to get, not 75/90, as that's what they know are run in some race cars. Would they be right on this, or did I just spend a lot more money than I needed to ? 2) Got the car up on jacks, and noticed that this pink K frame was in the way of the bolt to undo to let out the gearbox oil. So it appears you would have to take that off to get to this bolt. However, the K frame is bolted right onto the control arm ( I think that's what it's called ) so if you undo the bolts, I don't know what would be holding the wheel on when it's in the air. What's the story with that ? 3) When it was up, I saw the inside of my right hand side tyre. It's down to metal !! All the rubber has been ripped off to about 3 inches in, and the belt is showing pretty much all the way around. It was aligned about 1000km ago, and the camber etc was setup then as well. What would caused this very strange wear ? The left hand side was also worn, but no where near as much.
  13. Good old jaycar has come to the party ! God I love that place.
  14. Very true. Shall try that.
  15. Oh yeah good point. I meant stuff to go around the speakers ? So foam ? We're going to try and shoehorn some speakers into my friends M5, and suspect we'll need some.
  16. Anyone know where to get that foamy that goes inside of your doors for speakers ? In Wellington ?
  17. You can tie the dog to the fence but you can't stop it barking ?
  18. Cool, thanks for the tips, looks well within my abilities.
  19. Ha ha ha, so there's a dipstick tube ? Jeez, what a novice. Well that makes it all easier. For some reason I thought it would be like changing the diff oil.
  20. That's the plug for the oil to drain out of though right ? What about the one to fill it ? Or is the fill one on the side aswell ?
  21. Yep, I think Reline 75/90 was what I see most people are using. Thanks for the all the advice everyone, and Jon I may hit you up on that. I'm guessing the 22mm bolt is hard to get to ? Or just an extension on a ratchet will do ?
  22. In the absence of any other pointers, I shall give that a go. And take pics.
