  1. Yeah I was assuming it was just cutting a wire or unplugging something... but I don't want to cut the wrong thing
  2. Hey all... is there a way on a BG5 wagon that you can stop the heater unit from dimming when you turn the lights on? I always drive around with the spot lights on, and during the day if you want to use the heater or air con you can't see whats on the screen. You have to turn the spot lights off to see what your doing.
  3. How acurate is that? Anyone have GT and can reel off the factory figures?
  4. Hey all... I have been searching Google and trying to find out the factory 0-100, 100-0 and 1/4 mile time for a BG5 Subaru wagon with no luck. Does anyone have these specs for a manual wagon?
  5. I seen them on trademe... but they have gone from under a grand to over 2 grand which makes me suspect he might have sold them. Plus we don't get our insurance money through till 20th dec
  6. Does look good! Currently I have the factory BBS 16's which I think look pretty good, but yesterday I seen another BG Legacy wagon with 17 or 18" BBS that looked almost identical to the factory 16's! Looked real real good
  7. Only thing about those rims is the cost... you could almost buy new ones for that. The legacy 5 spoke 17's are cheap as chips...
  8. Thanks for that... I really want a set of 18's from a BP legacy.... but they never come up for sale :-\ So might have to go for the 17's. Any different between the legacy 17's with the split spokes and the solid spokes? Hope that makes sense?
  9. I hve a BG5 TT and my one has been making that noise since I have owned the car (well over a year now), no smoke, still boosts fine just makes this crazy noise, sometimes more then others though.
  10. Good point... I never had aircon in my old car Ok... so you won't have warm aircon air... just freezing cold aircon ;D Better then nothing though and replacing the heater core is not a fun or easy job!
  11. Other thing you might want to consider is that not having a heater in your daily driver (assuming this car is a daily) can be a real issue. Those days when it's raining and the humidity is up and all your windows fog up, blowing cold air from the fan ain't going to do nothing. This is the issue I had with the car I looped the heater out of the system. In the end I just man'd up and replaced the faulty heating core.
  12. Nothing will come gushing out from the intercooler when you take it out... if it does you have problems Not all hoses are the same diameter, I did this to an old car. I took of on of the hoses that goes from the engin to the firewall and took it down to the local automotive shop (supercheap, repco etc...) and they sorted me a joiner. They will have extra hoses too if you need it.
  13. Well 4 new 16" tyres, decent directional ones, or maybe get a set of 17's from trademe for cheap and get 4 decent 17" directionals... The factory 17's tend to go for next to nothing on trademe... Just don't know if it's worth going to 17's... if it makes the car handle better, ride better etc...
  14. Oh forgot to say that since I'll be needing 4 new tyres I'm thinking about going to the 17" or 18" alloys... is it worth it?
  15. My BG5 TT Wagon has the factory BBS 16's. Tyres are getting low on it, just noticed a very small (10c piece size) of canvas on 1 tyre. I'm assuming all Subaru Legacy factory alloys will fit? I really want a set of the BP 18's, but not seen a set on a BG to tell whether or not I like them. Anyone have a pic? Also which factory alloys do people reckon look best on the BG's? I do love the BBS's, but can't help thinking unless I lower it, it looks a little sky high, and with Chch roads I don't want to lower right now. Also wanting to keep to factory Subaru mags so I don't have to piss around with insurance, I can just tell them they are factory Subaru alloys. ;D
  16. Hey all... Thought I would post this up. After living in the red zone for quite a number of months in all the silt a few things have happened to my 95 TT Legacy Wagon... Took the poor car in for a WOF not to long ago and the front CV boots were shot. Mechanic said he's seen a fair bit of this recently. I know at the last WOF they were perfect, I was up under the car checking everything out. I put it down to the silt and crap on the road eroding everything... cause now they are pretty perished. Also went down to the supermarket last night, got my stuff then went to start my car... nothing! Turned over but wouldn't fire up! Tried everything, disconnecting the battery, shaking my fist etc but nothing worked. Eventually pulled the fuel pump cover off in the boot and the amount of silt etc was amazing! Gave it a blow out and cleaned the plug and she fired up first time! I guess eventually enough silt had got into the plug for the fuel pump it wasn't getting a signal! I thought I would put this up as a FYI for people... I would hate to think what else the poor car is going through at the moment!?!?! But silt gets everywhere and is super chrossive.
  17. Just run a wire to the + on the battery and ground it somewhere else then it will ALWAYS be on ;D
  18. This, it's exactly what I do and it's easy.
  19. Oh and I also have a BG5 TT Legacy wagon.
  20. I had the exact same issues, starting the car it would crank over very slow, then one day I was driving it and the speedo and rev counter started going nuts. Car died... got a new battery still no luck, replaced the alternator and it fixed the issue. Cranks over very nicely now. I don't know how but it did.
  21. Not hitting the tyre, checked that out. Not to sure what it's made of, it's carpeted on both sides. Although after putting a heavy load in the boot it seems to almost be back to normal again. Must have bent it.
  22. It's not touching the spare tyre holder... already checked that out. I jumped in the back and sat on it and it seems to be sitting a lot flatter. Think it's just bent.
  23. I have tried everything... I even took the whole boot linings out and put them all back in to try and rectify the issue... Still no good
  24. Hey all I have a 95 TT Legacy wagon, noticed something funny about the boot floor. The part that lifts up to reveal the tray thing and the spare tyre doesn't sit flat anymore!? The half closest to the back of the car doesn't sit flat, it sits up and the very edge where you get it sits up about 30mm. The half closest to where the hinges are seems to be fine. Is there any metal that can bend out of shape in this part? I did flip it upside down and try bending it back the other way, but it didn't seem to make any difference...
  25. Jealous! I want that exact car with those wheels but in silver, manual and leather interior! ;D
