  1. You were right Rex-Leggy, got the sports tuff clutch today (overnight courier from Christchurch to Wellington) opened the box and it has silver plate instead of pink one. Thanks to everyone for their input!
  2. Yep, bought the clutch today on trade me through the japrace seller so we will see if the plate is 'pink' or 'silver'. Either way, has to be way better than the 3 puk I have now for driveability and no more 'thunk' on the gearbox
  3. Will pm you Stoffa as I am in Wellington (Porirua)
  4. Wanting to know if restrictor pill sizes differ between wrx and stil of this era. Found out that mine didn't have restrictor pill and with help from Ichi Ban sourced one but off a automatic v3 wrx running td04 Are the pills the same size in wrx versus sti? Only getting about 0.7-0.8 bar of boost on standard sti engine running vf28 (No engine modifications, no exhaust) From what I have read on here, should be at least 1 bar or slightly higher? If anyone has one locally they are willing to part with, can come collect today/tomorrow
  5. What was the uprated pressure plate? The first couple of responses mentioned if I buy from the trade me link, I would get the uprated silver plate instead of the standard one that comes with it As quoted from rex-leggy "if japrace still has stock you'll get the silver clutch plate which has some extra clamping force (for some reason japan sent them the incorrect units) at no extra price." I appreciate all the feedback/responses so far. Just over this 3 puk clutch. Looks like it will be that Exedy hd clutch on trade me then
  6. Oh, I just chose the next one up from the Exedy website link here http://www.exedy.com.au/ClutchFinder.aspx Chose Subaru and had listed oem and then the next one up has the same part number but with hd next to it.
  7. Yeah, cheapest one I could find on trade me, haven't tried any shops e.g Repco/Bnt Was just seeing if anyone had this exedy hd clutch fitted and could tell me how good they are for daily driving but also whether it holds the power down as well should I decide to go up in power but at the moment 0.9 bar of boost is plenty for me.
  8. Thanks, I'm in Wellington though. I am wondering about price to fit in Wellington/Hutt/Porirua. I am guessing $80-$100 labour + $700 odd for the clutch? Thanks for the replies so far.
  9. Sorry, when I bought the car, I was told the previous seller bought it off another group of people intending to use it for rallying hence the 3 puk clutch but decided not to. Don't know the brand or clamping pressure. What I do know is that I want to change it
  10. I just a want a little bit of slip on the clutch rather than on/off with this 3 puk clutch. Honestly the sound it makes from first gear sounds so harsh in terms of the thud it makes. Once you are driving it from 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th is fine, just 1st gear. Don't see myself using this for track days or drags or anything like that. Just wanting to see what peoples opinions were on this hd exedy one
  11. Currently have stock v3 sti ra but have been told it has 3 puk clutch which is quite harsh on take off unless you get it perfect, on the down change it is also quite harsh and you hear and feel quite a big thud. A quick search on the internet about 3 puk on sti's talks about shock/damage to transmission so would rather change clutch than have transmission rebuilt. Wanting to change this to something less harsh as I intend to keep the car relatively stock but if I decide to increase power, I have a bit head room clutch wise. Looked at oem but also I have been looking at exedy hd clutch FJK-7123HD. Does anyone run this type of clutch and if so, is it all good for daily driving? Approximate price for change of clutch through mechanic? I know looking at trade me the price I can expect to pay for the clutch e.g http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/car-parts-accessories/subaru/clutches/auction-421767498.htm Any help/suggestions/feedback appreciated. Regards
