  1. yeah my friend had it taken in for an inspection... Mechanics don't seem to think it is the clock spring making the ticking as usually that would mean either the airbag light would be on or the horn wouldn't be working??? Also inspection said there was no indication that the cam-belt had been changed yet...
  2. Coronet is horrible atm. Slushy wakeboarding then ice. Remarks and Cardies are better...
  3. I doubt the owner of that will be on here but stranger things have happened... I also saw it yesterday parked on the one-way
  4. were you there over the weekend? thought i saw your car but didnt manage to see number plate... If it was you then the cars looking great man! So envious.........
  5. Sorry I didn't get in contact Palta. Ended up being a very busy week and didn't have spare time for anything xcept boarding...
  6. Thanks, learn something new every day... Will pass the info on and see what happens.
  7. Probably deserves to be in the stupid questions thread but what actually is a clock spring and is it a big deal when looking to purchase a car? It definitely wasn't the CV joint (got out and had mate turn the wheel while i had my head almost in the guard haha, definitely coming from under the surround near the steering wheel or very near there)
  8. The car looks to be in reasonably good condition overall. However there were a couple of things me and my mate have questions about: Firstly the car has a japanese computer n the dash for navigation, however this also is used for display when changing air con and fan modes etc. Can this be removed and replaced with a standard aircon control from a wreckers etc? Secondly, when turning the steering wheel the is a grinding/clicking noise which is fairly consistent when turning either small amounts or lock to lock. Is this a serious issues or purely something catching/rubbing? Any help appreciated, thanks
  9. Agreed haha. I was going to have him up about that when we go look at it...
  10. My mate is looking at buying this car. Is there anything he/I should look for when going to inspect it? http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=502869333
  11. I think they came off version 8/9 sti? but that's guessing, someone who has one could confirm it for you i guess
  12. Keep an eye out on trade me for a genome muffler... Can go for anywhere between $80 and $200 depending on condition and who's selling it
  13. This ^^ now! A friend had a land rover which had some work done on it, got it back and felt wobble and decided was balancing and would be ok for a while...... Kept driving and didn't think anything of it until he saw his right rear wheel cruise past him the next day on the main road at 80+ Garage hadn't fully tightened wheel nuts after the work If wheel nuts all good then I agree with the others and its most probably balancing
  14. I'll be in Q'Town for all of next week providing I can get accommodation sorted... Could be keen for a roady somewhere as a day off from riding and Glenorchy is always a good drive
  15. mmm. the ones like shown in the pic i would agree wipers only... but my old strip went nearly the length of the windscreen and easily defrosted the whole thing?
  16. My strips were different to that... but yes still were clearly visible. I'm going to go back in again and get them to show me, cheers guys. If it's not they aren't gonna be happy haha
  17. they definitely defrost the entire windscreen... well mine used to. I think someone posted a bideo of it working on here too (maybe joker??)
  18. friend of mine has 10" wide 18s on his version 10... not sure what hes doing to fit them though
  19. I recently cracked my windscreen quite badly on a snow trip, it was replaced through Smith & Smith via insurance. My old windscreen had a visible strip at the bottom in the centre for heating it and defrosting ice etc. My new windscreen has no visible strip (but a large blacked out section which could possibly hide it?). I mentioned specifically at the time that I wanted the heated screen and when I first saw that there was no strip like the old one had I questioned it and was told it was heated. Any one know reasons why it might not be working at all/as well as my old one? When in Tekapo over this last weekend it seemed to take far longer than it used to for the heater to defrost the ice (had to put fan heater on as well in the end) and I am wondering if there is any way to tell for sure whether or not I have been screwed and given a non-heated screen?
  20. i have temp in a tapped sump plug, don't know about pressure though...
  21. Buy on trade me as said, then fit it yourself... Easy enough to do depending on what type you get and save you some coin as well.
  22. mmm, agreed, but unfortunately it does have the pillars etc... I've seen worse convertibles but I just don't like it. I'm sure some people will though
  23. http://www.cars101.com/subaru/impreza/sti_convertible.html No, just NO...
  24. Im going wednesday for a day trip to remarks assuming the snow that is forecasted arrives. then going back over friday arvo/evening for the weekend
