Seems to be slightly better on long drives. Otherwise its consistent.
I gapped all plugs to 0.45mm and little to no difference, I will be trying new copper plugs instead of platinum. Coil on pack.
I'm wondering if maybe you are having the same issue i was having with my old motor..
Ihad a reall nasty miss and loss of power at 5500 RPM umder load that i could not figure out.. Tried everything.I ended up chucking it on Keith Stewarts dyno and he diagnosed it as valve float.. This was an original unknown kms engine that apart from the miss at higher RPM's and load would perform really well...
Yours has quite hig Km's so its a possibility i guess...Only way to really diagnose may be to chuck it on a dyno and get a full health check.

That sounds like a nightmare. VTNZ are great at not knowing WTF they are talking about. Been to one that didn’t even know what LVVTA cert plate was.
They are a pain in the ass to get hold of.. But once you do get a human they are okay.
took me 2 weeks to get approval to reuse my black numberplates on a bike i was putting through recertification.

I'm looking for advice regarding chasing down an intermittent high rpm misfire. The car is a GF8 impreza with an ej20G engine. Under high load high and over 5500RPM I am suffering a loss of power and torque and what feels like a misfire. Under light load I don't think I feel a misfire. So far I have replaced all plugs and tried gapping to 0.6mm. I have also tried a different set of coils with no luck. Otherwise the car drives perfect at low RPM other than sometimes taking a long time to start when hot. The engine is high km with 250,000km. Is it worth doing a compression check?
I am at the point where I am not sure what to replace next. I'm thinking crank and cam sensors. Or doing the 2002 WRX coil pack upgrade. After that I feel a I might have to start looking a general engine health closely?
couple of quick questions..
Does it do this when the motor is cold?
Does it get worse as the engine warms up?- 1

I’m guessing NZTA not VTNZ
https://www.nzta.govt.nz/contact-us
you could also try to get the old owner to do a personalised plate transfer form if you can find out who registered it.
haha yeah sorry... NZTA... Sorry getting them confused.. Been dealing with both quite a bit lately trying to reregister an old motorcycle and get approval to reuse the black plates on it..

best thing to do would be contact VTNZ and ask he question.... I would say from experience that you would get a no.. but worth ringing and giving it a shot...

Hi All,
My stock auto on my 1995 SVX is having TCU and torque control/converter issues and looking at swapping out with a 5 or 6 speed manual. SVX is rated at 230hp so would a stock WRX 5 or 6 speed be ok? Any thoughts?
Cheers!
John
The torque would be the biggest killer for you..
It's really an unknown as to it lasting or not..

Not sure why no one has put it but grab a bigger stock intercooler if you can.
cheap upgrade and allows you to push the factory turbos a bit more but still keep engine cool and happy.Newer manifolds or NA one flows more so that helps too.
But dyno tune it.

My 2 cents...
If you're wanting 300hp (225kw) atw.. You will need to do a lot more than chuck an STI ECU, boost increase and some yellow injectors at it..
You are talking
bigger turbo
Exhaust
injectors
intercooler
ECU
uprated fuel pump
FPR
possibly forged pistons
Dyno tune
I would say your standard clutch would not like that sort of power so upgrade that too.
If your wanting power around the 300hp ATW mark then you really are heading into spending larger amounts of cash on an older WRX.
Im not saying dont do it but what i am saying is to think very carefully about your power goals. costs can spiral out of control very quickly.

Joined up after buying the RS. Met Dane at a track day not long after...

Just ran some through. Not a lick of difference! And no smoke whatsoever either! Was a bit disappointing actually haha. And yes, I did spray it in the right place. I guess since my car sees almost entirely motorway running, there isn't much of a chance for carbon and other gunk to build up like in city driving.
if your mostly nice hot motorway driving you wont build up carbon..

Oh crap... Now what am i gonna do with all these drums of skid diesel i have......

180mm grinder and some masking tape
make 4 short intersecting cuts on the outside skin of the door and that lock will pop straight out.

Could also be BG5.. Is it the 2nd gen or 3rd gen shape?
