  1. Haven\'t been for a proper drive with them yet but pretty happy so far Had a friend from work help me to install which helped a lot, but having done it now I\'d say it\'s reasonably easy; just time consuming and not something I\'d repeat in a hurry. Trickiest bit is getting the bottom of the rear shocks to line up for the bolt to go in cos of the way the rest of the assembly wants to move. The rest is fairly straight forward. So what\'s the difference with your new ones to your existing if they have regular springs? You have a SpecB yea? Yeah mines Spec.B, but being 2003 they are the hardest riding set out of them all. Put some Rev. B Bilstein front struts on last night. I suspected the Rev. A ones were on the way out, they were making some knocking noises and didn\'t rebound properly which made it a pretty harsh ride (even harsher than it should be). So got the new set in late last night, gave it a quick drive and yep the old ones were definitely poked. The front sits a wee bit higher now, but should settle. A wee bit more body roll than the stock set, but the old ones were really only good on completely smooth roads, so these are a great improvement. Will get the rears on later in the week to finish it off Glad to hear yours are doing well. That\'s interesting, mine\'s RevA as well and I\'ve heard about them being the hardest of them all, and supposedly uncomfortably hard, but I never noticed it being the case with my ones. But then again with the new struts in (RevB you said they were?), they don\'t feel noticeably softer, so whether they were swapped out in Japan, who knows. Or could be the springs making it feel as firm.. Good job getting them in; but yeah it\'ll settle down. With the pink ones they were sitting at the same height if not slightly higher at first haha.

  4. Some people are probably already aware of this, but I\'ve just found links to workshop manuals for the Legacy which I\'m sure will be handy for others. Perhaps worth making a sticky? BP/BL - http://www.subaru-car.ru/manuals/legacy/2004/ BE/BH - http://www.subaru-car.ru/manuals/legacy/2003/
  5. Did realise that, but not sure when that will be haha
  6. Nice. Will be good if you could get a sound clip; keen to hear what they sound like with the aftermarket downpipe.
  7. I think this is for the toll road system in Japan; I have something similar in my car but in my center compartment.
  8. Re sound comment (sure, this one\'s modified but still awesome): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r3haSVYa4Vo#t=0m27s
  9. What sort of torques should be used for doing up the strut bolts? Looking to attempt this in the near future.

  11. How far past F on the dipstick can you go without having to drain some oil? A couple of mm?
  12. I wondered about that aye, but yeah just broke the hose. Think I\'ll take it to Highbrook or Sublab and see if they can either do a patchup job or just replace the part. It\'s in an awkward location that makes it a pain to work with.
  13. Yeah I\'ve got a random bit of hose that was lying around as a joiner atm, but it\'s no way near a long term solution. You reckon getting a proper vac hose as a joiner and maybe a hose clamp would be an ok long term solution? I was going to see about getting a replacement but not sure how much it\'d set me back.
  14. So the solenoid is fine, but ouch, sounds like you\'ve snapped a plastic manifold nipple maybe? Can you see the broken nipple inside the hard hose? It broke about an inch or just under from the end, and I couldn\'t manage to remove the bit where you\'d imagine there to be a nipple, it\'s on there pretty good. So pretty stumped aye.
  15. Not that I can see. To the left of the filter it attaches to a nipple, and on the same part a loom plugs in, which you can see in the image. That portion of the hose (left of the white circular filter thing) is flexible rubber. On the other side however it\'s rigid. [quote name='Timmah said: Why not the vac hose that comes off the BoV? I\'d messaged Highbrook Auto and got a message back from Alex saying that\'s where he usually does it, so thought I\'d check it out. After snapping it I ended up doing it with the hose of the BoV anyway
  16. So the hose between the filter and where it attaches to the intake appears to be a rigid plastic, which didn\'t seem to take much to make it snap. Not exactly sure how it attaches to the intake, whether there\'s a nipple or something.
  17. Engine flush, upper engine cleaner and oil change. In the process of trying to find a vacuum hose to remove, broke the plastic tube going to the intake manifold from the thing indicated below. Can anyone tell me what it is? Would it cost me much to replace? Want to replace it asap so probably have to get a new one, don\'t really want to wait for one from a wrecker.
  18. Find a vacuum hose that enters by the throttle body and spray down it into the manifold, being a dbw car you need 2 people, one to spray the cleaner and one to hold the accelerator down a little so it doesn\'t stall. Problem is I can\'t really tell what goes to the throttle body cos it\'s hard to see where anything goes just after the intercooler, it\'s all kind of hidden or blocked from view. Could I use the hose that recircs the air from the BOV? I\'m guessing this would be the larger of the two pipes coming off of it? What is the small hose at the top for? It kind of looks like it goes to the intake manifold but it\'s hard to be sure as I can\'t get a good view of it.
  19. Where should I spray upper engine cleaner? (pic grabbed off net)
  20. WOF booked in for tomorrow at 8am, and I literally just noticed a screw embedded in my tire on the part that contacts the road, about an inch in from the side wall. What are my chances of needing a replacement vs a patch up job?
  21. Na don\'t get put off by what others think they look like. I wasn\'t a fan of it myself personally till I put them on mine. Didn\'t take long for it to grow on me. IIRC last time I looked on japanparts.com the genomes and the quad tips were the same price, except genomes seem to be about 10x easier to find around here, whether on trademe or on jap import vehicles.
