  1. two more Qs -will I need Nelson subaru to reset the ECU with their computer after fitting it? - I already fixed the fuel leak it had (the hoses under the manifold) and since the fuel ratio sensor failed the smell of fuel came back a little bit through the air con - so will the new sensor fix this issue? - (the guys at Subaru thought it would)
  2. Well i got the Legacy back today from Nelson Bays Motor Group and they came up with the following: Fault: Engine check light on Carry out Diagnostic checks for fault, Code P1130 present Sensor 1 Bank 1 Sensor 1 A/F Ratio Sensor failure - req replacement Total cost to get this done was $97.70 so I asked them the cost do change this sensor and they said 660 inc GST plus 1 hr labour, I rung up Armstrong Subaru in CHCH and got the sensor for 460 and have decided to replace it myself what do people make of the code they came up with - no wonder I couldnt diagnose it myself the standard way also where abouts is the A/F Ratio sensor located? and will I need to get them to reset the ECU properly with their computer after the new sensor is fitted? Cheers
  3. Yep Nathan is the best guy there - I do know what you mean all they really care about is getting $$$
  4. well going back to this, every time now I start the car up the CEL comes on - but only when its cold and when you switch the car on and off it goes away - and its not coming up with any codes?? So I have booked it in to Nelson Subaru to get them to do a diagnostics check on Monday - will report back if you want me to
  5. well my car has had a history with knocking but it never used to show a cel? - when I first bought it it knocked real bad but after doing plugs and AFM it was better and I also did a tank with Octane booster and it seems to have cured the knocking pretty much
  6. I started heading home today from work and the CEL came up so I switched the car off then on and it was gone once I got home I connected the plugs and It came up with nothing - (the CEL flashed continuously) any ideas - 2001 GTB E-tune BH
  7. It wont det on 98 but we dont have 98 in Nelson so i want to tune it to run normal on 95
  8. Just thinking of getting my 01 E-tune on the dyno at Spec to solv my det issues - has anyone else used Spec? if so what feedback have you got?
  9. Waaaay better than any other gauges
  10. what advantages would you get from cleaning out the I/C?
  11. +1 the standard boost on primary should be around 10-12 psi
  12. Yeah well most idiots end up cranking boost up and changing exhausts etc and then wonder why they\'re hitting kerbs - its common sense to have your car handling properly and having all the power you can use to the ground first!
  13. before you start doing anything to your enging you should concentrate on getting what power you do have to the ground - e.g. high quality tyres. The TT engines at the best of times can often have boost issues, as I found out with my 95 GT especially the BG models so If you start cranking the boost up or anything like that you will have issues
  14. Potenza RE002s are the way to go if you have the cash ;D - awesome in any conditions!!!
  15. yes yours is a REV-B - I also have a REV-D and a REV-B and only the D dets - thanks heaps for the help guys
  16. very hot!!! dont see outbacks like that much - good job mate!!! ;D
  17. just to bring an old thread up again I have some Q\'s 1 - Why do we not hear of people melting pistons from det? 2 - There are heaps of Rev Ds around and surely not all owners would get them reflashed? 3 - apart from lower octane fuel and the AFM what else can cause det? 4 - there are heaps of high performance cars in NZ why dont they seem to suffer from this? - or is it only a Subaru problem
  18. sounds like det to me - the AFM may not appear to be dirty but it could still be stuffed
