  1. If you need to drive for a short distance, top it up, but don\'t seal the radiator cap properly... so that pressure won\'t build up and spew the water out in 30 seconds.
  2. ok sorry... so venting BOVs are the best, and standard ones are soon to be illegal... luckily I have found an awesome one on trademe... can\'t wait for that psssht psssht!
  3. so... what exactly is the conclusion here? aftermarket BOVs are good and factory are shit... right? Better get on the trademe ASAP.
  4. +1 for macbilt. They have a great deal of WRX at Manfeild experience.
  5. when was this? looks like u driving hard man!! hahah Was at Blairgowrie Road in Dannevirke early in the month... was a Dannevirke Car Club event... was awesome.
  6. But who changes the fuel filter regularly? What\'s the specified interval... every 50,000 kms... 100,000 kms?
  7. Rang them on Monday.. they apologised for the delay and said they\'d get back to me. They didn\'t, and I still have no email to say goods have arrived at their warehouse in the states... so I rang them today, and they told me they had somehow emailed the wrong person, who it seems has given them their NZ delivery address! So the courier now has to retrieve me goods or something... they weren\'t sure... awesome service.
  8. drag racing aside... I\'d still go for the 3.0... less things to go wrong, less oil changes... sequential twin turbos suck.
  9. I used water wetter in my last car... it didn\'t seem to have any rust prevention stuff in it though... the water was always brown... I\'d prefer to use coolant this time... I\'ll take a look at that BNT stuff... cheers....
  10. So, all you guys using Subaru coolant... or a suitable "other" brand?
  11. Never been pulled up a WRX. If you want a fast daily car that will not be modified for more power, go the 3.0L.
  12. Thanks dude... but yeah, the solder worked out pretty good...
  13. good to know... I\'ve only used solder for electronics, so wasn\'t sure... but the result looks really nice...
  14. I\'m sure there is, but maybe my Google prefers to spit out American results for me Care to elaborate/enlighten? [quote name='loner said: Also, when you actually get a car, I suggest you save your pennies for petrol, good tyres, clutch replacement, WOF, rego, frequent oil and filter changes, brake pads, rotors and fluid... can\'t image at 18 you are going to need any performance upgrades for a while. /quote] I don\'t see how age should mean that I don\'t need to upgrade my vehicle? 8) Nonetheless, the upgrades I want for the most part aren\'t serious performance upgrades. I\'ll have money to keep the car serviced etc. but I just want to put some money into the car to improve its drive performance at the outset. There\'s loads of Jap stuff and some good aussie stuff even... As for your age... don\'t take it all personal and shit, but I would never let my kid have an STi at 18... it\'s stupid and dangerous.
  15. Seems like you spend a lot of time looking at American websites... forget perrin et el... there\'s plenty of Japanese stuff you can get in place of the American stuff. Also, when you actually get a car, I suggest you save your pennies for petrol, good tyres, clutch replacement, WOF, rego, frequent oil and filter changes, brake pads, rotors and fluid... can\'t image at 18 you are going to need any performance upgrades for a while. edit: oh, and insurance!
  16. solder did the trick... just had to heat the area around the leak with a blow torch.
  17. sumps already off and clean... so it\'s make or break time.
  18. So turns out there is a pin hole sized leak in the sump. I can\'t get to my welder for three weeks... but am thinking solder may do? Anyone got an opinion on that?
  19. Wrapped new down pipe. Did it three times and I\'m still not happy with it... also feel like I\'ve had a wrestle with a cactus.
  20. Trying this out... not impressed so far... my goods reached their U.S. warehouse last Saturday, and I still have not heard from them... and I paid extra for the U.S. shipping to reach their warehouse quickly... what a waste...
  21. Talk to these guys... http://www.legacyparts.co.nz/... not sure if they would bother stocking only the mirror though...
  22. you mean the front pipe? what sucked about it? And did you size up to 3 inch? I\'ve stuck with 2.5.
  23. Looks very nice ^^^ Anyway so I just took the stock down pipe off my STi... what a heavy piece of shit... and it has a blanker where I was expecting to see a pipe for the wastegate!?!? what gives? Seems like the flow will be fucked when you you have your foot down.
  24. a 235 wont perform correctly on a 7\' rim. they overhang and bulge and you wont stop or corner as designed. really that simple. and tongue in cheek - who thinks a bulgy arse rim looks good.. he asked if they will fit on the FACTORY rim - which the answer is sorta yes, but NO. on a proper width rim yer sure they would be fine. but he didnt ask that why not chuck a 265 on that rim.. more rubber on the road right .... ??? ;D LOL... turns out I didn\'t even read the post... I just wanted to contradict you
