  1. Wheres the best place to get gaskets for my downpipe? Are OE ones still my best bet?
  2. Could be AFM but usually (9 times out of 10) cleaning wont do anything... Do you run a pod filter? does it surge at idle? (up to 1000 then back down to nearly stall then back up) if so then it probably is you AFM Also check your O2 sensor, can cause strange symptoms sometimes, Check out this: http://www.rexnet.com.au/forum/index.php?/topic/100882-sensors-problems-and-fixes-thread/
  3. Didn\'t happen to be white with black wheels and inserts did it?
  4. Awesome great to hear! Way to many in wellington recently. Had the car even been reported stolen by that stage?
  5. Not necessarily a bad thing... ;D
  6. that is wrong, the UK got COMPLETELY different cars to NZ NEW. NZ new got the same power as JDM up until the v7 wrx. Oh, i was under the impression that it was the other way around, Subaru made two types of each car, the JDM sale and the world sale (hence we have NZ new WRXs with Grey injectors and smaller turbos as they were world sales) up to the V7 then from then they we got the same as JDM. Might be STIs that were sold NZ new as JDM spec cars all the way through like newsuba said.
  7. Good write up this... Start with the AFM, can cause strange symptoms and even trigger other codes. Also check for vacuum leaks or any hoses that may have split.
  8. 226hp sounds like the American/UK market, i thought all version 7s were around the 180-190KW range for JDM, V5/V6 were 198KW?? and RSK 205KW?? from memory though probably miles off knowing my memory. ;D From Experience the power in the WRXs is a lot more drivable than the twin system, you have to learn how to drive to the strengths of the twin turbo,
  9. Pretty much, from memory the internals of the engine are the same but the JDM WRX comes with bigger turbo, injectors and AFM to match. IE: Yellows, VF22 and orange AFM on the JDM and greys, TDO4 on the NZDM. Plus NZDM is detuned to compensate for lack of higher octane fuels around the world.
  10. I have power stats and engine configs... https://skydrive.live.com/?cid=4c6f4ec0f2ef91da#cid=4C6F4EC0F2EF91DA&id=4C6F4EC0F2EF91DA%21171 Substitute UK for NZ.
  11. evowrx wins!!! ;D Broken plug on the cylinder number 3 coil wire means it must have partially fell off while boosting, so she was running on 3 (amazes me how normal boxers run on 3 cylinders, and how the ecu didn\'t pick it up.... but did when i unplugged cylinder 2...) ??? Anyway all solved, Thanks all.
  12. You cant really tell in the vid but it definitely shakes the whole car. Has coils on plugs so cant pull leads, luckily i have a spare coil from my GTB experience lol so will swap that around and see if that makes any difference. Still think this would throw a miss-fire code on an 01 though... Also shaking increases with load not speed if that makes a difference.
  13. Wouldn\'t that throw up a Fault code though as a miss-fire? Am going to change out the plugs tomorrow and see if that helps anyway. I took a video you cant really see much but hopefully it gives you a better idea.
  14. Hi, Need peoples suggestions... Was driving to drop the mrs off, was boosting when there was a sudden drop in power at 5k rpm. Car now shakes alarmingly when its put under load mainly when accelerating in 4th or 5th, and also shakes at idle quite badly. Have checked engine mounts but they seem okay. Any other suggestions? Car is 2001 GGA WRX completely standard.... Doesn\'t seem to be down on power either, no odd noises or CEL codes...
  15. Armstrong Subaru in the Hutt used to fill all there cars with 98 from BP when they sold them... Cant imagine they would just drop to 95, but in saying that they dont have much of a choice now i guess...
  16. I assume you mean the theft? Was taken from just around the corner from the Trentham train station.
  17. Seeing as you touched the terminals first thing i would check would be all the main fuses in engine bay, if that fails get a multimeter check the voltage at the main input wire then the exciter wire (the small one with the spade connector) MAKE YOU TEST WITH SOMEONE TRYING TO CRANK THE ENGINE ON THE KEY Should see no less than 10v on both.
  18. Yeah, I actually noticed a week ago the install was s**t, and even thought i should clean it up a bit... Was just stuffed under the dash... :
  19. Massive excess (only being 19 and all) cheaper just to sort out myself (and quicker) guys on here have been a great help though.
  20. Already got one coming thanks for the offer though.
  21. Rather than spending mega bucks on a tactrix cable, will this one work with romraider and ECUFlash?? http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/car-parts-accessories/tools-repair-kits/meters-testers/auction-559744782.htm
