  1. personally i think the v8 sti bonnet scoops look to big on gc8\'s..id like to see a gc8 with the v7 sti scoop or the wrx v8 scoop..looking at doing this too
  2. He Said the front "pumper" is after market its not a ra its a type r,poor things only done 77000km http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/subaru/impreza/auction-568871222.htm
  3. All is sorted, just replaced a faulty Autogauge meter/water temp sensor and thermostat this morning. Now the new Blitz gauge peaks at 102C and drops to 95C but yesterday after running the car for 15mins the Autogauge meter went off the clock for 5 mins and read 120+ C which i never let happen and then magic,Fans come on.The Aircon fan did\'nt come on cause there was no gas in system :-[ ..also the Autogauge water temp sensor readings coming from a head hose.have it in the top radiator hose now and is running well.replaced my coolant for the 3rd time this week too haha. Thanks guys haha i wish it was that
  4. thanks for the feedback that gives me abit of relief,i just assumed at 105-110c from the top radiator hose the fans would kick in at some stage, and they dont seem to run when i use the aircon either..the only time they ever operate is in diagnostics..will see how it goes
  5. i only think its overheating cause of temp reading on my autogauge water temp meter.and i find it strange fans go on in diagnostics mode but not after a hours drive and bottom radiator hose isnt as warm as top hose ,is 105 C a good average water temp for top radiator hose? my factory water temp gauge does\'nt go above half way tho..this doesnt explain a semi cold bottom radiator hose when it reaches 105C..what do your guys aftermarket water temp gauges read.
  6. so i just checked the thermostat and to my suprise it is opening when placed in boiling water..when removing the bottom radiator hose to check thermostat there was hot water coming out of the hose for a couple seconds max 500ml then the rest was cold which was about 2 litres this came out of bottom radiator hose.then about 2-3 Litres of hot water was slowly dripping from thermostat housing/engine side.the bottom hose gets no where near as hot as the top ..is this a bad waterpump.is there a way to check if the waterpumps gone ie run car with hose go through top tank..still the car uses no coolant or leaks any...one thing i did notice is that the thermostat housing had lil corrosion pieces on inside and they scratch off..so now im thinking its either a blocked radiator,waterpump,ecu,..the fans dont come on when i use the a/c either..im really stumped
  7. yep there is voltage to both fans and iv checked relay and that seems good.and im not getting CEL for water temp sensors.oh no hopefully its not the ecu.the car reaches 105 degree celcius after 10mins driving and fans wont come on even after a hour drive.cheers
  8. checked all fuses and wiring and all is good.anychance it could be the water temp sensor.iv heard that controls the fan relay and switch..i did a google search and a guy had a similar problem.ended up being the ecu ???
  9. update: so i just checked the bottom radiator hose again and it seems to be getting hot,and it uses no coolant what so ever..also there are no bubbles in the header tank so i pretty sure i bled it properly.checked the fuses/relay and they are good..if the thermostat was gone would the bottom hose still get hot.cheers
  10. i bleed it myself and cant see any bubbles in header tank.would this cause the fans to not come on though?
  11. cheers for the info.i just plugged in the 2 green diagnostics plugs under dash and the fan comes on so dont think its the sender or fuse
  12. would that also cause the fans not to come on with the aircon on high?..other symptoms iv had is both the -10 hoses coming off the waterpump have split in the last month and the water coming out off them is hot, could that eliminate the waterpump failure. will be getting a cambelt kit fiited this week so if it is the thermostat will leave it till then as i replaced my coolant 2 days ago.and it aint cheap haha
  13. hey guys iv searched the forum but cant find a decent answer on this issue.the cars a wrx the issue is that the radiator fans dont come on at all when the cars warm, even when i put the aircon on warm and high(blows hot air when i put my foot down) and the bottom radiator hose doesnt seem to warm up at all.the factory water temp gauge stays just about half way.but my aftermarket one reads 115 degrees celcius sometimes and sits at 105 degrees celcius when cruising or there abouts.the aftermarket gauge sender is coming from under the manifold behind the alternator..dont think its the sender though..im guessing its the thermostat, thermoswitch or waterpump.i am losing no coolant either
  14. lol to be honest i dont think they would steal that car even if the keys were in the ignition and the windows were down...your safe mate
  15. Reading are from my autogauge water temp gauge..will replacing the radiator cap drop the temperture.currently it uses a fake blitz 1.4 bar cap looks a lil beat up.thats all i can think of as the fans still come on
  16. sorry im after the water temp.lol is the factory gauge on the right a oil temp gauge why you said that
  17. Hey guys just wondering what the normal water operating temperature is for a wrx sti.after about 10mins of driving The temp on the autogauge water gauge gets to 100 degrees celcius, and sometimes in traffic it reaches 110 degree celcius, but the factory water temperature gauge never goes above half way..any ideas
  18. lol they are crystal ones in the photo mate.the stock ones are ugly orange..i just put in a orange bulb,if it was a clear bulb i think id be asking for it
  19. hey man thats a nice example of a v7.hard to come across in this condition but to be honest comparing that to others on trademe and todays market you would want to price that around 15-18k some will say thats still abit steep and now days you can pick up a v8 for with those kms for 19-20k...japanese cars older than 10 years lose half there value i reckon.say you purchased it new for 26k in 2001-02 now its worth round 14k.same goes for a honda civic haha..i think more original and classic models hold there value the most.like spec c or ra r even still after 10 they would lose alot of $$$..to answer your question i think your a dream haha just lower it 1k
  20. haha my muscles are having a little trouble getting them off.i have studied the picture above and am pulling from side to side.might have to destroy the factory ones to get them out, think vice grips and a tea towel will do the trick.cheers
  21. cheers guys.thanks for that,i thought it wouldnt be that easy, haha hopefully nobody pinches mine.im putting crystal lights throughout.just put the 1609 headlights in today and got me some crystal clear corner lights on the way
  22. how do u remove the guard lights.do u need to remove the guard itself.cheers
  23. hey guys this is quite a dumb question lol.i own a gc8 sti..i was wondering if the corner lights near the headlights are suppose to signal/flash while indicating as mine dont.i thought these were indicators.when i turn my indicator on only the guard indicator and bumper indicator signal/flash..any help plz
  24. im more just after the look.my boot is already so light.would only be a few kgs at most..ok mate ill have a look what they got.cheers
  25. ok well iv tried to search the thread on how to check my cel code.but i cant find the green and black plug under dash.can anyone be specific how i get a cel code.p
