  1. Not really, does mean extra cost of headers/UP/maybe DP if the turbo flange differs - it shouldn't.
  2. Cheers. So I guess that means unless I went aftermarket/shipped from the US I'd need new headers if I wanted to upgrade my turbo to any STi/WRX turbo. $$$$$... bugger.
  3. I find my seats pretty comfortable? Facelift full leather. They're fully electric so I can see why there's no reach adjust. I prefer the full electric adjustments.
  4. Maybe not so much a dumb question but... I was just at Winger Hamilton talking to one of their parts guys about the suby turbos. They had never heard of the VF52 (at least in the US this is the standard turbo for 08+ WRX) and hadn't heard of the VF46 either (turbo in my LGT). Neither were in their system and when he looked up my rego it didn't tell him what turbo I had - I have looked and know for a fact it's the VF46. He said that the WRX turbo I was thinking about was the VF37 on the V8 & V9 STi's which retail for about $3k - I was talking about the V10/11 models. Do we not get the VF52 in NZ? Some JDM equivalent?
  5. Dunno what the figure should be (32lbs/min sounds correct) but yes, the MAF will read your peak flow unless you've got a vacuum leak post MAF/pre turbo
  6. etune is half that price when you factor in the things you need, still save a couple hundred bucks if you get the dyno readout too. Could wait for a dyno day and get a cheap readout.
  7. Hah. That's my photo. Not a cheap gauge but works & looks great.
  8. For comparison here's the heat map of my stage2 target boost. I've blurred it as it's Cryotune's work, wouldn't be fair to share his work publicly. You can see the difference in smoothness of the boost targets.
  9. The stock map isn't sluggish itself but it does have a few flaws (especially in pre-facelift models and cylinder #4). Some parts of the ignition timing and boost maps have peaks and troughs that don't deliver smooth power (in the stock Target Boost map below you can see a trough at WOT between 4,000 & 5,200 rpm and similar in the ignition timing) and gives the boost control a run for it's money. On the stock map I also had some weird lag/jolt issues if I was coming off of power then immediately back onto power. New tune fixed that. Stage 1 will definitely smooth out power delivery and increase boost pressure by a couple of psi (usually up to 16.5). Throttle response might not change too much aside from shifting some of the ignition timing and lower rpm boost targets a bit so you see the power coming on a bit earlier. I'd expect maybe a 10-15% increase in power & torque? Stage 2 was about 30% increase in torque and 20% increase in power for me. I jumped straight from stock to stage 2 (a new, larger dump pipe and a cat delete) so I can't say too much about stage 1. Stage 2 was a massive improvement though. For just the power the ignition timing was bumped up a degree or two at WOT and boost pressure went from the stock 13.5psi to 18.2psi. I also heat wrapped the dump pipe and used a turbo beanie instead of the stock heat shield. The stock dump pipe is flawed in design too so upgrading that really picks up the throttle response and the cat delete helped too as these are the two largest sources of back pressure on the turbo.
  10. 08 GT SpecB here. I never use "I" drive myself. I will use it if someone that isn't me is driving the car though, especially if they're not used to more powerful cars (ie my gf/family). For anyone curious here are the requested torque maps for the three SI drive modes:
  11. I missed that meet too, had to head up to Auckland that weekend. Around the 13th should be good for me.
  12. I\'ve just shifted up from Christchurch to Hamilton for work. I\'d be keen on any drives/meets going on around here.
  13. Will give them a shot. Have a mate who called up a company in Wellington and all the DPs from Japan ranged from $1k to $2.3k though
  14. Just called them, they have catless DPs for 03-06 (twinscroll) but not the later single scroll models. He said that they had a fair bit of interest in the single scrolls - he\'ll look into the single scroll manifold and see about getting one manufactured. They do 2.5" piping.
  15. I\'m looking for a dump/down pipe (DP) for my 2008 LGT 6MT but options are looking a bit rough at the moment. I was initially going to have an Invidia catless shipped over from the states ($530USD shipped) but now I\'ve heard that the steering knuckle on RHD models is in the way. So far the options I\'ve found are: Have Invidia catless shipped from US and also buy STi steering knuckle to replace LGT one. Have heard that this can impact steering feel though - shaking etc. Purchase AUS/NZ DP - only options I can see is AVO catted for $950AUS or some trademe listing manufactured in Auckland which looks small and doesn\'t indicate which year. Have a workshop manufacture a custom DP (maybe including mid and Y but probably not bother). I have no idea how to go about this though and no idea of the cost involved... Has anyone done this/know a good place to have it done? Also I\'ve heard that 04-06 are twinscroll turbos and 06+ are single scroll which narrows the options down due to the flange difference. Any help appreciated
