  1. Hmm thats odd...Do you have a exhaust leak?
  2. Could be your fuel pump making your economy a bit second rate
  3. Ive read your garage thread but cant remember, did you change your injectors or fuel pump?
  4. I get close to 600km's to a tank with a tank full of BP98
  5. I put it all back together hoping the old up pipe would be alright...It wasnt and leaked at the flange but not as bad. Time to pull it apart again and put my other one in. Had a gutsful so went out and had a bourbon instead. Job for tomorrow me thinks
  6. Thought so but wanted to make sure. Resistors are cheap anyway so thats not too hard. I can easy go to Supercheap and use their ODB2 scanner to disable to code if it comes up anyway. Was gonna drive with the light on. Shouldnt matter aye? or will it throw a hissyfit?
  7. Guttered @Kiwi_Fozze! What motor you got going in?
  8. Manged to score a V1-v5 up pipe for 60 bucks, noticed that it didnt have a hole for the EGT sensor so may have to do the 2.2Kohm resistor mod. So if all else fails, i have that as a back up. Question is, If i clear the check engine light associated with the EGT sensor and i dont do the resistor mod would the error re-appear?
  9. Stock headers, aftermarket stainless up pipe(which came with the car), not touched the turbo at all. Yeah thats what i thought being that its bolted from up top and bottom. Its probably under a little bit of stress now because the flange was out again(DOH!) so its slightly persuaded into place but its only temporary till i find a suitable replacement. Yeah i found it in between the T piece of the Wastegate Actuator and my Turbo, came out easy enough with a scriber and pushed it into a new vacuum hose which i have replaced the old one with but luckily the hose i snapped didnt have one in it(checked about 10 times just incase) so im all sorted with that now.
  10. Mint! Wasnt sure if there is a boost pill in there so didnt wanna take the risk Thanks man! Arc welder sounds like fun. Expect to see some of your projects on the DIY & Crafts page on facebook in the near future then? haha
  11. Can i keep it the same size or do i have to reduce it down like it was?
  12. Had to take it all off and mark it out to reweld and noticed one of my boost lines to my boost control solenoid has snapped...ugh! From the intake to the Boost control solenoid. Anyone know why its reduced from.a bigger hose to a smaller one then to a bigger one again?
  13. Damn you haha. Yeah trying to hunt one down at this time of year is impossible so really all i can do is repair my one and hope it lasts till i find a replacement
  14. Swore at it after i snapped my up pipe driving home from Auckland and wasting a whole day trying to put the thing back on after it was welded only realising at the very end that the flange was on the wrong angle...CRAP!
  15. So....Driving home from Auckland the other night i was driving fine as normal. Reached Hamilton was almost home then my car decided to sound like a tractor. No dramas cause i knew about a slight exhaust leak i had on the up pipe flange joining the manifold...Get stuck into it the next morning and low and behold...not just a blown gasket. The whole damn flange has snapped off the exhaust....Well S***. Anyone had this happen before? Obviously leaving an exhaust leak for that long was not my smartest decision but its obviously had a crack in the weld and gotten worse over time. Check it out! Obviously a weld up jobbie, so easy as. Marked it and welded it...Go to put it back on and that damn bolt next to the turbo was being alot of fun, okay screw it ill put the manifold back together and bolt the up pipe back on....oh hold on....DAMNIT! the flange is on the wrong angle....ROOKIE! Thats what happens when you try and do jobs as fast as you can to get your car going... Moral of the story...DO THINGS PROPERLY TO BEGIN WITH! now i have to wait for either my mate to come back and bring his welder so we can get it right the second time OR find another Up pipe(factory or stainless) and fit that on.... Anyone else had a similar experience where a small job turned into a big one? On a side note...i still love Subarus haha

Hey all! The Waikato Subaru Cruise Club has organised a cruise to Raglan on Saturday the 30th of September. All Welcome! https://www.facebook.com/events/110825202928888
  18. Oh boy this is me on a daily basis trying to defend Subarus....Most people think "Oh nah Subarus are S***. You tried changing the spark plugs? I ran 25 psi with my boost tap and it blew up, Thats crap! My skyline ran 30psi all day and it still goes!" Working at Supercheap for 5 years really did bring out the idiots who should never touch a car let alone own a Subaru. I had people buy shitty 20w-50 oil to run in their post GC Subarus because it was cheap..Oh and did i mention they used the whole bottle when all the needed was 1L instead of 4L? I think the main reason and biggest reason is they have a bad name. Just like Honda's do. Now i will admit i do give Honda's a bit of stick but end of the day they are still good cars and that is the same with Subarus. As many of you have mentioned here, Look after your car and it will look after you. Now my 02 WRX has done almost 300,000kms...on a stock block. Its lasted a trackday, drive to the bottom the south island and back, The odd paddock bash and daily driving for 3 years. If thats not reliability then i dont know what it is. Of course i have played with it a bit(Turbo back exhaust from a GC8 with no cats, adjustable suspension, thicker rear swaybar from an STI etc) but i service my car every 5,000km without fail using GOOD QUALITY products and meeting all the right specifications. The amount of truth in this statement is crazy. Most people buy a Subaru, Run it on 91 or 95(95 isnt too bad but i always run my subarus on 98), Do Launches which ofcourse a standard Trans, Transfer Case & Diff cant really handle, Clutch kick, Go to Trackdays without a baffled sump(if its a track like Hampton & Puke that have big right handed sweepers) and blow their motor due to Oil Starvation & then blame the car for obviously breaking when really it was their own stupidity and negligence that caused the problems in the first place. As the old saying goes, A good Tradesman never blames their tools. And personally i think that 100% applies with cars too.. However each to their own, kind of good in a way cause it keeps the idiots away from Subarus and raising the parts prices because there is more demand. Seen the price for a standard S14 vs a WRX? BIG difference but only because Silvia's, Skylines, 180's etc are popular and there is a high demand for them. People can say whatever they like but i love my Subaru and i always will. Nothing and nobody will change that
