  1. Yes Tim i have but he seemed unsure whether it'd have an idle issue or not so i thought id ask here incase anyone knew. Rich is fitting my Intercooler/throttlebody etc in a week or so and i cant afford my ECU installation for a month os so. Was just curious as to how bad the idle will be during the period w/o the ECU.
  2. Well goodness knows how he did because ive had a real good play myself and i cant possibly squeeze it into the gap that the old intercooler came out of. I mean unless it was a smaller manifold.. i just dont see how its possible.
  3. Ok i got a question.. My Rex is a v2, Im swapping my old intercooler for a v7 one which doesnt fit so im replacing the throttlebody with a later model shorter one. I heard however, that doing so can cause bad idle problems without after market ecu. Apparently the v2 had sensors or w/e on the throttle body? which the later models do not. Do you know if there's any truth to this? if so then until my G3's installed, the idles going to be terrible.
  4. Oh.. well that kinda sucks, i mean whats the point of investing all this money in alarms if your ride can just get stolen as easy as that. Seems like more of a deterrent than actual theft prevention. Funny, they dont mention that when they're selling it too you, $400 i spent on my Uniden one. I guess thats just the way it is. Anyway i'm glad you got yours back, If theres anything i can do to help with the rebuild, let me know.
  5. Congrats on gettings your ride back. Im curious though, my car has a 5 star immobilizer alarm. Can it still be stolen? As shes parked on the road pretty much permanently and have often wondered whether shes truely safe.
  6. Its about time the vice president got his license
  7. That's a damn fine suggestion bro, just need to grind off my existing weld
  8. I had exactly the same issue with my clutch. Would vibrate violently upon acceleration and deceleration if the revs weren't high enough. It only happened after installing my heavy duty clutch so to start off I diagnosed it as 'clutch wearing in' but that wasn't the case because the situation persisted until we got it up on the ramps and had a good look. Turns out my Cross member had a snapped bolt on one side and the downward pressure would force that side down during take offs and would literally bounce up and down whilst driving. Made a hell of a noise and i'm ashamed to admit that my immediate fix idea was to spot weld it in place... lets hope I don't have to remove it any time soon.
  9. Im with Club Auto. They specialize in high performance vehicles and aren't expensive either. http://www.clubauto.co.nz/
  10. I must say, after hearing Tim's new exhaust, I had a deep feeling of jealousy come over me. It sounds and looks very cool indeed.
  11. yeh I used to do a bit of fabrication work so im pretty good with the whole filling/ spraying deal. In all honesty though, id sooner just get lighter alloys. As for the gaskets, I have them in my right hand dude.
  12. haha don't hate the chromies, tbh I hate them also but they were with the car when I bought over a year back and haven't been able to afford new ones. Chromed steel = weight
  13. Should start a new thread "what is Richard going to do to my car tomorrow"
  14. aww your broke bro? was gunna get you to buy me some HKS headers lol
  15. *high five* may see you there, I owe him some ej20 head gaskets lol
  16. Well I certainly wont argue with your superior knowledge dude, I guess we've all been mislead..
  17. Today for me.. Got Rich to replace some dodgey brake lines and power steering hoses. The reservoir had to be emptied of course which was pretty hard to contain and leaked all over my shiney manifold. Going to need a good steam clean now. Was funny driving down the road watching all this white smoke coming from the engine bay, as most of it was being burned off.
  18. OH WOW, dude im so sorry to hear that. Ive been in a similar situation before, where the other guy was to blame and I got payed out. (you always do when its not your fault). Sadly though, most insurance companies pay the 'market value' of the vehicle and they don't seem to care about personal valuation and rarely take performance upgrades into account either I was lucky in my case because the parts I bought were not yet installed, besides which, it wasn't a write off. I cant speak on your behalf, but I would definitely touch base with the insurance company to clarify exactly what the settlement figure is. Nothing is certain until you know, so don't conclusion jump at this point, Just make some calls and go from there. They could end up making an exception if you have enough proof of purchase. I Hope all ends up going well for you man.
