  1. @willisnz I believe it may be an issue with all years (contradicting what @ADIKT & @SpeedySub have said). I was warned by my mechanic prior to purchasing mine, he inspected it and said it's fine. Nevertheless I'm keeping an eye on it! If you know the history of the vehicle (i.e. it being your mates), then you should be sweet. Just get it checked out first.
  2. @willisnz Nothing wrong with the 2.5
  3. @willisnz I'm assuming it's a 3.0 OB? Would you look to keep the existing OB rims or possibly get a set of Legacy rims? No need to do any guard work if you stick with 7-7.5" rims (factory width). @sobanoodle Good question! I'm going to say no because see here. 8th photograph down on OP, the upper control arms are the same length. *However, swapping the upper control arms to the Legacy ones would prevent the need to swap the bumpstops. This is a dumb solution though because the bumpstops 'should' be easier to swap than the upper control arms (although I had a lot of trouble removing my bumpstops, they were welded in there by years of dirt build up). http://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php/info-ob-gt-suspension-geometry-removing-spacer-180579.html?p=3883358
  4. @willisnz Originally I lowered on Bilsteins with STi pinks with Legacy bumpstops, no issues whatsoever (bar a bit of a saggy rear end) and no requirement for certification. When I say no requirement for certification I mean, legally you don't have to have the modification certified (and they won't question it at WOF time) however the ride height put my rear camber outside the factory specifications. I was told by the guys doing the alignment that I would require camber arms to correct it - this modification does require certification. I left the camber as it was (mostly cause it looked badass). So to answer your question, if you were to install Legacy Bilsteins with standard LGT springs/bumpstops then you would be home and hosed (may or may not still be within the factory rear camber specs). As always, an alignment after the work is completed.
  5. Lads, thanks for your insights and experiences. I am awaiting some pricing at the moment but am leaning towards the SMF conversion. From what I can gather, your suggestion to do the conversion is based on a OEM SMF conversion kit staying away from a lightweight SMF. The OEM SMF is approx. 11kgs? How does that compare to the DMF? (Does the weight of the DMF even matter considering the damping comes from the arc spring?) @Andy_Mac was yours a SMF conversion? If so, how does it stack up in terms of NVH?
  6. Hi all, Looking for some feedback regarding this topic. My 08 BP9 needs a new clutch (asap...). Currently running the original (as far as I can tell) dual mass flywheel set up. I have searched through the archives and see the general consensus is to replace with a single mass flywheel. I like the idea of this and from what I understand it will be better in terms of performance and also easier on the wallet. The downside being potential vibration and gearbox chatter. Speaking with Ajay (Subirex), he said that issue only occurs on a case by case basis. Can anyone give me further detail regarding this conversion (potential future issues?) and/or any reasons why I shouldn't go down this route...? Cheers in advance! NZ new 2.5i 5MT
  7. Props https://www.instagram.com/yuusuke.matano/ Check him out
  8. @MaxDoubt reason why I only posted the suburb, not the street! I work in area! I havent seen seen you at any meets! Are you going to December monthly in Botany? Try Rallytech for mud flaps - they only manufacture for Impreza but shouldn't be to hard to customise for forester, or you could measure up and send them the dets for some custom ones!
  9. @sobanoodle Although I really like that particular location because it's high traffic, good visibility and a super wide road with a bike lane to prevent side swipes, it's a fair walk to my building so I tend to grab a park slightly closer these days!
  10. @MaxDoubt you're in Eden Terrace / Kingsland right? Club banner on the rear window?
  11. Have you queried the cambelt situation? Cambelt replacement on these is approx $1300.
  12. Neither have Bilsteins... Both run KYB. Only GT & 3.0R got Bilsteins from the factory. Servicing or not, not sure I'd trust an ex-rental.
  13. @willisnz 2.0i = SOHC - single muffler 2.0R = DOHC - twin mufflers 'B-sport' are 2.0i only with single muffler. 16 inch wheels and no front fog lights. http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=1201259981 2.0R is double overhead cam producing more exhaust fumes hence the twin mufflers. 2.0R come with 17 inch wheels and front fog lights... http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=1194943219
  14. Precisely! In all seriousness though, I had a 2.0R which was still going strong at 230 thou
  15. Seen this around before... can't put my finger on where though. +1 for @sobanoodle advice. Even if the car was mechanically perfect, the LL Bean would be enough to put me off...!
  16. Try the air fuel ratio sensor... I had similar symptoms in my old 2.0R.
  17. @A_J_T Yes camber arms require certification. Purchased mine from Scarles through Trade Me but you could go directly to their website/store. When I had my alignment done I was disappointed by the lack of tiltyness I had...
  18. Guard rolly poly - unless you'd be keen on a ridiculous amount of rubbing (wheel/tyre width dependent). Control arms are necessary, otherwise you will be outside the factory camber spec. I think @ADIKT is currently running -3 degrees? in the rear with standard upper control arms, you wouldn't get a cert there.
  19. Exactly! Neither does my mates pfl NZ new 2.5 Legacy, hence why I though it may have been a NZ new thing...
  20. No programmable door handle! Yes you're right, airbags, towbar and stereo. Indeed it does have the full size spare! Best part is I know where, when and who bought the car brand new, also have the service history and am the second owner. I like this.
  21. Try my NZ new 'Luxury' model... Sunroof, leather & electric drivers seat but; No power folding mirrors No heated mirrors No heated wiper blades No HIDs No automatic or manual headlight levelling (as we've just been discussing) No headlight washers (damn you @ADIKT for showing me yours!) No heated seats No rear centre arm rest (was this an NZ new thing also) No auto pull switch for rear seat folding in boot Almost all the above came on my JDM 2.0 N/A Legacy, NZ new behind the times. And one more thing, why can't I use my key fob to open/close my drivers window! I'll admit it was rare that I actually used this JDM feature but it was COOL.
  22. Nope, no thumb wheel on mine nor auto levelling - I was under the impression that the self levelling struts took care of the headlight position by levelling the whole car...
