  1. Hi, I believe it's a 5 speed unit, code is TG5D8CBJAA. I'm hoping the solenoid fault is the main issue as yesterday and today it has failed to engage what feels like 2nd gear a few times when re-applying throttle after coasting i.e. slowing but not stopping at a giveway sign. I'll ring Harold at Trans solutions tomorrow and see if he's has any advice. From reading a bit of stuff on the USA forums, if the speed sensor fault is a genuine issue it's likely a new valve body as it can't be replaced individually..... Fun times!!! We've had Subaru's for over 10 years now and this is the first time we've had a niggly issue, they've been super good for us.
  2. Hi, So I had better luck today, amazing what a good nights sleep can do. Fault codes P1710 - Torque converter turbine 2 speed signal circuit malfunction Fault codes P0761 - Shift solenoid C - Malfunction Any Subaru techs on here with trans experience? Cheers
  3. Hi All, I think I experienced a transmission warning today in my Wife's 2008 Exiga Turbo, it flashed the A/T Oil temp light and the traction control and ABS lights came on permanently. Was fine after a terminal change but it has me worried. What is the easiest way to read the fault codes especially the trans and engine computer? I have tried FreeSSM and a tactrix cable that use to work on my 01 B4 many years ago but it doesn't seem to want to play ball with the Exiga. Some advise would be great or If someone has a scanner that will work I'd gladly pay them for their time. I am located in Botany Downs, Auckland. Thanks Regards Antony
  4. Hasn\'t missed a beat, took it to wellington this week to visit a family member. Left at 3am to head down, drove back overnight last night. Awesome car on the open road, I know people hate that twin turbo system but it has power throughout the entire rev range. It\'s been dam good to me
  5. Haha very true. I work on BMW\'s for a living, I\'ve had some seriously good puzzles.
  6. I agree with EJ20T, if you can do plugs on a Subaru in under 5 mins I would recommend you open a Subaru service centre. You would be absolutely god dam creaming it. How long would it take for you to do a cambelt? Cam covers? Clutch? I\'m interested. And no you don\'t need to do plugs everyday, I agree. However if the situation were to arise that I had 2 WIP\'s to choose from at work. One was for Plugs on a EVO or the second choice of plugs on a Subaru.. I know which WIP I would be choosing. Cambelt on the otherhand, I would choose Subaru anyday. And don\'t get me wrong, I love Subaru!!! My wife and I have just brought our 6th Scooby! No Mitsi in the garage here.
  7. I could do spark plugs on my EVO in less than 10 minutes.. There is no way in hell I could do that on my B4. It took me 10 minutes just to change one of the rear coils on the bastard. This is an age old argument and both brands have certain aspects that appeal to differenet people. I love driving them both but have always felt that the Mitsi was a stronger car mechanically.
  8. Is it easy to remove that silly screen from the centre of the dash on BP Legacy ? Can the open/close compartment be put in it\'s place with relative ease? One of the cars I\'m looking at has the centre display but it doesn\'t have a reversing camera so to me it seems pointless. It looks fugly as.
  9. Yeh bit of a bummer but I still have the B4 for myself and its manual.
  10. Awesome!! The current one has been cheap to maintain and very Reliable!!
  11. I\'ve read the map from mine, removed the speed limiter, just never got round to writing it back in. Where in the country are you? Seriously cool write up! What\'s different between the earlier models and my Rev D? I noticed that it has a less apparent VOD than the earlier twin turbo models.
  12. Hey guys, I\'m looking at upgrading my wife from her 2001 Impreza 20N into a 2006ish BP Turbo Wagon. Anything I should look out for when inspecting / test driving these cars? It will be an automatic, are the auto boxes generally reliable? Thanks in advance.
  13. How did you get on with mounting them?
  14. Hey have been looking at Alpine SPR17C's but havent made a decision yet. Gonna pull the door trim off tomorrow and have a look. Get an idea for what space I have etc. What rockfods did you get? I see that the punch P162C's are very shallow, could be an easy fit.
  15. Yes, a window that doesnt go down is not ideal. I see Alpine have recently released some grunty components with smaller magnets, hoping these might be the go.
  16. Hi, Looking to upgade the speakers in my 2001 Rev D B4. Does anyone have any experience with these? What size do they have front and rear, size limitation of magnets to watch out for etc? Cheers
  17. Thanks for the reply's! Very helpful. Friendly forum cheers
  18. What ET figure for wheel offset do you need when looking for mags for a BE Legacy. Cheers
  19. My 2001 B4 Manual is getting 11L/100KM around Auckland and managed 8.6L/100Km last open road trip. My old Skyline use to do 15.8L/100Km around Auckalnd. The Subaru rocks!
  20. Hi, yes only used 98, standard everything except rear muffler, no faults in ECU. It has only started since the last refil of 98 from BP near my house, but even if it is a bad batch of gas its pinging its tits off and surely these things are not well tuned for our country? All my old EVO's and VR4's would run over 20psi on pump 95 no worries and my Skylines never gave hassles on pump gas either :'(
  21. Sorry to drag up an old thread, but what are the standard B4 fuel pumps like? Im sick to death of the detonation in my B4, its either fix it or get rid of the thing. Im going to get the ECU remapped for NZ 98 but want to make sure the fuel pumps are upto the task before the car goes on the dyno? Anyone got any experience with them?? Cheers
  22. This is not normal, I've mainly only seen aftermarket filters do this. The genuine ones do 70K before this happens. Not saying I agree with the long service intervals, I think they are to long for NZ conditions but I change oil on BMW's all day everyday and have only ever struck 1 Genuine filter that has come apart. Jap imported E46 328i with 73000Km on the clock. Never had an oil change.
  23. Get a Subaru Andrew!!! Its a great Forum.. Antz
