  1. Prob cover opticals reply here too. We do have heatsoak issues with increase/temp control/return too lower temp. Under bonnet temp not really an issue anymore. Not sure how much change we had when the soopercooler was fitted but it was noticable! without measuring it. A larger custom built 5 core front rad and another litre of circ water will sort out the peaking issues. We are happy with the performance of the soopercooler. That extreme trial we carried out is a fantastic way to see whats going on in a short time period. Any intercooler system can be induced to overload in this way. We figure the longer it takes to achieve this overload the better the cooling. The original Subaru WAIC never gave any issues when fitted to the car and driven on the road for over 15000 km,Amazing really! The air flow was found to be restricted and the thermal overload occurred after a punishing track day.(soopersubaru on you tube) This led to the soopercooler. plus a retune and 20% more power. Upload newer G4 software.....mmmmm Computers an me don't go well together esp software upgrades,But i know what you are sayin...Might talk to my tuner again first about that one.(he did say to be careful and upload the one i did) Would not want to risk screwin up the tune or my motor!! When i spend another $600 or so on the front rad the system will improve the heat loss side of the graph and increase the time taken for overload to occur at 100kph. Have no complaints on its road performance. Thermocouples versus PT100 three wire/RTD? Bead thermocouples carefully placed do what we need,The g4 uses a K type no prob,or it might be a J type. Quick enough response to see what is going on.
  2. Absolutly! Take it back an have it sorted correctly. If they dont know how to download engine codes and then repair it they should not touch it! A cowboy! Could be a leak on a vac line somewhere...Fuel pressure ok? sensitive engine management systems must not be altered without retune. and if it sucks air in after the AFR allsorts of carry on occurs!
  3. Thanks for your reply! Think we got off to a bad start/finish last time we discussed this. Thanks for pointing out the G4 chart stuff,I had no idea you could do this, previous trials were done with thermocouples attached to points we wanted to monitor! Can see what you are saying about the ECT...However i am not overly concerned as this test was to take the soopercooler to the point of thermal overload.(temp gauge moved just above halfway) i.e. A test that anyone can do without hooning around a specific track. Then info can be directly compared. Your car is movin prob 200 kph+ at the highest boost this will keep the temp under control and as well as throttle off time with i assume a "hotside" blow off valve, as this wiill also aid intercooling. Track cars swear by the FMIC,with good reason, they work well at high speeds./Nice an light too. After 8 min your intercooler is still heating up as slowly it fails to shed the heat...Prob settle after a few more laps ...but hey who cares after that A? The Bar an plate HX does well. Just throttle response and lag to consider/ this is easy for the good driver to master on the track. Soopercooler works well for my high powered road car... That peak temp cannot be achieved when the car speed is matched with the throttle and not held under brakes deliberately to cause thermal overloading of the soopercooler. Would like to see the same test carried out on one of those tube coolers! FYI Our previous tests using thermocouples on the Original subaru WAIC caused thermal overload(60C @24C ambient) at 20sec,(100 Kph held under brakes). or two laps at puke under race conditions (2min 40 sec). And we were only running 20psi/198 Kw at that time, Hence the need to create the soopercooler.
  4. Definitely a nice cooler they do a good job too! Can one be fitted to a sub?(not to fit well!) THIS IS A MITSI or some thin! (def a track car that could do better breathing cool air from outside the bonnet area to start with....Looks great though!) Soopercooler is SUBARU only and will look just as good...What finish/colour would you like? Only polish finish is available for these these excellent tube style coolers! Soopercooler will match these units easily! Now if one could put up a graph of these coolers with the same trial as ours one would see this for themselves. Thanks for your interest.
  5. If you are capable of a better job please contact us! You may be able to earn some money doing the assembly! Thanks in advance!!!
  6. Think ya might have ya wires crossed mate. This is an intercooler system for cooling the air, I Already have the fuel rails nice an chilled. But thanks anyway. As for a Chilly bin idea for cooling the circ water....Yes a good one for your Hillclimber or short sprinter, hardly practical for a road car A? Ya ice would melt before ya get to hamilton, bet ya carry more than 5kg of it too. Brine ice works excellent on a hillclimber! And the soopercooler will work even better using this! (hillclimb/short sprint stuff using this idea)
  7. Endless matched pads an rotors......The only way to stop! MX70 compound top stuff 700C!
  8. The only way i know how to cool the water in the system is with another radiator. Interested to know how else you can do it? Common problems? Cant say i've had one. do tell. Mine is MK 3 though! We would like to custom build a unit for an interested customer. This is the only way to achieve the "new" look that is required. Price? Well its not cheap to get together, We would be open to an offer of sensible costing that suits all parties.
  9. Pretty sure im on the right track. Anyone can carry out the test i did for the graph...ya don't need to go on a track...Just hold the boost with the brakes.100Kph..for 40 sec, and monitor the IAT. Either on the g4 or with a thermocouple as i did.... direct comparison should then be able to be done. Sure its cobbled together....ITS a prototype! What is happening on the inside is whats important at this stage.....Still need to increase front rad cooling capacity......Custom built front rad 5 core been quoted at $550.00 + GST Should we go ahead and actually sell a unit it will be brand new...Coated...Rad cap fitted The pump will be brand new as well.12 month warranty would be a standard.(only troublesome bit) Flow rates and volume/heat calcs flows etc will not be disclosed either. As for pics of the full eng bay LOL! No way!, there are more mods than i care to reveal at this stage. And of course there are faster cars than mine...That will thrash me round the track...However i would still like to meet some doubters at the track and compare IAT for given boost etc...(not track time/speed) For me its about proving the system, not beating every other car around and around....Otherwise i would have built a track car. Thanks for your comments!
  10. Have too agree on this eng id Def twin turbo open decker hyd lifter early heads. Have seen this bit cut out.. Apparently allows easier access to torque converter bolts with a cheap spanner...snap on, stahwille etc have no prob here...or a hex socket A??
  11. HaHa ! On the looks! Can only improve from here a? Would like to compare data. Of course this is possible. However the retune costs and muckin around at the tuners is prohibitive to this project. Factory WAIC will not flow enough air for over 200Kw let alone cool it!(been there done that) So thats sorted. AAIC? well on a track with good high air flow....Once ya get going its probably the best....MMMaybe! Would welcome a challenge on the track, same day with one that has a AATMIC or FMIC to absolutely compare data. Would be very interesting!
  12. BC5RA......Mis understanding as discussed Cheers!
  13. Did you know you can upgrade your existing air to air or water air intercooler! No more water spray in your engine bay! This is our water/air soopercooler with improved front radiator and pump. No huge front mount and associated pipes and holes drilled in your subby. Less turbo lag than front mount!. Remove your bonnet scoop if you wish. Will reduce turbo outlet air by at least 100 deg c at 25 psi, (Across the turbo) potentially will increase wheel Kw output by 20%,(After retune ) Will decrease 0 to 100 kph time dramatically!(especially on hot summer days) Can be fitted to any turbo Subaru only! Did add approx 5 kg to My subby! But do the maths! Power increase way out does the weight increase. Simply put this is a copy of the water to air intercooling system of the late 80s to 92 period. just a higher flow rate system for the air and the water cooling. Having built a race engine over 7 years (budget reasons), I hooked up a Link G4 management system, had it tuned etc. Then found the air intercooling cannot keep up at low speeds and high power demands, intake temp climbing to over 70C! Front mount with water spray might! Butt Ugly!? an too much turbo lag for me. Drippin water every where etc. Yuk! So i tried the old water to air principle and found that with a radiator in a high flow area.i.e. the front of the car, better intercooling is achieved. when the car was retuned on the last occasion the power was up from 198kw to 248 kw 4th gear at the wheels. air temp across the intercooler was found to be reduced from 150 deg C to 48C @ 25psi boost. Engine bay temp has also been reduced noticeably. (didnt have to measure it) No lies just facts! Thanks. Cooler air equals more HP its that simple. Ambient would be the perfect IAT however this is not possible when ya compress the air a?. And ya may achieve 200 with the old! True ya can! BUT it will not sustain this heat loading for long. Two or three laps at puke an thats it! IAT about 70 or higher before engine detonates its self to bits! The soopercooler fitted to my car is the Mk3 prototype,, uncoated or painted, front rad is a 3 core one that fits dimesionally, And is not for sale. This is the only unit made.It does work well, improvements on looks and insulation will be done! (5 core front rad to be fitted) It is an improved water intercooling system capable of supporting 250 kw EJ20 turbo with VF22 fitted Link G4 driven. Extra weight?.Also a point to consider,However in this case i added 5kg and came up with 20% more Kw so im pretty pleased with that. 4 litres in the system.(beats carrying 15 litres for a spray system) Tis true we all have our own idea on what is the best car etc. My car has been developed as a usable fast car that can race. (Aircon an leather seats too!)1700 kg SO bearing that in mind a cross between drag an race was reached (i.e. A Road car that hustles! Yet by all appearances does not!) If one is at the extreme end of track race then my soopercooler may not suit what you want. if one is at the extreme top end of drags (1/4 mile) then this technology will also probably not suit you as more can be gained utilizing intercooler technology that suits these 2 extremes best. If however you want something that does both reasonably well then a water recirculation system is the way to go as it can cope well in both areas. It does need to be bigger than the original to cope above 200kw. So thats what we did! Made a bigger one that copes with the hp we are currently producing. Simple idea an a lot o math! Any person that would also like to fit one can!(subaru only) Below is the data downloaded from the G4 (A text file can be emailed to you so that you can play it on your own G4 software Vers 4.4 early one!) Boost was held high under brakes 4th gear, car speed 100 kph,Ambient temp 24C. Under very hard driving this unit performs very well.! This car achieves 250 kw and will get to over 200 kph is less than 35 sec. (higher car speed will only improve cooling)(Data from a track will come in time) Remember that every-time you get off boost your intercooler recovers to some extent. If this car is driven at high speed overtaking etc as required and more, the IAT rarely exceeds 20C above ambient and even then only briefly and stabilizes at around 8 above ambient.(old std water system sits at 12C above) Keep ya rancid comments to yourself! It only gets ya in trouble! FMIC too much lag!/loose throttle response/Ugly? TMIC gets too hot!/Have to carry spray water WATMIC Costs more! But works better across the range of a high speed road car./Can be hidden(sleepa look!) Please have a look at the links below http://s1203.photobucket.com/albums/bb383/xritagx/?action=view&current=test3.png (Graph) http://s1203.photobucket.com/albums/bb383/xritagx/?action=view&current=003.jpg http://s1203.photobucket.com/albums/bb383/xritagx/?action=view&current=001.jpg http://s1203.photobucket.com/albums/bb383/xritagx/?action=view&current=002.jpg
  14. UNBELIEVABLE! ain't it ? The risks some people take with their rides an their lives! Soon there will be a car fire/explosion on one of these home made fuel rails A? Have to agree on the six hose distribution, But for their own sake these idiots need to spend a bit more time an money to get some crimped fuel rated hoses and steel/alloy tees an fittings. Good idea to make up a dummy system with old rubber hose an tees to get the lengths correct but you should NEVER run it! Sad thing is a warrant inspection would not even question it either. (because they aint mechanics)
  15. If the block, i.e the pistons are in the correct position.Valves an timing come later. You cannot assemble a sub engine with the cams fitted to the heads, because you cannot fit the head bolts, that said the valves are all closed. when the crank is on the timing mark no damage can occur to either valves or pistons, the crank can be rotated if required. When the correct cam wheels are fitted to each cam after the cams are fitted, the cam belt should be fitted. timing marks are on the cam wheels. Now if you do not know this already then i suggest you get an engine workshop manual. There are a few quirky things about the assembly of this special design of engine. Or get a engine builder to do it. We build to budget,or Kw output you require.
  16. We can build an engine for ya.How much are you lookin to spend? Or to put it another way.how much power are you wanting? We can put a package together that suits you. using your old motor as a donor. Will be a strong reliable engine 20K warrantie (20,000 km that is). oil changed by us till then. Thanks
  17. slotted rotors are ok.But slotted and cross drilled just look good, and shudder real bad when hot. Endless curved slot and matching MX70 pads are perfect. Slows my 1500kg wagon from 210 k to 50 k in 100 metres without fade.(back straight puke) see soopersubaru on you tube!
  18. Contact Richard at prosport auto 0275440260 Endless slotted rotors and matching pads your best option! No more Brake fade or grooved rotors.
  19. also when buying a new subaru from the factory you have options which you can select trim transmission engine spec colour interior etc
  20. yes this guy does not know alot about cars but im sure he has learnt a lesson here
  21. bullshit he has never said i told him it was an sti this has snowballed from nothing thanks to a few clubsub members who got there tits in a tangle all cars imported and complied have there kms checked im sure but i do agree this should not be advertised as an sti,its a modified wrx
  22. when at sublab they did a diagnostics on it, 15.5bls boost on a modified turbo this is what was on the dio sheet the emission control sensor was faulty and some of the wiring had been played with this was the reason for the rough idle they also said that this model dosent come with sti ecu so it went to the tuner to sort out,and he installed the link and removed the ecu, which he said was a sti ecu end of story this is not a factory spec sti i drove this car and the gearbox is fine, the guy who did the aa check is also an idiot, this car has done nowhere near 100,000kms as he stated maybe 40-50 k max
  23. lol ok so you guys are trying to shift the blame to me. this car came to me for servicing after this customer first purchased it this is a singapore wrx,the old onwer comfirmed this singapore window tint codes, this is what winger subaru said to me i replaced lf passenger window and ignition as some subaru luver tried to steal it this is the reason for the different keys and sublab could not reprogram the transponder for some reason.replaced broken afm plug.cleaned the throttle sensor bolted backseat in and refitted rh gaurd liner and yes lefthand side is missing as well it had and oil and coolant change this is i have done to this car
