  1. Hey guys.

As the title suggests, I want to remove the reverse sensors that were installed on my car by the previous owner. Car in question is a 2003 WRX STI. I am sucker for having my car look clean and these are just way too pronounced and definitely not subtle.

How do you go about removing them? Where are they wired to etc. Is this a job i should attempt or leave to the professionals?

  2. Hey guys!

Going to be placing an order pretty soon, so if you want in let me know. These are the options and how much they will cost:

    1. V8 WRX STI V Style JDM front Lip - $250

    s-l300.jpg

    2. V8 WRX STI Rear Bumper Splitter (Carbon Fibre/Plastic) - $TBC

    Black-PU-Valance-Spats-font-b-Rear-b-fon

    3. V8 WRX STI Rear Bumper Kansai Style Diffuser (Carbon Fibre) - $390 (cheap considering the fibre glass replica is $450 on trademe)

Can also get a JDM Legacy 2008-2009 front lip if anyone is interested. Will be $250 also.

If i get a lot of interest, could probably do each of the above for a bit cheaper. Will also do 10% CLUBSUB discount for members :)

Dont wanna bomb on your parade but ebay has all you need. have purchased all my bodykit parts from there from rear window spoilers to a 2 piece sti lip

Yeah for sure man. Only problem is shipping though. Which is why i'm hoping to buy in bulk and sea freight to cut down costs. Specially for the bigger stuff like side skirts, over $100 US for just shipping aye.

i would be keen for the side skirt bro! Depending on costs i guess though lol...

Lol sweet man. The same ones above? Or you looking for some v7 specific stuff? They are a bit pricey aye. Probably around $400NZ for the ones above inc shipping, gst, customs fees etc. Front lip will be the cheapest, probably around $250. But yeah give me a text if you are keen bro, will do it for cheaper :)

  5. Hi guys,

I am potentially starting up a little business importing body kit bits from the states and selling them here - We have very little availability here in NZ! If this is not the right area for this post, please feel free to move it admin.

I'll probably start off with some version 8 WRX STI bits. Let me know if you want any of the items below, and what you think is a reasonable price.

    * Front bumper lip add on - Current NZ retail approx $280 from Speed Factory - Don't think they have stock

    * CS Style side skirt lip and rear bumper apron

    GD_WRX_cs_skirts__78843.1423278946.1280.

If guys are keen let me know and comment below. May be a little bit of a wait, but since most of these aren't in nz, its definitely worthwhile :)

Has anyone had a tune from tunetechnic?

If so was it any good?

The guy who runs tune technic used to work at Torque performance and was pretty good apparently. He's done a few of the tunes that some guys on here have got. He's only rolling road though. You can pay him a bit extra to get a dyno tune done. Probably worthwhile. Otherwise drive down to dtech in tauranga. $1150 for a full tune. And they are pretty dang good!

I really want that wing, but it's like $1400 shipping to nz :(

I believe that pictured is the

    mature diffuser

    chargespeed cf extension set

    syms wing

    karlton flares

front lip is actually the chargepseed 06 sti lip

    :)

Legend!! Doing some digging and found they are basically chargespeed bottomline addons (like you mentioned). Dam expensive though :(

Found the diffuser on trademe though. http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=1089823996

    Again pretty expensive.

Know of anyone in nz that would sell the other bits?

  8. Hey guys,

    99fa1eb6-d8a2-4309-b5d7-e8ee25373844_zps

    Anyone know here to find:

    1. That diffuser

    2. The little panel addon on the right of the rear bumper

    3. The matching side skirt add ons

    4. The front bumper lip

Any info would be appreciated :)

  9. Tune done at D-Tech! And what a tune! Before i post up the results, heres how it went down. So left home at 5.15am, got there at 7.30am. Car went on the hub dyno around 8.30am. Was expecting Dave to do the tune, however they just hired a new guy Chris, who used to work at Speed Tech in Welly! Apprently was the shop manager and has about 7 years experience tuning. So trusted the car in his safe hands. All went smooth, no issues at all. Car ran as well as expected with the limiting factor being the turbo. Got 220kw and 440nm of torque atw! And the car drives soooooooooooooo much better! So much more responsive, and when the boost comes on, its like a freight train :) AFR tuned to about 12 as well. The torque early on is flipping awesome! Oh and Chris finished the tune in like an hour.. lol

Just want to say big thank you to everyone who chipped and gave advice. Really appreciate it! A special thanks to Fozze for the quick road tune he pulled together so i could drive it down to Tauranga!

    Here are the graphs:

Please not before and after dyno charts done at Dtech were on 5th gear, where as Torque Performance used 4th.

    Comparison of the three tunes:

And for good measure, here is the initial Torque Performance one i got:

  10. So had a chat with Dtech. Gonna go tune for Gull Force 10. Cheaper, readily available around where i live, and potential for more power. Also considering getting my injectors decapped / cleaned while im down there. Any thoughts? Should help with power gains, moving the limiting factor only to the turbo right?

  11. So a few days away from driving down to dtech for the tune. Only thing I haven't decided on is what fuel to run. I've got BP, Mobil and Gull all readily available close to home, and only use the car as weekend toy really so my choice will be purely based on which would give the best performance. I've read a fair bit and been told by dtech that gull force 10 has been tested to yield the most power (greater knock resistance etc etc). Now my only question is, since it is more ethanol and will require more fuel to achieve the peak power, will I need to flow more fuel than I am currently limited by? And would that bottleneck my power gains compared to just bp98? Currently have upgraded fuel pump, stock injectors, and stock vf37 turbo. So the question is would my injectors or turbo limit my max power in full force 10 compared to bp98 due to having to flow more fuel. Target power is 230kw or there abouts

    Same avcs map

    Same timing.

    Same timing advance

Really??? I would have thought that's where the drivability gains were to be made. Poor show from TP on this one. The question is now, does the owner know about this? I'm pretty sure he would not be too happy that this work is being done under his brand name so to say.

It was the owner who did the tune. Maybe he had an off day, not sure. He did say they were extremely busy.

Before we get all crazy on it... are we sure that there isn't in fact some sort of issue causing the engine to knock?

Don't forgot it still got 215kw atw peak, and good torque in the high rev range - refer to dyno chart on page 1. So it can't have anything majorly wrong with it :)

I spoke to the ex tuner Dave from TP and he said there were other ways to avoid approaching knock rather than just making the tune rich. I will be getting it tuned for Gull force 10 as well, which could help.

  14. So got the tune booked with Dtech for the 20th of next month. Now the waiting game :|

Rekon there's anything i should do while i wait? Rob from torque was saying the car was beginning to knock which is why he made the tune rich. But then again im not sure if that was because of his method of tuning. Maybe @kwi_fozze could elaborate after looking at the map?

He mentioned it could be one of the injectors limiting the motor, but he was not sure (i.e he didn't check).

Just want to make sure i do everything possible before i drive down to tauranga. Already done oil 5w30 fully synthetic (3 months ago - 1500kms on it) and step colder plugs, new air filter.

  15. So had a chat with rob from torque. He was a bit peeved when I asked about his tuners leaving. Anyway, after telling him the differences in before an after and what. He happily refunded me the money because I wasn't happy. Which is a bloody awesome way of doing business. Good on em.

Hopefully will be getting a tune done at dtech on May 20th

Thanks all for all your feedback and responses. This is such a legit forum

Stopped in at the Mobil by work today for some gas and noticed they have a new 98.

Instead of min 97.5 like it use to be, it now says it is min 98.

Is this a new thing or what? Don't normally stop in at Mobil for petrol...

Where abouts was this bro? And how much? The BP markup from 91 to 98 is horrendous! As much as 40c per litre in a few stations!

No pills in mine. Should it be in the wastegate line? Tuner I used has done hundreds without apparently. Probably why I needed to add an extra half a metre of vac hose to get it to stop chattering.

Very interesting.. Mine chatters like crazy. Did so before and after 3-port aye
