  1. Installed a set of GTB wagon mufflers on my 3.0R sedan. Perfect fit. They only fit because I had the rest shortened a while back for some ultrex mufflers.
  2. I know one of the guys on the Australian forums had 2 maps on his 512k ecu. 3.0r One for 98 and one for e85 it picked the map based on the key used in the ignition. His username is BillyCorgi. Think Matt (kido) did it for him
  3. Had a towbar done by them on my Mazda 6 a while ago. I think that it was well priced very tidy when it was new and good for light duties. They did however not have any tow weight ratings with the bar and I thought it flexed a bit when loaded up with a full 4 bike rack on it. The black painted bar and chromed ball rusted very soon after fitting too. I had de-rust and paint it twice within 18 months to keep it looking nice. Mate of mine had a similar experience on his car.
  4. Best Bars. http://www.bestbars.co.nz/product-category/towbar/?filtering=1&filter_make=1652&filter_model=1653 Think they do bolt ons for most cars.
  5. I quite like the Outback bonnet too. Is it alloy like the 3.0R bonnet?
  6. Or order your Tactrix direct from the manufacturer. I ordered one last Friday and it was on my desk on Monday by lunch time. Also somewhat cheaper than evoscan. http://www.tactrix.com/index.php?page=shop.product_details&flypage=flypage.tpl&product_id=17&category_id=6&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=53
  7. I've used partsouq a few times now and they have been excellent each time. Parts arrived pretty quickly and cost less than half of what Winger or even Strong for Subaru could supply.
  8. Agreed. The original point I was making was more to say "don't discount the 3.0R as an option. It actually makes a decent amount of power" is also very nice to drive.
  9. That's unfortunate If you want decent sound then you will need speakers and a head unit IMO. The stock Subaru stereo just doesn't sound nice.
  10. Just got my set of Pre facelift GTB mufflers. Will see how those work out for me. Definitely the best tips of any of the stock options. Need to get my hands on a welding machine so I can mod them. Yes those are from a wagon, but my whole system has been pulled under the car a bit because of the Ultrex mufflers I had on there so hopefully these should fit nicely.
  11. The big difference is that my car is now pretty much maxed out. I could possible gain another 5 to 10kw with and intake and full exhaust, but that's it. Unless I spend my next mortgage on forced induction. The GT has massive scope for modifications, many of them just bolt right on up to the stock stuff.
  12. The interiors on the cars that have the McIntosh systems are actually fairly close between the Pre and post facelift. None of that horrible silver centre console stuff. But I also would go with a Post facelift, just because it looks better.
  13. In that case Matt must a done a pretty crap job on Andy Mac's GT because it shows 169kw at the wheels and my 3.0R shows 163kw at the wheels. That is 6kw. In my book 6kw is pretty close to 5kw. OK admittedly I have a set of raptor headers on my car, but even those won't make a huge difference.
  14. Got some pricing. The tips are between $75 and $80 for the twins. RPY005 and RPY006 $79.00 inc gst Each RPY048 $75.00 each inc gst So not really that cheap. But cheaper than STI quads by a fair margin.
  15. Have you got the McIntosh system or just the regular unit. You can get bluetooth units that hook into the cd changer port on the back
  16. Bit of a rarity and somewhere in the sticks and high K's but NZ new so it gets 8 Airbags, everything in English, double sunroof, leather, 260km/h speedo. http://www.trademe.co.nz/971354312 New clutch too which is handy.
  17. I don't think you'll gain any economy from the 6 speed no (over the 5 speed) . I'll PM you some details tomorrow about tuning etc. Also have you considered a 3.0R SpecB? When tuned peak power is only about 5kw below a tuned GT.
  18. Lots of questions = lots of answers hopefully. So for a start of you can afford it then a facelift SpecB is the way to go for manual cars. For a start they come with a very bulletproof 6 speed STI-ish gearbox. Both the engine and gearbox are normally good for higher miles unless it's been thrashed. But you will probably need to refresh suspension bushes and struts and gear linkage bushes and gearbox mounts etc on a higher mileage car. Petty much all the rubber stuff. If you are spending up on coilovers then it makes sense to do some of these anyway along with some sway bars. The rear at least. Before you buy make sure you get it checked out by a reputable subaru specialist. The AA and VTNZ etc just don't know ****. Facelift cars are MY07 to MY09 so that includes some late 06 cars. The easiest thing to look at are the headlights and front bumper. If you're upgrading the sound then it doesn't matter so much of it has the McIntosh system. Either way you will be better off replacing the speakers. If you are keeping the stock audio then it makes all the difference. The McIntosh system is pretty decent if you put a better sub into it and hook some bluetooth connectivity into it. There are a few options for this. There are also differences between JDM and NZ new cars. But the chances are you will end up with JDM so I won't go into that. The sunroof is normally only found in the NZ new cars and very few JDM cars, these are very rarely for sale. Last but not least get the ECU remapped. I can put you in touch with a great remote tuner if needed. It's the best $400 you'll spend on the car. And that concludes my 0.02
  19. Nice work. Now I really feel I want a TT again. When are you in AKL again? I think a joy ride is in order
  20. I just want to know how you ended up getting to the point where you were jumping on the tow bar to try get the engine to turn over? I never would have put that into my " things I might try to get the car to start" bucket. :-)
  21. Thanks. Good thing the family wagon is a Subaru too.
