  1. OK. Old. Maraetai Beach New will be up in the morning
  2. I know Wagstaff on Marua road in Ellerslie do a good job. Their work is immaculate from what I have seen.
  3. Geoffrey at MCR on the shore is tuning gen3 now. He's had a bit of help from Matt Mcleod. If you need someone in Auckland. Plus he's got a dyno which is handy
  4. +1 for these guys. Have bought various bits of them. Even gave me a full refund no questions when suspension at I purchased turned s out to be a bit worn out. A credit to the industry.
  5. I would have thought that best power and response in most cases should = low emissions. My understanding (limited) is that if the engine runs an AFR at or near stoich, then the harmful emissions will be at a minimum. I think many stock tunes get even this wrong. Or maybe I'm just talking out of my ***. That is a distinct possibility.
  6. It gets me every time, how do pretty much all car companies make cars that are so badly tuned from the factory. Millions invested in every possible facet of building cars and then they stumble at the last hurdle and get some monkey to make a base tune that sort of works. You can't even say it's a safe tune to run anywhere because it really isn't, it's just bad. Oh well, it means that there is always a market for aftermarket tuners right? I wonder if the Bugatti Veyron is tuned properly or if they didn't even get that one right.
  7. If you just want tips then you get them from http://www.autobend.co.nz https://view.publitas.com/autobend/ss-tips-mufflers/page/1
  8. Here is exactly that done on one of the Aussie guy's cars
  9. Not a terrible idea. If only I had a welder
  10. Pretty sure they are identical other than the tips
  11. Flashing procedure courtesy of Matt (throttlehappy) Backup the factory map Early model ones are a *****. Green plugs together are just under the driver side dash near left knee BUT there is also a flash connector plug as well for flashing in new tunes(stock tune can be sucked out without it) If it is a single white plug with 2 wires on it, with the terminals in a T shape then its easy to permanently cut the plug off and join the wires: Otherwise it is a 4 wire plug like this: Left side get bridged together and then right side together so 2 loops etc From there, to flash in the tune... turn ignition ON just before pressing Enter key to start loading tune I take no responsibility for you blowing up your engine.
  12. I have a 3.6 Tribeca that I'm pretty happy with. Very smooth and torquey. I've had the ECU remapped though. Also have heard that the 2.5Gt Gen5 is a great motor with a remap. Very detuned from the factory.
  13. Yes he has, but doesn't like doing them because the motor is so sensitive. Apparently 1 degree of timing over and it will pretty much blow up without warning. Maybe something to keep in mind.
  14. I had a chat to Matt (throttlhappy) about your predicament on Sunday. He should have a def for you if you ask nicely. He has also given the tools ( I assume this includes the defs and software) to Geoffrey at MCR on the shore so that he can tune the 99 to 2003 cars there. (yes even the "locked" ones apparently) Anyway Matt said you can get in contact with him and he will help you out with flashing and reading procedures etc. Apparently you have about 2 seconds after turning on the ignition to get yourself connected. Also you will need to the WRX reflash connector I think it's this one http://www.evoscan.com/evoscan-gps-obdii-cables/details/24/1/performance-vehicle-pc-diagnostic-interfaces/evoscan-2001-2002-subaru-wrx-reflash-connector
  15. That dyno was showing about 11kw less than Virtual dyno on mine. Geoffrey recons that his dyno reads a bit low, so you may actually get higher numbers on a different machine. Every dyno is different.
  16. Were you really only getting 124kw before this tune. WOW. It must feel like a new car.
  17. Dynotorque is custom made by Torque performance right here in Auckland so there won't be much info on it. If you need more information I would get hold of Robin at Torque performance or just speak with Geoffrey directly at MCR. They will both be able to answer the questions you have with some accuracy rather than speculation and guessing :-) Also, is that bottom portion your boost? On mine (I know it's NA) the aux channels were hooked up to the wideband on the exhaust so that was Exhaust AFR. If you want the actual boost numbers I would do a fresh log with your Tactrix or check if Matt has the matching data for you.
  18. Glad everyone is happy with their tune. It's amazing how much wasted potential there is in every subaru. :-)
  19. I imagine he would have quoted around $600 for tune plus dyno. The bonus with Matt is free retunes for life so if you make changes he can send you updates via email
  20. Did mine while it was on the dyno. Took 5 mins
  21. Yea. AVCS lag. Apparently my fuel pump is on the way out. But other than that it feels pretty good.
  22. Airbox resonator deleted and a final fine tune on the dyno. Not bad for a NA car. 163 atw Not much difference in peak power from stock tune but a very different curve
  23. Hey sobanoodle, if you don't mind me asking. What did that cost for the fitting and fabrication. Would be good to get a benchmark. Mine was about $520 to get the front section made and the headers fitted
