I need to get some Hella horns, reckon they're worth the extra?
-
Yup, this ^

I went through NAC for my modified FTO, as they were the only people at the time who would insure me for it.
For both of my Legacys at the moment they're insured through AMI, but neither are really modified, so unsure how they'd go with them.

I think I want to throw up.

Didn't realise this was coming out on PC, may have to take a look....

Sounds like what I would be keen for. So I would need to budget in 1-1.5k for tuning? Im not sure how much certification would cost. So is it road legal/WOFable with out the cert?
Also where is the car, as if not in Canterbury area I will need to factor in either getting it shipped or flying up/driving back.
Still like the idea of the legacy wagon, I do like to be a bit different.
Around a grand or so for tuning, depends on who you go to etc.
The cert would only be if you want to run the Rally Coil-overs that are with it. Has some normal (inverted strut) suspension with it though too, so can just throw that back in and not have to worry about it. All legal though, WOF'd Reg'd etc.
And just down in Dunedin so not all too far away.
Not sure if I mentioned, it's a GF8 V2.
Off the top of my head:
Rebuilt late last year with full genuine seal kit, new timing belt, water pump, tensioners, pullys etcTD05 Turbo
Link G4+
2 sets of suspension (one set inverted strut, slight lowering springs, another set is adjustable Revalved suspension for rallying)
3 sets of wheels, all factory with Road tyres/Rally Tyres/Snow tyres
Front upper and lower bracing
Parallel fuel rails
Rising Rate FPR
DW200 Fuel pump
Sump guard (just visible in the first photo)
probably a few other things I've missed...

What sort of price are they looking for? Could stretch the budget within the 10k if the car is worth it. Especially if a lot of the technical work is done.
It's not had all that much done to it, just has Revalved suspension, bracing, injectors, G4+, etc, so no cage or anything.
Unsure exactly how much he'll be wanting, but think it's around the 7K with the ECU and spare wheels/rally tyres etc, although needs a cert for the suspension, and realistically needs a tune... Feel free to message me if you'd like any more info

Yup, bought another one to strip out and throw in a cage

I do know of someone selling a WRX wagon that was used for hill climbs, autoXs etc...
He loved it for that, great power and practical, just selling it as he's building an actual rally car.
Personally I'm doing similar to you, but going with a 1st gen legacy sedan as my base. Same end goal though. -
I'm starting to really like lowered Outbacks...

Nice, was so glad to see that they reshelled and got PCASHT working again!
-
Ouch, that sucks to find out

Newer Links do have CAN bus and OBD2 on them,so you can wire in an OBD2 plug and a BT or WIFI OBD2 reader that you can then link up to them.
I know my G4+ plugin can do this, so pretty keen to use it.
That's the Torque Pro that is, unsure about BTSSM.
-
They're the ones, 86 RC I believe they were called.
Last time I was down at Highlands Motorsports Park, there were a few there I believe. -
Yeah you can use an app such as Torque for it, but they can be quite slow, with a second or two delay.
An actual digital dash, such as a Motec will require an aftermarket ECU, such as a Link or Haltech.

So I've got a de-reg'd RS that I'd like to put a cage in, and use for Club sport and eventually rally, and I understand about getting an authority card etc.
My question here is, should I get it re-vin'd first, then install the cage and get the auth card, or should I do the cage and other modifications first, then re-vin?

Nice guide!
I made a very similar one for my car, not as neat and tidy as yours, but it does the job! -
^ This, definitely this.

I grabbed a few, just haven't had a chance to pull them off the camera yet, will see what I can do tonight.

My (limited) advice would be to make sure you have a straight pair of circlip pliers (seperator) like these:
Rather than an angled pair like these (like I did):Thanks, shall keep that in mind, I know I've got a pair laying around, but knowing how it always goes when working on cars, I won't be able to find it when I need it..

Fitted a short shift.... never doing that again....
I have one waiting to go into my RA, but really CBF...
The one I put into the GX I did at the same time as the gearbox replacement, so wasn't too bad. But it does make the RA feel like a 30 year old car compared to it...

A few of us went and setup this evening for the Auto Spectacular show at the Edgar Centre, so I took a few potato-cam shots since there was nobody around.
I'll try take the real camera with me tomorrow to get some better shots:- 3

I always use the 'unread Content' button, it's just how I use most forums, I find it much easier to read every topic that way.

Finally cleaned the RA up the other weekend, and swapped the white bonnet onto it
Also fixed the power steering, love driving it again
