  1. Morning guys I have a 1996 Legacy GTB in manual i got for a project car, got it running nicely now I took it for a drive the other day and when I got back home I checked the overflow tank and it had filled it up but the engine hadn't overheated at all, but after sitting on the drive idling for a few mins the temp started to rise not into the red or anything, so I took it out again for a short drive and the temp comes back to normal Would this indicate a sticky thermostat? the car had been sitting for months before I purchased it
  2. Thanks for the advice guys, does anyone know where i can find a service schedule to tell me what needs servicing at what kms? I basically know all the obvious things but itd be good to see what is recommended
  3. Yeah well I just called them and they quoted me (Nelson Subaru) for a 50K service $589 + GST bit over the top if you ask me! - only thing is iv never changed box and diff oil before...
  4. Hows it guys my 2006 Legacy 3.0R is just coming up to 50,000kms and will need a service Im just wondering what others suggest, basically Ian wondering is it worth getting a Subaru dealer to service it and pay around $300 for a service every 10k or just do it myself I ask this because obviously if it has a service history from a dealer/workshop it has better resale value, but if I do it myself i will save the cost that they charge etc Any suggestions of what others have done or suggest?
  5. Yea I thought of getting it lifted a bit but I use it on the road quite a bit too so didn't want to compromise that? - anyone else on here with interesting pics they could share?
  6. Yep sure do! that's why I chose the non turbo version as well cos none of them came out with hi/lo
  7. Does anyone have one they use for a bit of fun and go off roading? - I have one - see pics below 1999 SF5 Forester C/20 manual and I cant believe the places it goes Be interesting to see any other members pics of 4wding in their Forester/Outback/Leone?
  8. Thats hideous! Subaru ought to be ashamed
  9. Yea tried that also, haha bloody twin turbos! hmm im stuck then
  10. Ah ok hah yea i thought so, when it does low boost it boosts OK on both turbos and it changes over OK, its just that on primary it boosts around 7psi and secondary 10psi I did also clean out the boost solenoid in the guard
  11. Morning guys So my 1996 Legacy GTB has come up with the code 65 which is 'Differential Pressure Sensor' so I located and cleaned the sensor out but still getting the same code.. car runs ok apart from running lowish boost - and Im guessing the DPS has something to do with that? IIRC the DPS senses the difference between the two boost pressures of the primary and secondary turbos? So my next question is where can I get a replacement DPS? cant seem to find the Part number here http://jp-carparts.com/subaru/carlist.php?maker=subaru tried Ebay also Any Ideas?
  12. Hi guys just have a strange issue with the fuel gauge reading incorrectly on my 3.0r legacy, i just filled it up ro the brim and sometimes when i start it now it will read 3/4 full and then sometimes it will read right full Any ideas why or what would cause this?
  13. Sweet will check those items , where abouts is the boost solenoid?
  14. Okay so got the boost gauge on and since ive got rid of the stale fuel and chucked some 98 in it seems to be a bit better, so on primary its doing about 6psi and secondary it does 10psi It basically feels sluggish to start spooling up any ideas? Engine bay is factory apart from a bov car has done 220ks and has been regular service
  15. Lol just thought I'd share this I priced up the Knuckle joint for the gear shifter on my new 1996 Legacy GT Project car on PartSouq and at Nelson Subaru, PartSouq is charging $38.96NZD and Nelson Subaru is charging $146+GST for the same joint! How in the hell can they charge this??
