  1. I’m just wondering if anyone would be able to help. I’m wanting to lower my car about 2.5/3cm and then install a set of newer Subaru 18” wheels, possibly get them painted dark grey/black too.

The good news is that I can transfer and install my tyres from my OEMs too so it’ll be nice an cheap

I think they may be from the new Legacy....pictures of the wheels and a poorly photoshopped attempt by myself from a generic image of my car from Google below

Thoughts? I’m more of a fan of an OEM/clean look than outrageous wheels.

Anyway. If I wanted just a set of coils to replace my factory ones, what would be my best option? I know coil overs are a lot easier to have for adjusting purposes but I’m not wanting to spend heaps on it :/

Yeahp, got my Ultra Racing parts from them.

An 18mm rear sway bar isn't much of an upgrade... As mentioned, my rear one is a solid 22mm.

Do you know what the standard diameters are? If it’s a minimal gain for the rear then is it worth it?

I can get a 21mm rear and the lower brace from pro wholesale so ist the 3mm increase worth the extra $100 in price?

  3. Sorry guys it’s a 07 Legacy Gt-B Wagon :P  If this helps haha.

So would a rear sway bar and front strut brace (out of the 3 items available) be the ideal combination?

I definetly dont want want to introduce more understeer if a front sway bar may do so!!

Would the rear sway bar be able to be installed at home too? I’m always keen to do things myself where I can as I have plenty of tools

  4. Evening all.

Just wondering what people’s thoughts are on aftermarket front/rear sway bars and a a front strut brace?

Ive heard mixed reviews in terms of comfort changes.

I have the opportunity to get some decent front/rear sway bars and a genome front strut for A solid price. I feel that the Legacy  suffers from understeer and a less planets feel on the road when cornering at speed.

For those who have done it, what was the change in ride(comfort/handling) like and was it worth it?

280hp at the engine for the Jap ones on 100octane fuel, his readings are what the dyno puts out which are at the wheels.

He’s at 150wkw which is pretty good for an auto on 95 fuel

At a guess you’d get anywhere between 160-180wkw depending on fuel, air temp and auto/manual.

Yup as Andy has said, it’s at the wheels. I think they said its now at about 188kw/255hp at the engine

Out of curiosity Andy, would you think there would be significant gains to tune to 98? They did say any re-tweaks would be fairly inexpensive so the thought has crossed my mind for later in the year. I’m just thinking if it’s worth it in terms of low down gains or if they will be knock etc.

I got back from the tune last night. The guys at Rapid we’re really friendly and helpful when I dropped the car off and were happy to install the parts too.

...as @Andy_Mac had warned me about with the auto turbos, there was a lot of knock when they were trying to tune it down low, so there wasn’t huge gains there, but overall there was a nice smooth gain especially at the top end. My car had lost a few horses over the years too, it was only running about 155hp and was 200hp after the tune and installation of the  downpipe/boost solenoid.

I will admit though that the top end now is amazing, it holds the boost really well and thing really flies up to 230 kmph with ease.

Whilst tuning they also noticed I had a slight leak on my radiator and so it limited the tune a little as they didn’t want to make it unsafe. I’ll swap it out this week and it will be fine though.

If you are tuning these go for 98 if you can (I only did 95) they are tuned in Japan for 100 octane and so 95 isn’t ideal. I’ve also seen an 07 LGTB being tuned on 98 gaining 15/20 kw more than what mine did which is insane good!

Overall, I’m happy with the tune/mod combination. I do think I’ll keep my Wagon until after winter/early 2019 and look at selling it and keeping an eye out for a well looked after 08-09 Impreza hatch, but I change my mind all of the time!

  7. I got mine for my 07 Legacy GTB from Subtech, only a few hundred dollars delivered and it was a bolt on replacement.

After installing it yesterday it sounds amazing, opened up the air flow and brought out a nice raspy/rumble tone! It may be worth noting that I have the dual tip sti mufflers too.

You need to use BTSSM like tool or what ever the tuner uses.   With SI Drive yes you can .. I have different requested boost levels for the different modes.

If they do start seeing knock when it gets up above 5k .. I dunno i'd  tune it to low safe then leave it alone.  They will of course stop if starts knocking where it shouldn't but just be extra wary based on other peoples experiences.  Manual's seem to tune different to the autos. Not sure if maybe a rolling road instead of hub dyno wouldn't be better too

Oh and 3-port boost solenoid gives the tuner better control.. maybe consider adding that before starting

Cheers! The tuners installing my GS 3 port boost solenoid/downpipe/GFB respons prior to tuning so I think it will be in safe hands. I'll try and get some dyno info and diagnostics to bring back to the forums. It'll also be interesting about the knock around 5k as someone else has also mentioned it.

Im not wanting to go over kill at this stage, I just want decent/practical daily/sleeper, especially being in an alpine environment

Autos seem to be problematic either for some tuners or in general.. I fully recommend checking the Learned Values in the ECU, if you are seeing lots of negative numbers that's not good,  I think this would give an indication of overall health.  If you find even in sport # it doesn't have punch then it might already be down on power/health.   My engine popped on the dyno, new EJ207 short block + recond heads and '000s later its back to just above stock power levels

    2rypris.jpg

Is it possible to check learning values through a OBDii unit or would I need to have th cable and BTSSM? I imagine th tuner will have all option.

I haven’t had a compression test done since purchasing the car but I think that being slow may be because it’s an automatic. The guys at Rapid are supposed to be really good and shouldn’t tune it to blow up (hopefully)

My question for those who have had tunes.... can you edit SI Drive maps individually (so eco is mellow and sport sharp goes mental) or is it made up of increasing all 3 settings?

Im pretty excited for Monday though, updates to follow for sure

If the forced air is going directly into the air filter box, then yes it's a good idea. If the forced air is just going into the space

behind the guard, then I can't see it being that effective... better than not I suppose.

    Cheers!

Yup, it’s going straight into the filter box, I’ll get some parts ordered this week :)

  11. Me and a friend recently did the air intake resonator delete and he has since taken out his fog light and attached an forced air intake from it and attached it to the bottom of where the old resonator “milk jug” would have attached.

My question is, would this be a good idea?

I guess in theory it it would be better than having it unplugged as it’s getting air in there faster....but would it be good from a performance point of view? (Ahead of my tune in a few weeks)

im thinking of either plugging mine or doing the same.

  12. Morning all :)

On the run run up to my tune I thought it would be prudent to change my spark plugs as I’m sure they haven’t been replaced for a while.

It’s my understanding that they’re a plait if a pain in the arse to swap out. Is it easier to get a garage to do so or are they still very much doable from home?

Im a big believer in doing things myself were I can!

    Cheers,

EDIT - with a little research I found this great guide on the Legacy GT forum for those interested

im think about doing this too, were did you find the guide? 2007 GT

I just googled it and there was a video of some American dude doing it to his Outback, exactly the same for ours.

Only took 15 minutes. I like the sound and the spool/air noise but I’m tempted to block the hole because it would surely improve airflow with it done.

It’s just a case of popping off your intake pipe and undoing two bolts, and two clips really. You’ll be able to do it easily

  14. Wondering if anyone on here has done this? And how easy it was?

Its my understanding it’s before the MAF so won’t bring up any engine management lights etc too.

EDIT - seems like I have found a good guide, nice and easy - for those who have done it, would you advise plugging the hole where the silencer was?

  15. Evening all.

Ahead if my tune I decided to dig out the downpipe I had ordered from subtech, it was for my car (07GTB Auto) but when I have put it against a gasket I ordered it doesn’t even remotely line up.

my question is, have they sent me the wrong downpipe(their fault) or have a ordered the wrong gasket (my fault)?

the downpipe were it connects to the turbo bolt pattern seems a lot different from what a simple google search of what it would look like suggests.

The reason im worrying is because it’s a bit of a drive to get to my ecu tune next week month and I don’t want to get there and be told I haven’t even got the right DP 😅

    https://ibb.co/cBbzpR
    https://ibb.co/fmcuOm

The curved part on the right hand side is what’s got me questionsinf the DP!

    Thanks 🙏🏻

Keen to hear your feedback on LEDs and bulbs :)

Just for reference, I went yellow fogs on my 2002 in the past and decided to do the same again on my 2011:

I’ll keep you posted, th car is getting a wof tomorrow before I take it for a tune and swap out the downpipe etc so I’ll install the LEDs after 😂
