  1. Got the code pulled after cleaning the gummed up sensors didn't fix the problem. DTC 31- front right hold valve malfunction. anyone have experience with this? Does the solenoid need cleaned? Do I have to get a new abs pump? Dealership seems to think this is a 4700 dollar job which is insane.
  2. Soaked em for a week and they came right apart. Now I just gotta give em a good greasing.
  3. I paid 8700 for mine maybe 2 months ago. More kms though.
  4. Yeah, they're soaking in penetrating oil right now. I'm running to the store to get some grease today, I was planning on using lithium grease, like cv grease. Cars already lowered and new struts don't have springs or top hats so yeah if the previous owner did chop the bump stops I plan on doing it.
  5. I picked some up second hand in Hamilton for 325. They feel good but I'm going to break them open and grease/clean them before I install.
  6. Wait, 600 bucks to get coil overs certed? WhAt the hell is getting something certed? Do you have to get any other modifications certified? I have a lot to learn about modifying cars in New Zealand. My next question is where do you get pads/rotors for brembos. I don't imagine supercheap or repco having suitable replacements.
  7. Where do you guys buy replacements around here? I'm trying to talk my wife into just letting me get coil overs but if that falls through where is a good place to get replacements? The ass end clunking over bumps is getting pretty agitating.
  8. Well, replaced plugs on the sti. They had an off brand I've never heard of instead of NGKs so I'm happy I got that squared away. Also got my tactrix cable, wideband, 3 port boost solenoid and egt gauge so hopefully I can knock out some tuning this week.
  9. I have an 01 sti, I was under the impression that the bug eye sti were v7s but today while pulling out the evc the ecu says v8 on it. Is that normal?
  10. Does anyone know how to properly set one up? I've fixed the wiring issue so it runs but it won't run over .7 bar.
  11. Granted, I'm from America but supercheap wants 50 bucks PER PLUG?! Am I missing something? I've never paid more than 12 bucks a plug for ngks.
  12. I was looking at that while I was doing this actually, I'm not totally sure the defi controller would fit.
  13. I got the ebc properly wired and relocated to somewhere that makes sense. Whoever installed it the first time just taped crap together, I soldered and put heat shrink on all connections. It was also mounted to the side of the steering column so I relocated it while I was at it.
  14. Looks like its a 5 pin power harness, I pulled the dash apart today and I'm thinking there's a problem with how he wired it and that's why it's not powering up. He used piggy backs to run the power and ground to somewhere in the center console instead of all the places under the dash.
  15. Anyone have pictures? There is one installed on my sti, but it isn't fully hooked up. I'd like to hook it up to the external waste gate, but the power harness doesn't seem to be hooked up either. Anyone have some pics of how theirs is hooked up?
  16. Well it was a gigantic pain in the ass but oil leak gone, got those crush washers replaced on that avcs feed line!
  17. Anybody around Hamilton run open source? I need a little tuning done, I'll buy the cable if need be.
  18. Have you checked for vacuum leaks?
  19. No idea, I've had an 05 wrx that I heavily modded in the past but it was new so didn't have the little maintenance issues. It might be an oil feed for the avcs or possibly cam seals even but I don't know how to check those. From under the car it looks like it's coming out if the banjo fitting, I have a timing belt appointment next week so I'm thinking of going full red neck and just throwing silicon on it and letting the mechanic handle both issues.
  20. That's probably a bit beyond the tools I have at my disposal right now, moved to nz about 2 weeks ago.
  21. Well I bought the car on Monday and knew it had a small oil leak, previous owner thought it was coming from the rocker cover gasket. After degreasing the bottom of the engine and firing it up, discovered it's coming from a banjo fitting further on, passenger side of the car. Went out and bought some crush washers to replace the presumed bad ones only to discover that you can't get that bolt off without removing the timing cover, removing all the timing gears/belt and then removing the rear timing cover as well. Reassembled everything I pulled apart to get to that point and cracked a coke to have a think.
