Clutch replacement probably $500-ish in parts and at least 4 hours labour, at the very very least. I wouldn't expect much change from $1000.
The guy on the auction saying his friend can do it "in a couple of hours" is tripping, or some sort of WRC-grade high-speed mechanic.

Don't worry about it. If you can, remove it and sell it on Trademe. Subarus don't need them.

I think @Batbaruman had a 4" downpipe on his V7? Or at least someone on here did. Need to find a nice short 3"-4" transition in stainless, ideally. I wonder if someone makes a nice billet one with a 3" v-band flange integrated....

Fascinating. I wonder how large of a downpipe you can even fit in behind the turbo on our cars though? When mine finally gets an exhaust built I'll probably go for a 4", at least for the first 50cm or so.

My ABS pump/computer was f***ed when I bought the car, it bloody well better not be that again. I got a consistent Er55 on the dash and a code when the diag connectors were hooked up with that though. The BP/BL series have much more sophisticated self-diagnostic capability than the ol' GDB.

No, that's old-gen technology side-feed stuff.
2001 WRX should have "grey" top feeds that are about 440cc (same as the old Yellow side feeds?).
A few, apparently, had yellow top feeds, also 440cc, but these are pretty rare.
STIs got 565cc "pinks". If you're reflashing and you can find a set of pinks for a cheap price it wouldn't be the worst idea ever; they will give you plenty of fuel for any power level the EJ205 can handle.

The Legacy threw an ABS/TCS fault.... no codes, wtf. Did some digging around and it is entirely possible that both my brake light bulbs were popped and this somehow caused the lights to come on? Replaced both bulbs, lights gone off, fingers crossed they bloody well stay off.

There was also the RS25, which looks a lot like a WRX but has a 2.5 NA in it....

Is it a Bugeye, or maybe just after? Around 2001-2003 there were a few cars badged as a "WRX" that had the bucket seats, flared guards, but no turbo. I'm pretty sure it's factory badging...

Heh, I rate the hell out of my old man's ASX. Assume you didn't have the 2.3L common rail turbo diesel? More torque than a WRX, it hauls arse off the line. Gobs of power for a small vehicle.

It's probably the switch that lets you start the car. I'm sure you've noticed it won't crank without the clutch in.

Smell could also be a leaky rocker cover gasket. It's at the age that they start leaking. But more likely some substance got on the downpipe/exhaust when they were working on the trans and is burning off. It can take a little while.

I can only speak to the GDB. Really nicely made, very good fitment, made good doooorpy sounds.
For a stock turbo, makes three fifths of f***-all difference. I'd only do it if I needed to for intercooler pipe reasons, unless you really really want it to go DOOORP

Am I missing something with the arrows? I've never really understood why you would need them.

I'll be keeping an eye out for a well-priced R3. Performance seems similar and the wrong-facing thing would just annoy me. Also I don't really feel a huge need for the arrows, if a police car with radar running is closing on your from behind then you're probably not going to get a ticket, other than maybe for going too slow.
Also having a nosy around the Escort Max Ci Platform, as I really am a big fan of hardwired detectors.

Their website specifically says they will clear Brembos, I guess it's just clearance from other bits and pieces you have to worry about.
There's just something about supporting blatant knock-offs like that that leaves a bad taste in my mouth. They could at least change them a little bit?

Scored a whole lot of interior (steering wheel, carpet, dash pad, A-pillar trims) to replace all of these in my Legacy as they are really tatty

In things I actually did today, oil and filter on the Legacy, and 4 out of 6 of the spark plugs. All the clips on the passenger side are really brittle, after the front one broke the clip off and I had to ziptie the plug onto the coil (arghhhhhhh!) I decided it was a S*** job anyway and I will pay someone to do the remaining 2 plugs.
EDIT: I also eyeballed the STI and made turbo noises in my head.

2005 Blitzen Thread

I didn't know there was a post-2002 Blitzen. Unless someone can come up with some evidence to the contrary, I suspect it's a Legacy (probably one of the non-standard versions) that someone has added a Blitzen badge to. Anything 2005 will be factory single turbo.
EDIT: Well, some further research suggests that there was indeed a Blitzen up through at least 2005.
