  2. Yea I have tried Fitting a 97 wrx one but does not fit, what area are you in mate?
  3. Sorry for late reply I'm in chch am still looking for one as a no wreckers down here have them, the only one I did find from a wrecker in kaiapoi wanted $120 exc GST a bit to expensive for me.
  4. Hey Guys I'm after an airbox for a 1999 STB foz, my question is will a legacy or impreza airbox be a direct replacement? I'm finding it hard to get a foz one, If anyone want to sell one pm me cheers
  5. Have you got an aftermarket BOV? If so this might not be closing quickly enough which will make your car stall.
  6. Hi Guys I have just bought a suby forester 1999 STB, it has major knocking in the front struts. Does anyone know a good place to get them re-greased or rebuilt in christchurch. And how much would I expect to pay for each corner? Also would I be better off buying second hand struts and with that what struts can I put in a 1999 stb can I replace with legacy or impreza struts note I don't want to lower it at all. cheers
  7. Hi Guys, I just purchased a 1999 stb forester. The previous owner said it was converted from auto to manual it still has the auto speedo(shows gears). Is there anything I should be looking out for to see if the conversion has been done right, it drives well. He also gave me the a manual speedo would this be a simple swap? Also is there anything on the vin plate to indicate whether it was an auto. cheers
  8. Yea Pretty much got a bottom end rebuild, bored out cylinders .25 oversize pistons. Not sure on cost as it was years ago but think it was about $3000
  9. I had piston slap in my wrx but it was under warranty so I got it fixed. But when I researched piston slap it didn't seem that bad and is quite common in subaru's. It can reduce your engine life, I'm unsure if it effects performance.
  10. Are you changing gear in the VOD period? if you are the boost does some funny stuff unless you change down a gear.
  11. Not to point out the obvious but if you are that concerned about the enviroment you should not have bought a gas guzzling turbo car

  13. Hi I have a 1999 gtb BH Legacy. This is not a problem for me but I'm interested to know what is going on. When I reverse with my steering wheel dead straight and I let go of the steering wheel it turns anti clockwise by itself. It does not move when driving forward only in reverse, and I reverse on a flat surface. My alignment is good and my forester does not do this, any ideas?
  14. There is LED kits on trademe I have only seen blue though.
  15. Yea, first thing would be to install the boost gauge to see if the secondary turbo is actually boosting at all. If its not boosting could be buggered. Have a check of all your vac lines are attached and not cracked and if you have any codes logged.
  16. Does the second turbo kick in at around 4500 rpm? If so its normal vod its when primary turbo de spools before secondary kicks in.
  17. Try using a higher octane fuel, I also run an injector cleaner through the system once and a while. I will bet you a dollar the car runs more efficiently on 98
  18. What fuel you using 91,95,98? I always find all my subaru's I have owned run better on 98. My auto forester guzzles much more than my manual gtb.
  19. Mines boosting 0.8 primary and 1.1 bar secondary thats with no cats though
  20. Have you checked you don't have a blown brake light bulb?
  21. No offence but if your a bit dumb I wouldn't be touching a twin turbo subaru motor if I were you
  22. Thanks for response guys, I might just give it a miss I found some more info under "resonatorectomy" none that's convinced me.
  23. I have read up on all the information I can get on doing a snorkelectomy and I cant get a definitive answer whether its worth doing or not. I have a 1999 BH legacy and my plan was to remove everything except for a small pipe from airbox into side fender with holes plugged up this way drawing cooler air from the fender. So if anyone has done something similar or opinions on it let us know cheers
