Finished my lights BUT not 100% happy with it. It has some orange peel and I suspect it temps on the day wasnt hot enough, even after leaving the clear coat can in some hot water before spraying. I however also noted some hairline stress/sun cracks all over the sides of the headlights - So they have seen some serious sun in their days.

So instead of redoing them, I might just get a new set later the year.

All that yellow gunk and oxidation coming off  :thumleft:

After - no more yellow and its clear

Same deal as BE/BH Legacy’s regarding the tune set for 100. Nothing is done to get them working as efficiently as possible for the NZ environment and available fuel.

Remap would help a heap but unless you have a super heavy foot 6-7 would indicate an issue somewhere.

You’ll quickly find a Tactrix cable and a laptop become your best friend while driving a late-ish model Subaru

Ill give it the current tank to get a final number and see how it goes (maybe my estimate are off but time will tell)

    What software must i get?

  3. Hi guys and girls.

When Legacies are imported from Japan are they remapped at any stages in the process for NZ fuel and climate?

I am using BP '98 as I believe these engines prefer 95/98? but would a remap be needed?

My legacy seems to be heavy on go go juice and I am getting 6-7km to the liter

Subscribed... Keen to fit it to my car as well as I don't just hop in and drive due to forged engine.

Think i have settled on this : https://www.carid.com/2006-subaru-legacy-alarms-remote-start/omega-universal-car-security-systems-965636147.html

Problem is its another $50 for the bypass unit and $50 for the programmer that I will use once...anyone else want to group order and get only one programmer?

So an update on this saga. NZTA has referred it to the LVVTA for approval.

    Feedback just received from LVVTA:

As far as we can see they are legal to be fitted and do not require certification. I have asked around the office, gone through our standards and can find no mention of it, nor can I find any mention of it in the Wof VIRM which would suggest there are no current regulations about it.

A quick Google shows a company in Wellington that fits them. May be worth contacting them about it :Obsessive Vehicle Security

Although I can find no regulations, it unfortunately doesn’t mean there aren’t any hiding in an obscure place. At least there will need to  be some thought put into the installation/operation to avoid things like it starting in gear or with the bonnet open to a reduce the risk to people.

    Hope this helps.

    Regards

Right, two insurance houses have confirmed installing a keyless and remote start system won't void any insurance claims with them. One confirmed it will however not cover the unit itself and one confirmed it will cover the unit to a max value of $500.

Now I am just waiting on feedback from NZTA

...., and the ring around the gear lever ( facelift car ) was not refitted properly and is sitting up proud at the front half. Tried to get that to sit down but no luck, so I'll have to have another go when I've got more time. ....

The ring only has one way of going in (although it looks like two) - twist it 180 degrees and should pop right in

It looks like the filthy pricks had just done a suspension job and then got straight onto my car - without washing their hands first. So the A pillar trim on both sides is covered in dirty greasy hand prints all up and down both sides, as well as a bit onto the head lining. The left A pillar trim isn't clipped in properly. They've managed to put a gouge in the steering wheel ( factory Momo ) in the middle at the top, right where it's staring you right in the face all the time, and, God only knows how, scratched the inside of the windscreen just below the rear view mirror. After they've put the dash back in, they haven't bothered to give it and the inside of the windscreen a cursory wipe over to leave it in a state even close to how I gave it to them ( it was spotless ), just chuck it back together as quick as possible and off o wreck the next poor sucker's car. Really really f***ing pissed right off!!!!!! :mad::mad:

You more patient then me... Thats for sure  How can "professional" people work like that. I would avoid taking my car there if you willing to pm me the name?

  10. You also need to be mindful of how much your car is going to stand and be used. You dont want to get into the car one morning with a dead car battery as the tablet used all the juice. They draw very little current but for prolonged periods of time consider having a hard cut switch wired in (or just pull the fuse if you have one)

Thanks! Another source and agency I will get confirmation with...

Seems it might not become a reality but let's see.
