  2. Is winger is the only place that sells genuine parts?
  3. hmmm. 40 bucks to replace a slightly rusted one. :-\ no deal
  4. ^ as in chromes on subaru's deserve to be in the car crimes thread not top notch gallery. i agree.
  5. sorry, mine has done 150,000kms, but looking to keep it for the next few years --> 170,000kms. but yeah i agree with all you. yeah i did just have a look through trademe, heaps have had rebuilds, some at much lower kms ~100,000. Scary stuff.
  6. i am hoping for some conformation that a ~v4 sti does have a decent chance of making the 170,000km ish mark without having a rebuild? obviously it does hugely depend on the maintenance/ how its been treated etc etc. But i read about so many people needing rebuilds on this forum that its just plain scary, i have zero chance of getting 4-8k for a rebuild :-[. Of course there arent threads on people saying how they havent needed rebuilds, so im not quite sure of the 'norm', but you fellows have been in the subie game alot longer than the few months i have. cheers guys! *FINGERS CROSSED*
  7. my geniune cap has rusted, i really dont understand how you can make radiator cap that isnt rust-resistant. Worth getting a new one or not? seems to just be some rust particles floating on top of radiator.
  8. man.. half the knowledge i learn about subies is just how dang expensive they are. c'mon minimum wage, go up!!
  9. DAYM, how often do these need replacing?? please dont say around the 150,000km mark normally
  10. man i swear sti prices have dropped hugely since when i was buying mine, like 4months ago! :-\
  11. beat a $200 dollar fine for slipping the new rego behind the old one by accidient.. honestly north shore council has to be the biggest A hole company alive also gave my mum a $160 dollar fine for using a bus lane, she was turning left into a street, popped into it like 10metres before the turn to start slowing down. $160 wdh
  12. correct IHI vf23. Your looking at peak power (206kw/280hp) at 6500rpm, peak torque at 4000rpm (320Nm). First version to receive the face lift ~1,250kg yellow top injectors 440cc i believe 4wd split into roughly 35/65 i think, have never seen an official statement. So still fun to be had in the wet!
  13. I did a search on the net about changing clutch fluid. There seems to be hardly anything on it, on some of the big subie forums alot of answers to people inquiring about changing it was, "just forget about it" / " its a b**** to do, f*** it! ". Whats up with this? just not necessary to replace it?

  15. Vehicle Equipment (Noise) Amendment [2009] Section 1 2.1 exhausts- basically not allowed to be louder than factory 2.2 bov- must be silent and not venting to atmosphere but in the real world both these laws are not really pushed.
  16. mates family has an endless supply of mini's. 70% shells
  17. bridgeport idle is one of the most beautiful things of the automotive scene! priceless.
  18. mate is looking to buy either a b4 rsk or the slightly newer RS30's? i think thats what they're called. 6 cylinder 3 litres. But is wondering will the 3.0L drink alot more or be pretty similar? Cheers fellas
  19. hahah hell yeah. Poor mans drifting is where its at. Good way to punish hondas too. Got a nice stack of 15 trays we took from BK lined up for this weekend, on a turbo'd mini. GANA BE GOOD
  20. interesting. Do let me know if the flush does make any difference. I talked to a dude who's driven a v4 sti, he said its brakes were firm. So yeah, probably isnt how it should be, but for me its not worth fixing. Not a biggie at all! the larger disks wouldnt affect it would they?
  21. Just wondering, do all gc8 sti's have no bite to the brake pedal? Mine feels like a sponge, foot has to be thrown really deep for her to stop in a hurry. The only other subaru i have driven is a b4, which had very touchy brakes, but overall seems to definitely out do my rex in a stopping battle, which surprised me. Im guessing the sti being much more 'race built' wouldn't have touch sensitive brakes, as thats not very sensible on the track, but it does surprise me how biteless it is. My car does have larger disks apparently (dunno how much larger as havent had the opportunity to compare to a similar version sti yet) but is still with stock calipers, so i dont think that could be affecting it to much?. Pads still have alot of meat on them from what i can see. Is this normal or not?? Cheers
  22. ahhh. Man im screwed if this ever hits me. How many kms had she done?
  23. haha yes directionals* is there much of a difference between radials and directionals? In any aspect of the tyres job?
  24. My mate just went and got some new tyres, and the guys there told him that a new law is going through that means all cars will have to be wearing rotational tyres. True of false??? Is the only difference that roty's tread pattern means they can only displace water in one direction?? Thus must be put on the right way?
  25. very very interesting. On one side, its just morally wrong to mix a suby and a honda. just some kind of twisted sick joke. But ignoring that, that 'thing' is BAD ASS man. SOLID build
