  1. Hardly bothered with this for a couple of months now. gave it a run before Christmas, and when it started surging ( or boost cut ) just kept going........ Then it cut big time and backfired. Fault went away, but bought the engine light on. Bought s cheap code reader off trademe. P0244 is the code I get, cleared the codes, light stays off but the problem is back. May try a boost solenoid unless anyone has any ideas? cheers Phil
  2. Hi all, can anyone give me the height from floor to wheel arches for Wrx on std springs? I think mine has been lowered, just curious to see by how much. also, it also loses boost on hard acceleration, looking at the boost gauge it drops then goes up again every second or so. just bought the car, so I dont know any of the history, other than it has a turbo back stainless system. thanks in advance, Phil
  3. Hi all, Picked up my latest wrx tbis weekend ( 6th in total now ) 2007 V9 2.5 wrx wagon in WR blue. Slightly noisy drive back to Auckland from Tauranga, but glad to be an owner once more. Photos to follow, but a couple of questions for now. Suspect its been lowered, not sure how much. Can someone with std set up give me measurements from the ground to wheel arch front and back? Will also be on the look out for some STi front seats Cheers Phil
  4. Hi Guys, got my sons Impreza through WOF today. On to cosmetics now, but wont get carried away as it\'s never going o be worth much and as it\'s his first car, chances are it\'s liable to get wrecked at some point anyway. I got a replacement bonnet for it, couldnt find a red one but have found a blue one. Any recommendations for a cheap job ( not aerosol cheap ) cheers Phil
  5. keeping your negative obserations quiet? what are you doing now then?
  6. Motor City, Great North Rd. Looked like a decent garage, and the first salesman seemed quite keen to help, just went downhill quite quickly from there.
  7. I wouldnt want this to escalate, having said that, I\'ve told no lies....... No, not fast 4\'s.
  8. I\'m writing this whilst still in a state of shock........ As we do most weekends, the wife and I were driving around various Auckalnd garages looking at cars. Been around the shore, through New Lynn, Pt Chev and Western Springs and while talking to one of the sales guys I said I was looking at Impreza Wrx\'s & STi\'s. He hadn\'t got anything but reckoned one of the dealers on K Rd would have what we were after. Went up, had a look. They\'d got a couple of \'02/03 WRxSTi\'s, a bit high on the K\'s but worth seeing anyway. Then one of their salesman suggest I look at the black one in the showroom " you\'ll really like it" he said. At first glance it looked good, not great, but worth a 2nd look. A different salesman came over to start a conversation about the car as I was walking around it. Then I mentioned to the wife that the paint work looked like it had had a bit of a hard life. Dont get me wrong, stone chips and car park dings are par for the course and initially this didnt look any worse than any other 10yr old car. ( now i\'m no expert on paint, but to the un-trained eye it almost looked as if it MAY have had some work ) Then, next minute, the old boy from the office out the back came out and told me to go to the local car supermarket & start picking their stock to pieces. Perhaps I should go back when I know what I\'m talking about. I told him I\'ve owned five of these, so I know exactly what i\'m talking about. He then tells me to get out of his show room, get off his site before calls the police and get me arrested for trespass? He also starts shouting at my wife and when she asked him if he was the owner he said he was, she replied that she felt sorry for his customers but left straight away. 2hrs later I\'m still shaking my head in disbelief A couple of points. 1, I worked in the motor trade in the UK for 15yrs and never, ever would I ever speak to a potential customer like that. 2, I may only be one customer, but in the 3 1/2 years i\'ve been back in NZ i\'ve bought, or been involved in the buying process for family members on 19 vehicles. 3, If you want to advertise a vehicle as " in absolutely immaculate condition " MAKE SURE IT IS 4, Shout your customer down if you feel the need, but remember, he has a voice too ( and the internet is a powerful thing ) That all I have to say for now, just a rant, thanks for listening. Phil
  9. Yup, straight swap. Thats what I did in the end. cheers

  13. Hi Guys, problem solved. buy a used kenwood factory head unit from a 2006 ( nz new ) legacy. now only have single cd player - but all nz radio stations. small, square, white plug on back i suspect is for cd changer ( although my car doesnt have one ) i'm wondering where it goes. doesnt appear to got to underneath passenger seat. i was thinking about finding the other end of this lead and finding a way of getting ipod working through it. any thoughts? Merry Christmas and a safe and happy new year to you all cheers, Phil
  14. hi,my radio is the same but my 04 legacy has a different screen. the buttons are across the bottom on this one. someone stands to make a killing when one of us finds a cure for this one ;D cheers, phil
  15. thanks boost, just been out playing. managed to get the glovebox out, but in looks like the black trim panel to the left of the radio/heater control assy needs to come out to do it properly, do you think thats correct? or have i missed something phil
  16. hi guys, starting to lose all hope of finding a satisfactory, yet affordable answer. i am starting to thing about following keltiks example and going the carputer route. not the cheapest answer but if i'm going to spend money it might as well be on something useful. ideally i could do with ripping it all out and setting it up on a bench to work out whats what, but i doubt i'll get that one past the wife so i'll have to do it in stages. does anyone know how to remove the screen? and the nav unit in the glove box? i could go and spend an hour in the car undoing everything until it falls out but if someone has already done it, it may save me some time. cheers, phil
  17. hi guys, when i spoke to rapid radio 2 weeks ago the guy basically said we're screwed. no way to get nav working, radio needs to be ripped out and start again, using the new a/c control facia. just got the impression he just wanted me to hand over lots of money for a new install. not really much help, but i suppose thats what he's paid to do. still hunting for a remedy phil
  18. retrieved the keys from the wife, took my son to play soccer. threaten to stuff some bloke up his own exhaust if he touched my car again, took some photos ( of the car ) put them on here, then cleaned it, might do that the other way round next time. cheers all Phil
