  1. Alex had mine tested, I'll have a look at my receipts...
  2. Expect to pay something like $400 on TM. Or you could buy a new friction plate and send your cover away to be rebuilt/upgraded.

    dsr turbo

If the crankcase has been split and uprated internals designed to cope with higher stresses; then it is not stock. Obviously without head work then it will perform like stock only more efficient and stronger. I don't want to get into a circle jerk over all this. To be honest I didn't even notice Geoff's comment. It's not a matter of opinion; it isn't stock.

Stock would mean as it left the factory. So not stock.

    STI rough idle

Small variations in the idle are not to be unexpected. A high idle when cold is normal. Is it missing at light or medium throttle input?
  6. They are supposed to be smaller. NA do not react the same way to increases in the exhaust system diameter as a with a compressor. It will reduce back pressure and make for a more doughy drive. If any sort of size increase is desired then think in small increases of 1/8's and 1/4's also mandrel bent turns.
  7. Check your intake plumbing and Bov for leaks.

  10. I think this guy maybe on CS but I can't remember his name. Ask for some pictures. http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/Car-parts-accessories/Subaru/Engines/auction-305214017.htm
  11. B4 2000 Do you have a single turbo conversion performed on your RSK?
  12. No differences in the engine in that sense. Both have Hydraulic lifter type heads, that are identical. As long as everything has been measured accordingly then you should be fine.
  13. V8 would be the best of the factory offerings. But only worth it if you had a half cut or all of the conversion parts.
  14. I can't see a deal in this.. $250 for a setup that unless he is handy with a set, he will have to pay to have it made to suit. Not including the sump etc. When for another $250 he could easily have his pick of 2nd hand aftermarket EL headers.
  15. I should dig up the data of how much stiffer the GD is over the outgoing GC. Shout yourself a pipe and slippers too.
  16. Generally speaking it would be about $500 to have the engine apart and on a bench for appraisal. I would think that the insurance company would have there own mechanics or a choice of who are able to carry out claim work. As stated, a lot of times major components can be reused, Pistons, rods, crankshaft. Where are you based?
  17. They are Factory equal length with the heat shielding removed. With the up pipe being the only modification. Have you done a Single turbo conversion? If not then they will be of no use to you. If you have, then for $250 I'd being saving up for one of the many various Equal length offerings available.
  18. Careosel. Do yourself a favor and take some detailed photos to post up. Helping you out here is like giving a haircut over the phone.

Never ever reuse the OE oil cooler after the engine runs a bearing. Either source new or go for a 2nd hand one from a motor that had done a head gasket or the like.

    Uppipe

02-05 WRX have a cat in the up pipe.
