  1. Back to the top Taking on work now as a sole trader so hit me up on 0273264724 anything mechanical and paint/panel.. i have 5180 decastar mig coming is only setup for mild steel with c02 atm but i plan to get it set up with argon before long to weld stainless and alloy.
  2. Imo if your only running 820cc injectors then a td05/06 20g or something in a 8cm s.s t3 housing will be plenty enough as you would end up maxing out the injectors before the turbo ne way. i wouldn't trust ebay boon and shipping cost will be up there bro they are heavy, your always best buying local holsets theres plenty out there but if op wanted to go holset then he will also need t.s setup unless you machine out a s.s housing, a bigger slip on housing and comp wheel is a good idea depending on which size you have as there are many flavours. You can buy in genuine holset kits and parts from denco diesels btw
  3. Autosol does a great job on alloy like most polishable metals , I love autosol best polish you can buy and its one of the cheapest! Those scratches look deep. Problem with going through all those grades of sand paper is you will pickup grits and dirt as your rubbing and scratch it up again. if i wanted to be a ahole to other motorist and shine up me alloy hood so it blinds oncoming traffic i would strip it, go 800 wet then 1200 wet then slow da polish with autosol and wipe over with microfibre cloths . buff it then get some renaissance wax on there to slow down the oxidization process.. i use renaissance wax on polished rims and recently the brass and copper on 40year old marine engine parts, seems to work to a degree but you have to keep applying it
  4. I have a set of struts they look to be good condition red ones in the front and standard black in the rear i won't be using seeing i have bc's going in the Wagon pm me if you get stuck! Painted the roof vent
  5. Version 3 is completely different dash loom and different plugs to version 4, also version3 is cable driven speedo and version 4 is electronic. Version 4 is different again to both version 5/6 even though they look the same cluster they are not. You'll have to re loom the whole car to go from v3 to v4 The steering column is another thing that comes to mind..you will need a version 4 one with the combo switch and steering wheel as they are all different.. then you have to find a spacer to fit the big hole in the firewall or you can mod the version 3 column with the version 4 but you will need a welder and some skill.. you could be opening a can of worms here for such little gain lol
  6. Just Below 90 is normal a few things play a part in operating temperature night and day can but will mainly depend on when your themostat opens and when your thermofans switch on/off..
  7. About a year ago i tried ordering a full set from japanparts after i placed it they replied to my order by stating the interior plastic trim is obsolete now and subaru do not make it anymore so i got a refund.. im not sure about the above link parts may not be genuine trim? but never the less there is no point proceeding with the mod unless you have all the bits and you need the interior trim to mark out the hole and position the rear bracket( well at least the way i do it).. i have recently fitted another one will post up how to soon as i fit the lining etc. is fairly straight forward
  8. Forgot to put split pin back in selector fork or the selector fork is broken.. the alloy selector forks are weak points and they do bend and snap which is why the ra boxes got steel selector fork v2 on
  9. If your dropping in block halves then you need to supply the pistons and rings so they can check clearances and make sure its not tapered etc.You might get away with a deglaze but again it depends. Its also a good idea to drop in the crank to get it checked same time Russell will be happy to check it suitability so then you know if you should need standard bearings or not. In most cases you would order a set of piston 0.50mm oversized so you have room to machine or standard size sleeve with standard size pistons will do it. But you won't know till you drop it off
  10. Just get your subaru block bits from armstrong subaru there isn't alot to them.
  11. I would stay away from hpe, Long story but Gavin is a toss pot basically. You can get the block machined and decked at hills road engine reconditioners, Russell is good guy to deal with and another name that springs to mind is Peter at Kenelley Cams for anything above the block just on battersea st up from hpe. The problem with a old block and 92mm pistons is by the time you machine the bores out the piston to wall clearance might be out and or ring gap to large so you might be up for new os pistons or sleeve the block.. i've got a centre thrust crank here you can have it for 100 if you want
  12. Again they don't have centre diffs or transfer cases they have a clutch pack. Try Change the fluid first if you haven't done so. the whole automatic transmission is reliant on good fluid. The noise your hearing is the binding of the clutches in the clutch pack. If it was me i would drop out what fluid is in the pan to see how deteriorated it is then go from there Worst case is you replace fix soleniod and clutch pack
  13. I have fixed quite a few knock cel codes via replacement of the afm on v5/v6 and tts of that gen Sometimes you can get away with a clean but most of the time it will need replacement. Subaru armstrong have knock sensors for 70-80 dollars. I have both functioning parts here
  14. Thats Funkytown style, double rainbow/double spoiler what more could you want;)
  15. You shouldn't have any problems if you use as intended but that do wear out, ive been through a few sca jacks, My fav is a 3.5 ton powerbuilt jack i bought over 5 years ago think it was around 300 from repco i don't think they do that size anymore but i couldn't be without that jack today, i've even picked up small trucks with backlifts with it no worries couldn't do that with anything from supercheap
  16. Heres where you can buy parts or buy new set. http://www.rallispec.com/aer_gc8_rst6540.html
  17. Can't help but notice afm being mentioned twice from 2 good members but seems to be falling on deaf ears. i have a few here working.. Wondering if the cel codes are clear? You can try clean with afm cleaner but you need to use a cotton swab soaked in afm cleaner to gentle wipe over the sensor part. Does it have a pod filter or factory?
  18. Hold out haha Thats fine then bro maybe when you ask another question a member that knows the answer might not want to post it because he or she already knows the answer lol?

  21. There some really cool pearls out there to add to 1k colours or layer on top with clear! no need to buy expensive 3 layer pearl paint kits to get the whoa effect. http://www.specialistpaints.com/products/pearl-paint You can buy pearl powder from any decent automotive paint supply shop. Subaru black mica 47a is a color that comes to mind having pearl in it(red pearl) other than that its just black base coat paint.
  22. Most likely re spray silver with blue pearl in paint. Doesnt cost much more to add to the paint but to much can change the colour of the paint and have a nil effect.. you should only be able to see the pearl colour in the right light on the edges etc. Mixing pearl into the clear can bring up the effect even more but you only need a little bit in the clear i get good results with 2 double wet coats with pearl clear mix and then clear coats over that 3-4 times You can also pearl clear over flat colours to get the same effect but seems more dazzling if its mixed with the paint as well
  23. Well you got me at first! I offered some semis then seen the date and edited my post lol can't be still searching after nearly 2 years.. only a joker would do that so i guess its ok for you lol
  24. Doh! the thread is nearly 2 years old lmao
