ether the rods need to be changed or the rod pin centre,s in pistons need to change position. Because of the 4ml difference in the stroke. hope this helps.
: little mesh filter is more than likely the problem then, it must not be getting the attention it needs, or should be throwin away, an only use genuine oil filters. ;D

try goodyear eagle ds-3s i found them excellent in the wet an reasonably priced, oh an they wear well. They are a little noisey on big chip roads. Had them on a 1996 v3 sti wagon on 17s.
etf just check for cracks & missin teeth it is no big job. some people make mountins outa mole hills it seems.Ya dont even have to remove the radiator to replace the belt, idlers, tensioner & water pump.
DRFVDR you were bloody lucky with that belt an nut not damaging anything, i hope you are going to replace the belt if not already i would as soon as possible good luck.
