  2. you get a student allowance mate... you don't have to pay that shit back. Those of us that weren't eligible have a loan so don't be crying too much on here about it
  3. I got told cat converters can make this smell....not sure if its true or not...
  4. or do that thing on NZTA website that protects your information...theres a link in general isn't there?
  5. Are you talking about me or Baz! I do enjoy a good bbq though, that's one thing for sure. So re: Mechanic Day Cam Belt - I just bought replacement turbos for my wagon, is there going to be the expertise to help me unbolt old ones and bolt new ones on...remembering my noobness as well. Also Nick, I am guessing you guys have a pretty good tool inventory with your lovely doing her mechanic training? Have you decided on menus yet i.e. what can I bring along?
  6. Ahhhhhhahahaha quoting Wikipedia as a source, classic. Don't think i need to say anything else.
  7. Hey guys, would appreciate if anyone could let me know if the primary off a 1996 BG5 Legacy with an EJ20H could have any primary off any series as a replacement? I haven't pulled the old one off yet so don't know what model it is but I'm guessing VF13...
  8. boostin said using multi meter one end attached to metal bit in middle of sensor and other end attached to plug, resistance should be >0.400 from memory (may be wrong figure). Then to understand if it's working under heat lightly clamp it in a vice and get your missus hair dryer and slowly heat it whilst tapping the vice gently with a hammer to see if resistance is changing.... All of that from memory so sorry if it's a bit off
  9. saw a sign outside Maclennan today "$25 WOF's, book in before 10am"
  10. def spray paint, rep off and supercr4p will have a colour chart at the paint cabinet and will have the code for your year Suby will cost about $15 from memory
  11. yeah I will hopefully tomorrow get the shields off and check it out, I honestly can't tell if it is blowing smoke out the back as it was bloody cold in Wellington last night so lots of condensation escaping exhaust. Plenty of smoke out the front when I pulled up home but unfortunately don't have a garage or decent light to look and see where smoke was coming from. Will get the heat shield off tomorrow, tools? Sockets & screwdrivers? I guess remove intercooler and then go from there?
  12. no CEL or codes, lots of smoke from passenger side near turbo after 15 mins driving but was dark so couldnt see exactly where it was coming from. Turbo response poor and oil dripping under front left but can't see where its coming from
  13. I'll check codes tomorrow and go from there
  14. yeah bro it's oil. No doubt about it, just drove home from work and is very hesitant under load to the point of almost cutting out and plenty of oil in the tail pipe. Couldnt figure out if it was just condensation or smoke coming out the rear as only live 5 min from work.
  15. Hey guys, What is the most likely reason for small amounts of oil in the exhaust (swipe finger just inside rear lip of muffler and finger picks up oil). Vehicle is BG5 Legacy TT. I have noticed that primary turbo seems very weak since I noticed the oil so is it possible that is poked and sending oil into the exhaust system? Appreciate any help. Cheers, Ben
  16. what is a front cut btw out of interests sake?
  17. If I'm as much of a noob that I don't know what a front cut is then theres no way I should be playing with spot welds etc...
  18. yup know I need a panel beater not gonna try a DIY or anything. Was just thinking it might be cheaper to have it replaced than repaired. Thanks for the help
  19. Hey guys, does anyone know the technical name of the circled brace thing in the photo below? Also, is it easily removed i.e. undo bolts and it's gone, put new one in, line everything up and bolt it up? Better still, does anyone have a wrecked GDB Legacy in Wellington and is willing to sell me one? I had a small nose to tail incident and my bonnet, along with this part are bent and if its just bolts would be much cheaper to replace than get repaired. Cheers, Ben
  20. cheers bro, unfortunately there appears to be a flaw in the replacement sensors casing, I will post a pic tomorrow. Best way of warming it up?
