  1. And you can legally have a speedo that 10% out (wof standards) so yes you could be driving at 100km/hr on your speedo but be pulled over for speeding just one of those things
  2. Not entirely true, if it is a digital odometre then that is taken from the ECU, the speed and distance covered I have found on testing using OBD readers is way more accurate at the ECU, so i came to the conclusion that it is actually only in the speedo head itself. I have tested this on 8 toyotas and 1 mercedes all have been about 10% out speed wise on speedo but pretty damn close on both speed and distance via ecu, this was checked using an APP on my phone and compared to GPS
  3. does it have the correct size tires on it NOT wheels but you will find that most vehicles speedos from factory read over by 10% ( they do this on purpose)
  4. http://www.trademe.co.nz/a.aspx?id=694798722
  5. Having thoughts........ maybe good ones may be bad ones but bound to be fun
  6. Not only Subaru most modern cars the Stereo is part of the facia/AC controls/ integrated into car
  7. this which is part of this out of this has made me spend $8k in parts
  8. Now thats Kiwi ingenuity. they go well with my candle sticks I made many years ago ( this was my first attempt have since made 2 more sets )
  9. made some door stops cv joints plus old wheel weights
  10. you may find that ANY modern vehicle, whether advertised or not has some extent of VSC, some are able to be switched "OFF" ( usually only partially) if it has ABS then more than likely it will have VSC
  11. The black thing protruding from the centre: cassette tape (Bon Jovi - Slippery When Wet. Class of \'87) I brought one of these for my brother for xmas, he loves it says it works mint maybe a good way to update an old head unit I have seen bluetooth one as well but have not seen them for sale http://www.ebay.com/itm/200922820491?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649
  12. Cheers, looked on TM, nothing at the moment. Computer shops were useless. Damn multi-formats- Slimport, micro USB, MHL - all look the same but are incompatible. Grrrrrr I could post you mine to see if it works it was an hdmi adapter so may not do slimport
  13. what comes with a slimport ? EDIT ok so nexus devices I have one here that has 4 ends, one HDMI to 3 different ports ( micro USB,normal USB and one other) I thought I got it off trademe but maybe it was of ebay Edit 2 Yup got one from trademe
  14. remove and follow wires it will become clear
  15. tell you what as you dont seem to believe what we have told you, why not fit them and see what happens or if you go here http://www.nzta.govt.nz/resources/rules/tyres-and-wheels-2001-index.html and troll through all the rules and amendments and figure it out yourself
  16. i would remove every thing and start again, check that all of the cam/crank gears are inline ( use a straight edge) check that all of the idlers are square to the block and cam/crank gears ( use straight edge/square)
  17. have you tried a different belt ? may be a belt issue
  18. is it a manual ? is it an early car ( legacy 89-93 Wrx 93-95) if so then the reverse switch in your gear box is probably fill of oil, either replace it or clean it out
  19. And now you are trying to remove it to fix the buggered wheel bearing ? pretty much these are non adjustable if they get play they are on the way out. all I can suggest is take it to a tire shop, get them to rattle it off then re tighten to some extent to get you home, I would not drive far is all.
  20. looks to me like there is a guide missing from the crankshaft ( well all the subaru ones i have done there is a wee washer on the outside of the crank gear) also check that the adjuster bolt is not cross threaded and the idler is not on an angle
  21. I am wondering if the chip itself can be moved ? I have just done this with a case for my hilux, the buttons were worn out of my old one, brought new key of ebay, had it cut at locksmiths, transferred the button bits over BUT then truck would not start( I thought the immobiliser was part of the buttons but nope) it is a wee separate bit that is epoxied into key housing cut it out of old key and put it in new key now it all works
  22. oh well it is here if you change your mind it belongs to one of my employee\'s sons
  23. The virm is a guideline based on the regulations, so if you are looking at something using the guideline and you have further questions then you dig deeper into the actual regulation. I could find out about the use of alloy nuts by going thru the regulations but I cant be bothered. when it comes down to it I would not use alloy nuts on a road car, they are not as strong as steel, you can get "pretty" steel ones and the weight saving would be negligible
