  1. Yes. Removing the top vacuum line will prevent the ECV on the secondary from opening preventing it from spooling. That said it pretty rare to have a blown secondary, they have very little load on them compared to the primary.
  2. Cant really hear anything obvious from that video either. Take a length of hose pipe and put your ear to one end a place the other end on turbo core if you can isolate the sound to the turbo then it may be your problem. Your GT wont have a secondary wastegate so you cant use Brads method, however you can prevent the secondary from opening by removing the vac line that runs to the top part of the secondary exhaust actuator.
  3. Can you pinpoint the noise to the turbo? If its producing blue smoke then it burning oil somewhere, possibly the oil seals in the turbo.
  4. Ah right had the feeling the Rev D legacy had it. Might try to pinch the plug from a wrecked one.
  5. I had a quick look under the dash this morning a didnt see one there are several blank ones under there. Does your GC8 have one?
  6. Bugger. What year did they add the blank plug? Dont really want to hack up the harness. Might have make up a new harness with a plug on it.
  7. Does the BE/BH have the spare plug under the dash to run the Genome controller or does it need to hard wired in?
  8. And don't forget the restrictor pill.
  9. Same on BH from memory.. Ive programmed it on my BE. Does your drivers door beep when you hold the drivers door handle open with the door locked? If it doesnt yours may not be equipped.
  10. Remember he is talking about the downpipes not headers.
  11. Is this from a performance point of view or are you having problems with overly high engine bay temps? By the sounds of it your thinking of it as a power modification, in which case you would be throwing your money away. The stock shields are there for a reason and as said factory mild steel + heat wrap is just asking for rust. As for wrapping the AFM to lower temps? Not sure what your on about there, the intake is plastic so heat transfer isnt really an issue.
  12. Other way around you will have slower spool-up on VF31, VF33 has the fastest spool having a very small exhaust housing but runs out of puff pretty quick.
  13. Yes VF33 is unique amongst the all the OEM twin turbos with a larger compressor inlet. You may away with making an adapter sleeve to fit over inlet but probably easier to just get the correct turbo.
  14. Ill admit they dont sound great on YT but they do sound much better in real life. As said they dont produce the raw savage noise that aftermarket systems produce but you've got to remember that not everyones into getting attention everytime they drive down the main street.
  15. As said above, no noticeable increase in brightness and not a direct swap. Benefits are purely cosmetic. That said I did the mod a few years back on my TSR and I would still call it a worth while upgrade if you can get the projectors for a good price.
  16. Top gear review. http://www.topgear.com/uk/car-news/subaru-brz-review-first-drive-2012-28-2
  17. As I said above why doesn't it fit? Does the turbo that came off run a square flange or the factory Subaru triangle shaped flange?
  18. They did with the 3rd gen Legacy so it wouldnt surprise me.
  19. Why wont the VF14 fit? All the secondary turbos have the same fitment. That said a VF14 is an old turbo using older technology I would go for a VF27 or factory VF32.
  20. 2001 is a change over year.. Revision C or D? Factory set up for Rev C is VF31/VF32 and Rev D changed the primary from a VF31 to a VF33 giving it a VF33/VF32 combo. It wont have a VF13 on the secondary side unless someone has created a hybrid turbo using a different exhaust housing.

    Legacy TS?

If its fitted with an airbag you will have a hard time legally removing it to fit a early momo wheel. Best just get a momo airbag wheel from a 96-98 GT/TSR

    Legacy TS?

Obviously they arent the best for a city runaround being full time awd and long wheel base. But very verstile for everything else. Fit loads in them, sleep in them as long as you arent over 6ft tall, good on rough roads and snow yet comfortable on long trips. Note the TS has dull un-bolstered from seat, chuck in a cheap set of TSR/GTB/WRX seats if you dont fancy being throw out of your seat everytime you hit a twisty peice of road.

    Legacy TS?

Average open road consumption of my 99' B4 TT is around the same if not better than my old 96 TSR. And yes, TS is good basic wagon. Same running gear as TSR without the fancy bits. Had one for a work wagon, performed perfectly until someone in a Surf with bullbars decided to rear-end it.
  24. Its right in behind the cam cover. Can take it off without taking the cam cover off but it requires a 14mm stubby spanner. I bought a $2 spanner from supercheap that I was going to cut down to use.. havent got around to it yet
