To be honest, yes I see people get antsy but usually it's an issue of their mentality in general. Not towards just Subarus.

I'm not a saint either however. Some people really piss me off by just sheer idiocy or how uncourteous they are on the road.

For example, people who see you're indicating and wanting to pass up passing lane but put out infront of you only for them to take a millennium to pass and even longer to get back in their bloody lane then get crappy at you and high beam you when you mash the throttle to pass them.

Or on highways where PEOPLE WON'T MOVE TO THE LEFT even though it's the god damn law.

Yeah I dont usually get road rage at all, im used to seeing dumb/slow/fast drivers- even people not even looking the direction they are driving. but I seem to have a weak point when im in the situation above ^^

Cant stand slowies that dont get out of the way of people trying to maintain a swift (and legal) speed on the motorway. any attempt at passing means they go slower - which is worse as people are more likely to try and overtake in frustration which is much more risky imo

@THUNDA compressor surge is when you put your foot up it at low rpm and the turbo tries to force too much air into the engine which causes the compressor to chop the air. That's not real healthy for the turbo.

The dose pipe thing is bad for some turbos.

Easy way to tell between the 2 is ones on acceleration the others on lift off.

Yup, so just to clarify , the zut zut zut flutter noise is compressor surge? Or is there a different name for that?

  3. Sounds like compressor surge? you put your foot down, and before any/much boost is built up you take your foot off and it flutters?

nothing wrong with that imo, i always have my bov on full strength, because anything apart from full strength it makes a MASSIVE bov release and it sound even when im trying not to boost each gear lol. so i too get the flutter. if thats the case - no worries. but definately put a lil video to be sure imo.

Cant remember but didnt you do the snorkel delete? if you recently did then that will be exactly whats happened, youll hear what the bov does/doesnt do more than before

  4. Nar I made plans to hit the mx track once I gave up hope of getting to the street fighters thing, i need to go fast for therapeutic reasons. Happy to give my ticket away to anyone who wants it, if its the same as the last track ticket i gave away I just need to pm the organisers for a name swap - so message me whoever wants a race pass

Anyone looking at getting this cheap deal should considering avoiding

Went to look at this today as I was in the area - never seen boot rust so bad + such a bad cover up job (looks like its been repaired badly 3-4 times and last repair has also failed), no fault of the people currently selling it - it was a trade in

also has a misfire - was going to offer 2000 cash - popped the boot and DANG, no way jose

  6. 1st things first - Definitely clean your AFM and loose the oily filter imo.

Then after that give your Idle control valve a good clean out.

Id say coil packs are fine because they commonly break down under boost, so when its hot and your boost is strong - then the coil packs are doing their jobs :)

Id also say its highly unlikely its you head gaskets, probably the last thing id check on a very long list :)

  7. One of the vac lines that goto that black canister will lead back up to where the 3 vac outputs are on the top of the manifold (where vac line for the BOV is), its the safest line to disconnect, imo. as most people ive seen with bc5s just remove that old canister completely, mines been in the garage for over a year now lol, 20 years of filtering - it isnt doing S*** now imo :)

  8. Most people with BC5s that i have seen just remove the vac line on the Exhaust gas recirc thing (black cannister behind drivers headlight) and use the output on the intake manifold for the boost gauge vac line instead. best not to "T" into anything, direct source = more accurate reading = not messing with other vac operated valves

nice one @THUNDA I use meguiars hot wheels which is probably the cheaper choice but ive got to really get in there with the water blaster to take the road sludge off. Just out of interest are your tires directional?

Not sure sorry, the ones I'll be selling are Bridgestone RE002s, 2have good tread, other 2 have good tread but inner edges are worn, probably best for someone wanting some good track tyres without forking out for new ones, will do a deal for cs members when I sell them

  10. Tried Dragons breath today, pretty happy with results, not much elbow grease required, rims that had the product on the longest came up the best, so do the full 10mins if they are stubborn with using other products, looks like it melts the brake/road stains off the paint. interesting product.

Will have a set of RE002s for sale in a week or 2, they are 225/45/17

Will also have 2 Spare v7 wheels which ill be selling seperately for people who want a full size rim in the boot instead of the space saver

The set I currently have on the RS has 1 Bent wheel and 1 wheel with abit more curbing on it than I like.

So when I get the RS back ill be using the best 5, swapping my D2 Semi Slicks onto them so ive got a semi slick on the spare in the boot aswell :P

Oh and cheers for the wheels @4G63B8 ^_ ^

They sell filters that don't need oil etc etc?

Yeah I guess so, mine never came with oil, even if it did i wouldnt oil it, but thats just me. cars come factory with paper panel filters with no oil, keep it simple and dont start using oil after 20years of it being fine without it, + if youre still running the factory afm the oil F***s with them anyway, i dont run an afm at all now so doesnt bother me either way :)

I could be wrong though, there may be filters out there that spontaniously explode without a small amout of oil on them lol

Last time I was at pickapart a lot of the Subies there were probably in because of BHG and general running into the ground, the rest looked crashed. Found a crack pipe in the back of a BD Legacy too :)

I'm going to put this theory to the test when I clean my throttle body and AFM, I'm gonna fit a CAI with a non-oiled filter!

    Nice

yeah my Rs has a k&n pod un oiled.

I too too have found drug paraphernalia in pickapart subis lol, a lot of them have alcohol bottles and cds scattered everywhere also

At what point am I supposed to admit I have a problem? ....I need to sell a set.

In times like these we have to band together, as we all share the same addiction, we need to help each other, by selling me your v7 wheels :P:P:P

yes i need more v7 wheels muahahahahaaa

i need at least 2 sets, everyone needs 2, incase one set gets lost

  14. Cold air intake or not, the car has enough sensors to work out any difference. Imo. Anything from factory air box to pod to pod within another box to no filter at all with just a stocking over the afm have all worked the same on all the old Subis I've owned lol. Yes I was young once and used to do stupider stuff than stocking over afm :)

  15. Wait till it's cold and out some pressure on it while revving? Pretty sure on the downpipe there are sometimes those steel worm hose clamps that get loose and rattle, I would say just take them off, but 7 times out of 10 the little bolts just snap off from being so corroded so you can't put them back on :)

lol my inner modder now lives vicariously through you so i need you to recoup as much money as possible so you can keep modding the crap out of the RS , it's in both our best interests :P

hahahaha cheers man, the v7 wheels are back on it now, and combined with the new Dunlop d2's & new slimline lug nuts. it definately looks a tonne better than with the rays on, theres no turning back now the v7 wheels are here to stay ^_ ^

  17. New engine is a good sign in any high kms car your looking at buying

But ONLY if they have receipts, for work done, for parts, anything.

Most people who do pay to have their engines changed keep the receipt because they know thats the only proof the engines been changed.

So if they dont have receipts, they are likely to be full of S***. or they've done it themselves, and in that case they'd have receipts for parts even if they got some of them from wreckers.
