  1. Hi Guys, I\'ve got an 2004 3.0L Outback which isn\'t getting up to temp on the open road. Went to subaru today to get a new thermostat. They checked the car in the system as they said there is a pretty standard thermostat and then occasionally a different part number. Mine turned out to be the different one. None in stock in Hawkes Bay and Subaru NZ not open until the 6th Jan Out of interest does anyone know the the difference and what vehicles have the different thermostat?
  2. Got the registration details today. "Subaru Legacy" Nothing about being an outback... Wonder who registered it like that.
  3. My outback is registered as a Subaru Legacy Outback. When I called about insurance they checked carjam. They quoted it as a legacy. I ended up going in to get them to change the insurance quote to an outback which is actually cheaper to insure then a legacy.
  4. I've got a front and rear BL5 Cusco swaybar sitting in the garage. Haven't got round to putting it on or selling it. Interested?
  5. If money was no object I'd go for an Audi Q7 V12 lol 6.0l V12 Diesel, 1000 Nm Torque, 500Hp. Got a spare $255,500?
  6. Cheers thanks for the help. All done
  7. This the one? Have managed to feed it through and get it out the other end!
  8. Ok, there are a few holes with black stickers over them. Will have a poke around. May take a photo if I'm having trouble.
  9. Thanks Ichi Ban, Where do you run the cable to get it through the boot floor? Through the tyre well grommet?
  10. Hi Guys, Got a Jap import 04 BL5 GT Legacy and have a factory towbar to install. The kit comes with the wiring and says, connect to the plug behind the drivers tail light. There is no plug behind the tail light. Is there any harm just splicing into the wiring on a BL5?
  11. You can buy a replacement console plate from Japanparts.com. Here is a link to the product http://goo.gl/YNggw Buy the time you have purchased this and a stereo its not cheap. I just purchased an Ipod cable and leaving the factory stereo.
  12. Subaru changed mine. They had to get a security code from japan for the replacement cluster and register it with the BCU. Without the code you couldn't start the car.
  13. Yeah and I said bnt's only show generals in their system. They have to ring someone at head office to see if they can get heavy duty or ultimates next week when they are back from leave. So far the only option is factory pads. Hence why I'm asking in here because I can't find anything...
  14. Subaru quoted $158 incl gst Bnt bendix General ct $100 incl gst
  15. Oh yeh have used the search a lot. But there are no specific threads on BL/BP's at all. What I'm finding is that not a lot of companies seem to make aftermarket pads and discs for them. When I was looking for discs for the car they were all more expensive then Brembo After market discs. Some were quoting $800+ for a set of front slotted discs. Znoelli told me there just isn't a market for them. They are quite large at 316mm. Everyone on here seems to recommend going to race brakes in Auckland. I can't find any other recommended suppliers to go to first. Is there anyone else? I'm not looking for 'Race pads' just something decent.
  16. Hi Guys, Have been looking for some front brake pads for my 04 Legacy GT for ages (havent been putting much effort into it...) Just looking for a good set of road pads with plenty of bite. Current factory discs are pretty warped, they have been machined once. Have a new set of factory discs in the garage to go on with the pads. Thought I'd do a trip around the local shops first. Repco, total waste of time, don't have the car in their computer, too much effort to look up any books, "Is it a BH legacy" after giving details so many times... "You said it was a wagon aye", "No thats a BP chassis but if you have that in your system that will do...." they didn't find anything. Supercheap is a waste of time. BNT's have bendix. Would be interested in Ultimates but have no idea on price. BNT's only have the "General CT" model (plus they only have one set in the country..) in their system. They would have to ring someone next week when they are back from leave... Factory pads seem a bit expensive and would rather go aftermarket. What would you guys recommend and from where? Until I hear back from BNT's next week I don't have many options. thanks
  17. umm think that was an s401 not s402 an MY08 GT Spec B could cost you $35 - $40K, so an s402 would go for $55K+ or a hell of a lot more ?
  18. not bad will look into it. Factory pads or go with something else? Sorry for hijacking the thread
  19. mine were machined 15000km ago and shuddering again. Finding that BL/BP discs are expensive. Znoelli said more expensive then brembo since nothing uses that size. Currently best price is for RDA discs. Haven't priced Subaru yet after hearing how expensive the brembo discs are... Any idea what genuine are worth? 316mm.
  20. Are they BNT branded discs or something else? Currently also looking for discs.
  21. Have a look at http://tiny.cc/PBcsr
  22. Hi, My BL5 Legacy GT developed a bit of a suspension rattle yesterday on the front Left corner. Had a look today and one of the 3 top hat studs that secures the strut to the chassis has snapped off. I've got an autosure Platinum plus warranty with no excess. What are my chances of getting this repaired under warranty? Anyway if I can't I'm going to have to take the strut out. Can you just replace these studs on the top hat? or do you have to replace the whole hat? If I'm going to take it out I might as well do all 3 studs. I recall seeing a topic not long ago about something similar but can't find it.
  23. Did a can this morning. Was highly disappointed... No smoke at all, nothing. Just stunk a little bit. Must have been pretty clean which is good. Going to try a BH5 GTB next weekend. Should be a bit dirtier.
  24. Going to run a can of this through my BL5. I'm actually having trouble finding a vacuum line... The bl5 has a plastic looking intake manifold so looks different to the pics here. Is the very small line going to the top of the factory BOV a vacuum line I can use? What about the large brake booster vacuum line?
  25. Well I went ahead and got the Cusco sway bars. Went to put them in this morning and got a bit pissed off when I found I had to drop the exhaust to get the rear bar off/on... Wasn't too easy lying on my back trying to do it... damn dual exhaust. Haven't driven it much yet but there is a definate reduction in body roll which is great. Looking at the Cusco website the front bar is a 132% increase (21 to 23mm) and the rear 224% increase (19mm to 21mm) so with a larger increase in the rear this should hopefully help with understeer that subaru's generally have? But in saying that I have never pushed the car to the limit of grip so haven't really had either.
