  1. Ever tried getting anything from a wrecker period ? Nuff said Stock Toyota turbos are junk Toyota gearboxes are severely over priced Curt Whittaker blew a 2jz this season Cole blew a fully forged rb30 Andrew redward blew a rb Mad mike blew his 4 rotor last season I could keep going - basically no motors bullet proof when it's being abused on the rev limiter all it's track life
  2. We must be on different planets - Nissan parts are as cheap as chips - and get cheaper as time goes on as stuff is only getting even older bulletproof engines but family car shells IMO. engine conversion ftw. Been done before - hugos ae86 HAD a turbod f20c - he binned it for a rotor RBs and JZs aren't as great as they're made out to be - rb has a huge heavy cast block and pushes weight forward in front of the axle SR - light alloy block disperses weight much better - and a square bore x stroke makes allot of torque and ability to spoil turbos quickly But that's only my opinion and by judging what ie owned in the past Toyota parts are far more expensive I am a little biased I know but aren't we all ??? [quote name='94 Leone said: All the more fun, actually much like the old column change toyota 2WD hilux's with the twitchyness. The one key thing with drifting is consistency - having a car that handles like a mongrel is no good when your pushing it to its limits - you need a car + a setup which is very predictable
  3. not cheap at all - and a proper RWD car will out drift it any day RWD subaru is all and only good for a flat peaker to do some "mean burnouts and smokeys bro" - then POP goes the drive line and or motor for the money it will cost - you will have a far far far more advanced nissan which WILL be a hell of a lot more reliable for the task
  4. not crazy at all hotter cylinder temps from higher IAT will heat the oil up
  5. ohh my bad on my statement earlier - memory was a little fuzzy lol i ment to say if a car has an air bag and a front mount is fitted - it will require cert if any thing is cut - if not cut - no cert is needed on cars pre 97 you can cut whatever you feel like under the headlights etc is fine)
  6. personally i like the look of that HKS setup but im a HKS man lol love it but why did you want to change it?? running no maf will be like a link - so yea a tune will be needed when ever you do anything - where as with maf - if its within the map its ok (to a degree)
  7. cefiros are too long for drifting - big whales - a31s are the most out dated thing out darren benjamin is doing well in a c35 however - powered via 2jz and alot of chassis mods shorter cars are much more agile - s13 14 15 180sx etc etc etc thats just me however nissan <3 :-* nissans make drifting cheaper than most other cars - engines / gearboxs / diffs and everything else is much much cheaper (mainly because so many people crash them and wreck them) plus the aftermarket parts are everywhere theres alot of things to consider when setting a car up to get sideways
  8. have seen it done to subys and mitsis - the only way its gonna last is custom sub frame + R200 diff (r160 and r180 will just keep on popping) and either bell housing adaptor or a cut and shut bell housing and use a z32 or rb25det gear box - will more than likely need to cut and weld the tranny tunnel to make it fit unless u want it to hang out and scrape the ground my 2 cents - not worth it - for the money you would put into it to make it a strong RWD setup - you could have a RWD car fully caged and ready to drift - cos once the drive train is sorted - i dont see subaru engines lasting very long getting the revs raped out of them all day long
  9. seriously ? carbon vortex? like the older mitsi ones? if this conical turbulator is as important as it seems - i would be changing that over pretty asap !
  10. by cutting of the front bar - do u mean the bumper support ? the number of times i have passed wofs with all my cars that dont even have bumper supports LOL
  11. is the stock maf tube 3 inch ? if the tube is same as stock - then the tune wouldnt need touching - if its different - either make the maf tubing the stock size - or you need a tune as a larger than stock tube WILL be running lean i dont see how turbulence which is down a straight pipe - around a bend and down even further can effect the maf signal K&N filers are crap anyway they coat the MAF wire with their oil
  12. is your maf inside the guard? i would move it back to the engine bay then it wuldnt matter about filter at all as changing turbulence into the pipe wouldnt effect the maf plus you wouldnt want the maf geting wet and getting bungggg
  13. i was under the imprssion of fitting a front mount to a car with an air bag needs a cert?
  14. out of the version 1/2 and 3/4 the 3/4 is better - those are the only manifolds able to swap btween *phase 1* your really looking formore power arnt you - once u have a oversized intake andcold air ducting - the rest is basically expensive - upgrade ecu injectors turbo etc etc
  15. like said above - the only ting that can stop an engine warming up is the themostat - ie the thermostat is stuck open
  16. To rich for my blood. Having a look at something a bit different this arvo. Probably get stoned to death for it but will see. 10k for you bruv.Cheap sti. Its a nice car and I would be keen but Its about twice the amount I was wanting to spend lol. Edit: I live in Htown now. Could pick up an STI for considerably less trololol. Tis true. Albeit raced rallied and rolled. Least with mine a. you know the car b. you know me and c. the car is mint. Sorry, that wasnt a dig at the price. I'd happily part with 10k for a nice STI v5/6 Just a little inuendo as Htown is apparently the STI capital of NZ lol STI = (sexually transmitted infection) for all those that are a little slow :I sanded and sanded an alloy oil filler spout 40,80,120 grit still got to do some in 400, 800, 1000, 1200 ;D Dunno bout you, but I think it probably is not going to be 'disease' since that doesn't start with 'I', maybe you mean 'infection'? Also, I just had to keep the quote pyramid going. hahaha funny moment right there ;D .
  17. you wont find a owner of an italian car on this forum either i clearly recall you saying you sacrifised your top end to gain mid range
  18. is this a joke? theres mre wrxs out there trying to look like a sti then there is real STIs
  19. depends ho you want the car really doesnt it? im pretty sure everyone on here knows yor all about the mid range - its all you ever talk about - but some people wll take the insane tp end over mid range
  20. ahh ive had heaps of pucks - ran a solid center in both my subys - my silver suby actully had a hyper single with light weight flywheel wich was a grippy mongrel - i love the grip ! hate lazy clutchs and allot of people say r200 LSDs are rather bulle proof - broke th crown wheel on mine
  21. only turbos your going to get bolt straight on are going to run out of puff - better to go wih a 20g (not a chinese one as theyre shit) - give your standard td05 to mr murch and get him to work his magic
  22. idk some people on here are to use to having VFs and think that 4000 4500 rpm is laggy
  23. no rally looking forward t installing it as boxs on silvias are cunts - but cant wait to have a clutch than can hold all the new ponies haha
  24. replaced my diff with a nicely shimmed up one - glad theres no more whining on the motor way - and no more clunks hhaha replacing clutch next weekend with a 5 puck cant wait
