Twin Turbo Issues - Need Help

Hey All

Got a BD5 for cheap Auto transmission twin turbo with a driver door that had been hit, spent a few hours fixing [15.5] it up and making it run and just need to sort out the last of them. Firstly it came smoking (at lest 10 packs a day) blue, white, and what other colours etc. Fix this all up and now doesn't smoke

Replaced the primary turbo as this was seized so replaced that and reset the ecu etc... Car currently doesn't have any CEL codes, it flashes advising no errors present HOWEVER:

1. On boost it surges a little and isn't smooth under load, (assuming it reaching boost) It drives find if you don't use a heavy left foot (but that isn't any fun)

2. On the motorway if i floor it it will build up surging a few times until 5k then all of sudden the RPM will drop to 0 as if it hitting some sort of cut.... (would this be boost cut, map cut ???) Its not a bad cut but the car loses all power at the time

3. Sometimes with tight turning at low speeds it shudders a little bit, other times it doesn't ( maybe needs a transmission flush?)

And no I don't have a boost gauge currently installed to see what is happening, but will try and get one shortly

Any ideas where to start looking and at what? Sorry for the question but this is the first time I've ever worked on a twin, hating it but hey once this is up and running i can start spending on the 90 RS Legacy again ;D

Try an air flow meter for 1 and 2.

For 3, flush the trans.

True didn't think about the air flow meter....What colour / letter should they be? (i think it has a purple C AFM)

, and planning of doing a flush and filter on the transmission shortly so might just bring that forward a couple of jobs,

Cheers bro

Don't worry about a filter. They only have a strainer in the pan, and in all the time I've been working for Wingers I've never changed one. There for life according to Subaru. You just make more work for yourself trying to clean the pan and get it to reseal.

Had this in my forester when I got it.

Waste gate was sticky and the car was boost cutting.

You can unbolt the actuator and disconnect it from the wastegate. THen see how free the thing is. Mine was stuck very slightly open and wouldn't open much. Would cause boost creep on the motorway when cruising, causing the speed to fluctuate without the gas pedal being moved. And if I dropped a gear to accelerate it would cut, like the car hitting a wall.

I assumed this was the case as well, so i used my air compressor on the lines and slowly built up pressure to see the end result, all of the actuator worked perfectly fine

I might do your trip and remove them and just check it all out again using the above method

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
