How long does a oil pump last?

Just curious as the mileage now is 295,000km. LoL

And should I do the head gasket at 300,000km when it's due for cam belt change?

Servicing really depends on how much money you wish to spend on it and the condition of the current engine. If you are happy with it then just a normal service will do.

100K service i would replace the cambelt, oil and water pump and all the seals (oil pump, cam seals as a minimum.

IF YOU WANT --> To spend even more money

If you are looking at doing your head gasket then i would suggest going all the way.. doing a full strip down, measure and put back together with new main / big end bearings and rings. Have the bore checked etc

True, engine seems to be ok still.

I had the cambelt/water pump/cam seals/tensioners etc, done at 200,000km.

Both rocker covers was done also, cant remember what mileage I had it done tho.

Will be saving up for the usual than, plus the oil pump.

And hopefully head gasket/main/big end bearings and rings before it reaches 300k.

Was just curious about head gasket, as I don't want my Legacy to crap out soon. Haha

Shes a reliable wagon, despite the high mileage. ;D

When doing the cambelt at 300000, unbolt the oil pump, clean it and replace the small o' ring in the back of it. If you service it regularly oil pump should cause any problems but that o' ring may start to leak.
