Oversized Tyre Speeco Correction

Hi all,

I got a MY04 BP Outback, lifted 3in higher than factory with slightly oversized tyres already. Factory is 215 55 17s and I want to fit as large as possible onto the factory wheels, I'm hoping for 225 70 17s or similar.

Regardless of exactly what size I end up with, I am going to have a wildly inaccurate speedo which measures too slow. Vehicle needs a cert for the lift so I will also need to get some speedo correction done.

Surely someone out there must know how to go about it? Is their something to splice into the harness somewhere to modify the signals? Any help much appreciated.

So I built a few canbus/car electronic projects… anyone got ideas for more?

Wasted a few days on tweaking the display and little else. There are limitations for the type of display in the vendor libraries I’m using with multi core cpus. Only fix is a very big rewrite of everything in a different environment..

Only new part is rolling lines fixed and if a check engine light fault is triggered a yellow banner appears at top of screen.
I’ve limited it to 16 simultaneous alerts since that both has text fits and if you hit that many alerts something is really broken.
If there is room left in the flash rom at the end I’ll add all the codes into the web config so they can be looked up without internet access.

Laser cutting was a bit disappointing. The sides aren’t square so when stacked are not smooth and even though 0.5mm makes it look and feel rough.

I need to check the key alignment and adjust but seems the 4.5mm with a thin foam or rubber sheet under it will be perfect.

The cost makes it nearly $30 per keypad for cutting and material.

Mini dash screen is working. Only downside is when wifi is running the screen has a bit of a rolling dim line. This isn’t bad as wifi is only on for setup, and only wifi password is displayed during that time.
Gets 77 frames per second so far but anything over 30 is excessive and even as low as 5 fps is fine for dash displays.

Made 3 new keypads just need to test fit the different knobs to them to see what fits with the new covers.
Every mechanical part has variations and for encoders it’s the clicks per turn and how firm those clicks are. They then vary in size a little so you need to check them.

Getting supply of a lot of chips is happening again. Lots of fab time is going to ram and AI which has had a flow on effect. Lots of smaller chips and parts are going out of stock.

Found some additional time to assemble a digital dash controller i designed earlier. Been leaving it until keypad was working and that I’m not great at soldering the tiny 40 pin connector with 0.5mm spacing.

Will reuse the link dash reader code i already have to make a preset for it.
That way the config will just be pick the brand of ecu you have and it’ll k ow what to display.
Have a few other tricks for this board.

Found a few small 20mm high 7 segment displays I had from early testing since someone already asked for a small version to build in to their cluster. Just needs a short 9 or 10 core wire to mount the main board out of the way.
