  1. Like how slow are we talking here?
  2. Complete stab in the dark but mine done the same sort of thing ages ago, turned out the brake line had come away from the strut mounting point and was rattling when shock was moving, when you got a bit of speed on it went away - took me effin ages to figure it out, give all your brake hoses a check at the struts.
  3. Yeah I assume they're the right size etc as they were a kit from Ripco, I got local mechanic to fit them in, he unofficially promotes himself as a Subby repairer so he reckons he's done heaps of them, by fitting them it got rid of the clunk on take off I was getting but seems less firm on the road so to speak, might pay to take it back to him and see what he thinks is up.
  4. All bolts are as tight as phyically possible really, I wonder if the nolathane kit are a bit of a botch up? Mine also veers around a bit on different gradients sometimes too, you can definatley see were they have been moving back and forth.
  5. I've had the front control arm bushes - the big ones at he rear replaced with Nolathane items and I am a bit concerned at the amount of front to back movement they have, they sure as hell are in there nice and tight but they still have about 3-4mm of movement, is this how they should be?
  6. Ive had a K&N pannel in my GTB for 20,000kms, my mate has had one in his for around 80,000kms and niether of us have had any problems at all, no airflow meter probs and no dust at all getting past the filter and resting in the intake pipe, both have been cleaned about every 10,000kms, and I am dam sure they make a diference in peformance!! My mates Legacy has done just on 190,000kms on the original engine - and no thats not a missprint! I think if a problem was going to arrise from using a K&N it would have by now, I plan on using a K&N pannel in all of my future cars, I cant see how they can be such a bad thing, hundreds of thousands of cars worldwide use them. My 2 cents worth on the matter.

    Gen2 vs Gen3

I have a 97 GTB and my mate has a 99 GTB and I hate to say it but its such a better car than mine all round, his is auto yet VOD is almost non existant, interior has an awesome gauge cluster and seats are more comfortable, even the doors shut nicer, the only thing I hated about it is the extremely light steering but its good around town. If I were you I'd say go for it as having spent alot of time behind the wheel of both models I know which one I'd have - 99 GTB!
  8. What about a K&N pannel filter? I put one in my Leggy and I was impressed with the gains - nothing major but you get the idea, and it all fits nicely in your original airbox.
  9. All done today, piece of piss aye, just got to it from underneath, no need to remove a single thing, I dont know what I was stressin about, cheers fellas!
  10. Mine does the same thing, has your's always done it or has it gotten worse?
  11. Do you know of someone who's done this swap before? I haven't heard of it before but would be keen to know if it can be done and what differences I could expect
  12. Hmmm not that I'm awear of, came out on the B4 shape legacy's.
  13. Hmmm if thats the codes it's comming up with take it to your nearest Subaru authorised workshop I'd say as from what I've heard that code is not a good one to have, good luck!
  14. Go for a VF31 primary - straight bolt on and quite a nice turbo too really, very usable power range and an easy to dirve with turbo, well thats from my experience anyway.
  15. My mates got a BH Legacy and we looked into that as I have the BG model and nope! they actually have a completely different rear strut set up and as for the front not a huge amount of differnece but by the looks it wouldnt work, you could give the fronts a go but definately not the rear - I would'nt be too hopefull though.
  16. Talked to Mr mechanic man today and he said that in order to remove the air pockets the coolant system needs to be "vacuumed" out, obviously not with your vax though - a special piece of equipment, the reason the air is in there in the first place might be from buggerd head gasket or waterpump or perhaps its just there because it is lol, thats answered my questions, i hope it answers some of you other guys questions too.
  17. the one we have at work is fairly expensive, its a proper one that hooks into the air compressor and it uses that to suck the fluid through. bit different to those cheaper ones. Whereabouts do you work mate? and whats the average charge to do a fluid fush?
  18. Powerbuilt make one for like $30 aye, and yeah i see how I get on, not too keen on the idea of intercooler comming off to be honest - pussy and impatient? yes I am lol
  19. Haha nice!, have you got any tips on how to get the bubbles out?
  20. Hey just trying to find some answers for my workmate, he's got a 96 Legacy and he reckons he can hear water moving around behind the dash - all the time! there's no leaks or nothing car doesnt overheat and heater still works fine, my first thought would have been the heater core, anyone got any ideas for me?
  21. Hmmm might go buy one of those suction things then perhaps, might be the best bet, cheers guys!
  22. Ok so I've sussed out that I need to bleed my clutch in the legacy but I dont really want to have to remove the intercooler to do it, anyone got any tip or ideas on how to get this done - the easy way! Or am I going to have to remove the intercooler, I've had a quick look round there but should be able to get in there to the slave cylinder - just lol
  23. At least it's a 5 speed auto though, and I think I'm right when I say that this is the first auto sti subby have made so we can only hope for more advances in the trans department with it. In Subaru's defense whats the point in spending a whole heap of time and money developing a specific tranny for this sti when the auto option might become a flop anyway (we can only hope!), the way I see it is they're just testing the waters so to speak and come on there must be some kind of demand out there for an auto option or they wouldn't have done it - am I right? I personally think it's quite nice jumping into an auto after changing gears 300 times in my car just to get to the shop so I think auto's have there place but cant say I'll be putting the auto sti on my Xmas wish list lol.
  24. Notice any diference in changing to the alloy arms?
