  1. Quick question, is it normal for the new Subaru gasket to not sit in those 2 little grooves in the pic above? Just did my rocker cover gasket today and it's exactly like the one in your pic, is it the wrong gasket or is that normal
  2. Put a can of upper engine cleaner through it, finally got round to replacing my leaky rocker cover gasket. Managed to get 5 of the bolts out within 10 mins, then came across this: The 6th bolt was rounded, such a cunt to loosen too as it was right in the bottom right corner. Ended up using a vice. took more than 45 mins to get it off. Now I've got to wait till Monday to get a new bolt from winger(unless someone has a spare one I can buy tonight or tomorrow) then put it back together and chuck some new oil in. What a pain
  3. Yeah thought so. Just picked up some fully synthetic 10w40 Motul oil today
  4. I found them to be really decent performance wise, but were very firm. Had a set in one of my old cars.
  5. Seems excessive to me, I just got 175kms from $40 in my v4 STi. Only mods are a hks intake and bov.
  6. Yeah I never really believed in these things but like I said, was already installed in the car when I got it, car is getting good mileage. Got nothing to complain about
  7. It's excellent, I expected a much higher fuel bill. Filled up $40 from the fuel light, got 170kms before it came on again. Around 150k's was city driving, 20 on the motorway. Previous owner said he noticed a decent power increase too but i didn't drive the car before he put it in so can't comment on that.
  8. http://www.fuelstar.co.nz/ Was installed in the car when I got it so can't complain. Previous owner paid $500 for it, hope its doing something
  9. Fully agree, I daily my STi aswell. Upgraded from a 94 civic sir to a 97 v4 sti. It's been a perfect daily, way better on gas than I expected too. Currently getting approximately 160-175 kms from $40 of 98. Has one of those fuelstar units in it so I guess that helps with the economy.
  10. That really sucks man..will keep an eye out today. Was it taken from the street or driveway? So sick of these thieves.
  11. good man was going to sat dont do it! i diagnosed a beb today I'm starting to get a little worried now..beb seems to be so common as someone on here once said " its a feature not a flaw " hahaha I didn't click when I was looking for an STi, saw that almost all of them had been rebuilt at some stage. Now I know why. Just hope it doesn't happen to me. Really gonna look after this motor.

  13. Shit that sucks. Did it happen after a good thrash or just driving normally?
  14. Finally got round to changing all the brake pads. Feels so much better now. Just need to source some superlow springs for the rear and I'll be able to put the kyb inverted struts in. Can't wait
  15. You will be suprised at how real those imitations look these days. That site has to be accurate, its HKS themselves
  16. I highly doubt they're genuine at those prices..probably a very accurate immitation
  17. You legend! I'll be doing mine next week.really Appreciate it
  18. Cleaned the boost solenoid, changed brake pads and fitted a new headunit. Getting more familiar with my car everyday, loving it.
  19. Hey guys, am about to do an oil change on my v4 sti. It's done 160 000k's and is completely standard. Previous owner told me he's been using Penrite 10w60. i normally use castrol magnatec 10w40 or motul 10w40 in most of my previous cars with similar k's. What would you recommend? Stick with the 10w60 or change to something like Castrol magnatec 10w40? Cheers
