  1. I'm replacing a flywheel on a legacy in the near future, and since I hate taking off subaru gearboxes with a passion figure I'll change the clutch disk while it's all off Is this a good idea, it's like $200 landed http://www.ebay.com/itm/QSC-Stage-3-Clutch-Disc-Subaru-02-05-Impreza-WRX-2-0L-AWD-TURBO-5-SPEED-EJ205-/282045490325?hash=item41ab38a495:g:5KAAAOSwGotWq932&vxp=mtr I like the feel of a super bitey clutch as it makes me feel like dom toretto errday and I do plan on leaning on the car down the track
  2. Bought another one I promised me I wouldn't but... $1500 is a an argument I can't refuse for a manual 01 gtb This one gets single churbroed
  3. I'll chuck the rest up if someone can point me in the direction of a hosting site which won't a) self delete and b) won't make me sign up? I've got a tune for "parallel" which basically equates to something you can load on as a pretty good starting point for a single turbo setup too Oh and a couple more def files... tbh it's like looking over my old polytech notes or trying to play an old vidya game - I know that at one stage I was obsessing over understanding it, now I look at it and it's like another language
  4. This might be useful and I figured best to get it online before I go and accidentally wipe it https://ufile.io/9547e <-- ECU definition for ECUflash. I've forgotten the ins and outs of it, but you need to replace what it tries to open the legacy stock rom with, with this https://ufile.io/caf54 <-- The last tune I loaded onto my wagon, some emphasis on off-throttle pops and bangs with this one. It's pretty aggressive and my car had FMIC, 2.5" downpipes and silicone intake pipe - your mileage may vary as those things do make a marked difference to how much it wants to grenade. That said - it still runs less timing on boost than the stock rom does https://ufile.io/90b75 <-- A pretty safe tune for 95% of the cars out there, loading this on will result in the VOD being effectively gone, ping gone on gull or BP 98, and vastly improved mileage. I think it's pretty safe on 95 as well from memory but please see above I've got a dozen other variations if anyone wants them, still have stock flashes off auto and manual GTB's and I think I have an S204 (202? whatever the sti B4 is) rom renamed something stupid which was not really any great improvement other than more revs and boost bro I sold reflashed ECU's to a few in various states of modification who all came back with glowing feedback, it is a legit "best bang for the buck" thing you can do to these cars Also I'm not dead, this is just the first time I've been on my car-S*** laptop for several months (ha) - currently driving a POS cedia turbo while saving for something worthwhile
  5. Just go find a POS V7/8 shape non-WRX impreza for 2k and transplant it all into that, sell the B4, errbody wins Well that's what I'd do in this situation
  6. Buy tactrix cable: see data and also be able to do something productive with it
  7. V5/6 legacy, forester and impreza share the same electrical basics - same AFM, idle control etc Repinning a rev a/b/c B4 to WRX spec is pretty straightforward (like, very) and you just need to do the simple hardware swap Hell you can do the ecu bit, then do the mechanicals later and run it as a simultaneous twin Or you can do the mechanicals, and con the TT computer into thinking it's still a TT and run it single. If you are going to the trouble of paying someone to fit a V7 motor to an old legacy, for what they're worth these days it'd be cheaper and more effective to simply buy the STi in the first place - a single converted legacy is still not worth any more $$ to a bone stock one really
  8. Convert to V5/6 and you're away pretty painlessly though? Easy way and a hard way to do things
  9. Real common to do in lancers too To be fair it seems weird your car is having such issues, when every other subaru with a FMIC you never really hear about it (at least, not to the point of it being a problem worth solving)
  10. Prize to the man in the hat (I'm assuming you occasionally wear a hat) Little Gen-2 Asti RX (or something?) mivec coupe, always wanted one to make doort noises with
  11. Sold the wagon Bought a runabout - all $1800, 130kw and 950kg of it, haha. Maximum gokart spec boobaa action, have many pipe dreams for track hack antics Even has no sound deadening and pimp recaros And looks like I borrowed it from the mum in law (no, really)
  12. I advise removing it altogether
  13. Yeah but who cares when you have woooooshzututu
  14. Or just save a bit and buy new so you get some form of warranty It's not like the car can't drive right now, and since you're paying for the install why not do it once, do it right It's like paying someone to install a used cambelt
  15. Mount at one end or the other of the thing is giving up maybe? Being undone then put back together probs killed whatever it was
  16. It sounds like it maybe just needs a bleed? Boost has nothing to do with slip, just watch the RPM and I dunno, keep your nose open haha If you can't make it slip on the road, then it won't slip on the dyno either. It's not some horrific super high load event, if the car can be driven now then you don't need to swap it out as a preventative measure If you really want to be sure (or just want to make sure it's dead) just be a bit cruel to it and see what happens, a couple of kicks will tell you if it's happy to hold on or not
  17. Don't even consider the smaller engined ones, you get no gain in economy and lose what power the 3l does have No difference going to an outback (why would it?) Maybe look at a different car for a commute? End of the day a 3L legacy is not really any different to a maxima/skyline/camry etc with a big V6
  18. Ordered friday from california Showed up this morning Win
  19. Or Or do it yourself and just chuck in a new disk Cost = sweet F-A Time = a weekend Worth asking BNT directly what price they'll give, half the aftermarket parts places just buy in from there and onsell anyway
  20. Nah just a dude on TM To be fair they all come out of the same slave labour factory in super happy heatsink province of shanghai
  21. Downsized the intercoolerer from 600x300 to like 580x180 Half the core on mine is hidden by bumper anyway, plus now I can fit the crash bar above it for maximum legality oh yeah Still like 5x the size of stock Win win
