  1. When i brought my car the a/c wasnt working, dont know for how long it was out but would have been awhile because all the seals to the pump were leaking. Just replaced the seals then vacuumed it to get all the crap out for 1/2 an hour then re-gassed been good for the last 3 months.
  2. Trademe, find someone wrecking a car or selling a pump, u\'ll get one fairly cheap i would imagine and then just install yourself. Its not very hard at all just a belt and a few bolts and two pipes. Im assuming because you got the re-gas voucher that the system has no gas already so that parts already done. Make sure to use new (R-134a approved) sealing o-rings on the pipe connections so they don\'t leak and away you go. *WEAR GLOVES WHEN REMOVING OLD COMPRESSOR* just incase of any residual pressure.
  3. If your talking about the high-pitched squeak sorta sound. Mine seems to make it to, more so when cold so i\'m leaning towards a belt too...
  4. YUSS! Now everyone make sure you buy petrol from there so they keep it on hand haha
  5. haha yeah your probably right, will set one up if no one comes through here
  6. someone/ anyone have a manual or wiring diagram for a Kavass car alarm? Mine keeps going off and i dont know how to make it stop haha have tried everything.
  7. Bugger.... Maybe an STI coupe like the one at NY motor show...
  8. True.... But i don\'t think many thieves carry around hacksaws. Well the one that tried to take my car didn\'t luckily. They would have to be targeting your car and know exactly what they need before hand I would think.
  9. Feel for you mate.... :-\ Best you can do is learn from the situation and invest in a steering wheel lock, saved my old WRX when F*cktards tried to nick it. Cant drive with no steering wheel.
  10. Sweet, had my old car aa checked before it was sold they were pretty good picked up on somethings i didnt know about , but alarmingly missed other things that i was more worried about...
  11. Mine has the Coils on the sparkplugs, so it was the wiring harness to the coil connector that had the break in it (actually had the exsact same problem on my old GTB which was the exsact same thing, a broken connector on the same cylinder 3 coil pack : ) You have a coil on top of the engine so it may be a faulty coil or HT lead. You can test your HT leads resistance with a multimeter and your coil with a spark tester.
  12. Had this problem with my 01 WRX was a broken plug on one of the coil packs causing a slight misfire, was a easy fix once found. Make sure you don\'t have a faulty coil, plug to coil or spark plug wire.
  13. +1 Id put it on for 5,5-6 let someone work you down. Youll be surprised how much more ull get with a good wash and some nice pics
  14. Is the ECU putting out any codes? could be many things but irregular idle is usually AFM, or air leak related. Rusty water is common enough. Just a build up of scale in the cooling system from lack of servicing. If you want to get rid of most of it, Drain the cooling system, Take off the thermostat housing at the bottom of the engine as well as the top and bottom rad hose. Put your garden hose in the top tank and run it until the water coming out the bottom is clear then do the same with the rad. Put it all back together and refill with fresh coolant. Should flush most of it out, you would have loosened it with your previous flush.
  15. Ive got the same thing a 20k hatch, as far as im aware its just a JDM badging thing. The 20N (naturally-aspirated) is the non turbo hatch and the 20K (kompressor[german]) is the turbo one. Kinda matches up with the RSK B4 of the same era, the K for kompressor thing (like mercedes ;D)
  16. Is this a favourable response? Not exactly an oil expert 10w-40 is the correct weight, i don\'t know how good HKS oil is but they are pretty well known and you do pay a premium for it so i would say its pretty good. To me it looks pretty good TBH but i wouldn\'t pay that price maybe around 18-19 mark. But then i never pay what cars actually worth.
  17. From the auction: "sorry no test drive unless u r having the proof of fund" Sorry i shouldn\'t laugh...
  18. First off, well done for saving haha i dont think i could manage that lol I wouldnt worry to much about the servicing, as long as he has used quality engine oil of the right grade (ie: not red stamp 20w-50) and filters at the right intervals it should be fine. A 100k service (at the dealer) consists of -Cambelt and water pump with all tensioners etc. -Coolant -Engine oil and Filter -Gearbox and diff oil -Air filter -Sparkplugs (model dependent but a safe bet they\'ll need doing) -Cabin pollen filter -Random other stuff like tyre rotations etc. All up your probably looking at $1500ish (as a very approximate guess will be different were ever you go) and of course probably close to double that at the dealer haha
  19. Sounds very much like a Lazy O2 sensor to me, Like a mild hesitation while cruising at a constant speed? its not violent but noticeable. and when you accelerate in the same gear it doesn\'t pick up strait away like it should? The o2 Sensor will get stuck at a constant voltage, within specs so it wont throw a code, but the ECU will read it as incorrect for the engine conditions and pull timing or dump in more fuel etc.
  20. Its all about previous owners, If hes treated it like a bag of sh*t then the car will most likely be a bag of sh#t. Service history is everything, as well as gauging how much the previous owner loved the car. Things wear out a lot faster on cold start WOT... Another reason i will never buy from a car yard.. Thats my 2c anyway...
  21. Make sure you get it diagnosed as a head gasket properly before jumping in head first with your wallet out only to find its a faulty ignition coil. Most garages will (or should) do a Tekay test and pressure test the cooling system first especially if they think there going to get a head gasket job out of it... Rocker covers are easy, just need small hands and a 10mm ratchet spanner will make the job a lot less painless. [quote name='MoJoe-95Legacy said: ...also my exhaust manifold or i thinks it the cover. it rattles really loud when i get to a certain rev, i see it going side to side an its embarrassing. how do i stop that? i tried tightening the bolts but that didnt work... If its not protecting anything important pull it off ;D
  22. +1 White smoke is coolant or brake fluid being sucked in... if it was flooded it would be black smoke. Sounds like blown head gasket to me sorry mate... Do compression test or pressure test cooling system.
  23. Looks like Subarus design department might have finally sobered up... Almost mustangish from the front with the big bonnet bulge.
  24. Another dumb question... Hoping to finally put my catless downpipe on my 01 Wrx hatch this week. Will this possibly throw a CEL for Cat inefficiency? (or is that just an american thing) Only a catless down pipe rest of exhaust will remain stock...
