Yes, it is.
Normally between 120-150k they let go. Bad piston rings, blowby carbon build up floats the bigends.
Like, 500km post oil change, the oil is almost diesel black.
Mine let go at 110 k
Have you got research on hand on this? Doesnt make heaps of sense would like to know more.

I thought the v7 sti map was one of the better base maps as they had a company car or something they spent a fair bit of time testing with.

Well if you're spending all that $$ anyway, may as well spend an extra $300 and get a fancy flywheel. They are a tiny bit S*** to drive in stop-go traffic as it's easier to bog the car and stall, but when you rev-match a downshift with a light flywheel it's quite a beautiful thing.
I had a light one circa 4kg ish and loathed it as a daily. Couldnt see any merit to it tbh. Hated the way it died on casual downshift and coming to a stop.

Need to have a red reflector visible on the rear iirc.

Mine got a WOF with tail lights in pic above. I imagine they would fail WOF if it was illegal right?
As @McMatty said doesnt mean you will fail a wof. Just means if you get pulled up by a cop who wants to make a point you won't be driving home as it could be deemed unsafe.

Worth noting tinting tail lights is illegal.

And don't lift up rear of bonnet as its a high pressure zone actually feeding air into the engine bay. Could turn scoop around?
Testing in the UK backs this up. Lifting the bonnet is a bad idea.

A good one, Royal something 5w30 I think. Ajay put it in after all the running in / dyno was done.
Go to a #w40 PAO next time round as you're beating on it.

Yeah have seen quite a few others do this. Would definitely need an oil cooler if I disconnect the water feed right?
Possibly. Will only know once you have logged temps. What oil are you using?

Being a td05 you can delete the turbo cooling. Just bypass or I blocked mine with appropriate bolt and copper washer. Deleted the top side when I switched to custom header tank.

Would have to wonder if the owner wasnt too concerned if it got stolen...

@RaKid I reckon your mum would've told you to go make your room messy as a kid. Love how clean and fresh you get everything you work on.

Way to big. Mine is in a subaru box a third of the size
My guess is a carbon boot lid
Says Subaru all over it too. Looks deceptive as it doesn't look like a 1160x1160mm export pallet.

V7 sti shortblock?

Pretty straight forward just follow your nose and make sure you keep track of how youre pulling it apart. Half the case will come off leaving the gearsets etc in the other. Think the drivers side is the side that lifts off.
When splitting the cases hit a solid spot on the rim with a rubber mallet rather than smashing a screwdriver between the faces. When reselling use a thin smear of silicon so it doesn't squeeze any excess into the box.

Well, it was at a bloody good price, but yeah I'm trying to get my head around how the link software works. Interesting times ahead
Heaps easier than what you're used too. Editing on the fly will be a refreshing change.

Bit the bullet, joined the dark side. As much as it pains me to do so, I bought a link. However, in terms of the upcoming build, I think it was the smartest option.
Heck that wouldve been tough to swallow...😜

Cant be too hard to fit a x9 in there with the amount of guys running 9-9.5 on the gdb chassis.

Give @Subirex Automotive a call or pop in and see him.

@TNHSTI it's quite common to tune first. You can gain a lot of fuel efficiency and performance over the generic stock tune without any mods.
@west_minist charges very reasonable rates for a remote tune. Not sure how the re-tune once modified would work in terms of cost.
Would be interesting to know. The only point in tuning first is to quantify gains which only matter if you need to justify $ spent to yourself or you are compensating for something 😉

A 3/8 ratchet with short extension and elbow with a deep socket is my preferred method.
