  1. From the VIRM: Reasons for rejection: "4. The exhaust system is so constructed or modified that its operation or effectiveness can be readily interfered with, eg the driver is able to interfere with the exhaust system by operating a manual switch, or the exhaust is fitted with a flame thrower kit."
  2. Lots! Replaced a torn guard liner Changed from winter to summer wheels & tyres Removed old IACV, you can't see it but theres a crack in the inner workings causing intermittent idle fluctuations. Cleaned the replacement and manifold with upper cylinder clean, and re installed(with the O ring). Aaaand replaced a cam position sensor
  3. What he said. Pretty sure they're a generic brembo caliper that manufactures buy and sticker. The brakes you have look very similar to this set of AMG brakes
  4. Surely he'll see this anyway, but his is pre-facelift 6 speed. Dacerx had a pre-facelift which he got reflashed and the TCM reflashed too
  5. Fixed the play in the wiper linkage, the plastic bush was no more. Tried swapping a good plastic bush in its place but that didn't work. So swapped in a replacement arm from pick-a-part, $5. Also conditioned the windscreen cowel with plastic conditioner and painted the wiper arms blaaaaaaack.
  6. Sounds similar to primary turbo failure possibly?
  7. Check the end fittings on them, some are/aren't allowed. I can't recall the difference sorry, but we had a car go through cert and he had to get a new set with the correct fittings...
  8. Presume you've got brembos too? Is it worth finding another set of 17's for winter?
  9. What do you need them for? Snow Socks (http://www.autosock.com/en/) are good for any sealed roads but ski feel roads, I.e. gravel roads will tear them to pieces. But, when you look at them, they won't cause any damage to your wheels or tyres.
  10. To answer the clock question, I'm 99% sure they hook into satellites and potentially base it to Japan time, hence you can't adjust it. On all the ones we looked at and tried to adjust, they were only out on the hours, the minutes were fine.
  11. I was told by a port worker that 91 is used basically as a slosh tank, so if there's any small leftovers of any fuel, old stuff, even bits of diesel it would get chucked in the 91 tanks with the thoughts it would dilute itself out... Not sure how I'd feel with that being mixed with 98...
  12. I had MY02's for a set, they were fine for a tyre really, nothing amazing and nothing terrible. Grip was good overall but would break traction if really pushed (non turbo Legacy here haha). Now running RE002's and they're awesome. Can't complain, and got them at a stellar price too.
  13. Found this out in the weekend while filling up in Cromwell, they have a 24 hour pump out the back with 98 and I was told that hopefully by the end of the month they'll have it at all pumps in the forecourt.
  14. Best to go to Partmaster for a BH/BE, no one else can match one up aftermarket, and genuine is about $90 trade... Thee one I got from Partmaster was $21 to put it in perspective
  15. Here's the guy who did the diesel Pikes Peak 22B replica etc http://www.boxeer.com/ https://www.facebook.com/subarudiesel
  16. This is from the factory service manual Also, if you look at any modern cars that run DRL's, only the DRL lights will come on at the front. No interior or rear facing lights. Also, as a NZTA requirement for DRL's, they need to dim or turn off when the normal headlights or foglights are operating. http://vehicleinspection.nzta.govt.nz/virms/in-service-wof-and-cof/general/lighting/daytime-running-lamps
  17. From B4 I was 250T's original question, I'm assuming he's asking about the little spotlight like lights at the bottom of the bumper?
  18. Nope, is illegal to retrofit any non-hid lamp with and HID unfortunately, different beam pattern etc. I had LED's in mine for a while, output is terrible, but if you used them as DRL's they served their purpose. However I would think the lower lamps are more aimed at driving lamps or fog lamps... If they were DRL's they wouldn't bring on all the interior illumination, cluster backlight, number plate lights etc on with it
  19. Anyone following the latest offerings? I'm having trouble finding a good source to watch this new season... Cheers
  20. Off the top of my head, I believe the vehicle criteria is that is has to be one of less than 20,000 made, however they only grant 200 special vehicle permits per calendar year
  21. Could well be taped up too, it'll be pretty clear once you see an unplugged white plug, of the same size as your clock plug. Can't really give a definitive location, specially if someones been behind it fitting an aftermarket unit already sorry. I know what a maze the wiring is back there with the jap units too :\
  22. Yeah, my understanding too. I can't understand any physical differences between a CBA BPE compared to a TA BPE 3.0, however the facelift BP Turbo's came with a secondary air pump, again for emissions.
  23. Am interested also. That specific legacy won't get compliance or reg due to the chassis code being a TA-BP5. To be imported to NZ, it needs 3 characters before the BP(5/E) Such as: http://www.beforward.jp/subaru/legacy-b4/bf330539/id/434699/?mfg_year_from=2004 Note the CBA (3 characters) in front of BPE As for importing agents or who manages the transaction, purchase and shipping for a private import I'm not sure. Most common compliance faults are brake pads and/or rotors, tyres and control arm bushes, tyres in some cases too. It helps to budget at least some of these in to your price. Also any noted structural damage will require a repair certification which bumps the price up even more, but you won't really know unless you get a reliable report on the car before purchasing.
