  1. My bonnet is rattling from the drivers side hinge. (developed after the bonnet was recently off to be painted). It makes the noise when closed, either by the air flow getting under it, or manually if I wiggle the bonnet corner. But no noise when raised on the bonnet stand. I tightened one off the bolts which seemed to have a bit of play in, heard a loud crack. Removed the bolt and it was almost cracked in half. It was possibily mistreaded to start with. I replaced the bolt with a new one, tightened as much as I dare, but the bonnet still rattles. Any idea how to eliminate the rattle?
  2. The mechanic recently had my gearbox out and now my reverse lights wont come on when in reverse. If I move the gear stick .5cm up (while reverse is still engaged) the reverse lights work, though i physically have to hold it there. Will likely fail its next wof. Where should I be looking to fix this? Is there a switch under the gear boot, or is it internal in the box?
  3. My experiences; Arlingtons near the Basin Reserve does good quality paint and repair work - but pricey. Only fault is they aren't great at putting the parts back on the car correctly. Autoflowe - much cheaper. But some of the paint work was average. So depends on your budget or the quality you're after.
  4. not worth the effort modifying it for a gc8.
  5. took the door cards out of the front and scrubbed the f out of the grubby cloth section. used upholstery cleaner, stain remover, washing powder and water but it came up minters. rear cards next week.
  6. ahh .. just did this in the Hutt for $130. Still, well worth it for a 'cant bet Wgtn on a gd day' day.
  7. Finally used the plasti-dip i bought 18mths ago on the rear plastic window surrounds of the GC8. Came out minters. Why didn't i do it earlier.
  8. Rigtho. The next installment. A little lame, but hopefully easy enough to keep this game rolling along.
  9. ok, there, I did it, nasty little alley. Will upload a new location on the wknd ..
  10. Could belong in the dumb question thread, but ... Where is the factory intercooler water reservoir bottle normally located on a gc8 v4/5/6? Considering this mod. I'd like to get the factory part, but have only seen one oem bottle on ebay, and nothing on trademe. Do most people just convert the rear windscreen pump from the main reservoir to spray on the intercooler?? I'd also also like the factory "i/c water spray button" ... where can i find one of these gems??? Cheers
  11. Good to hear you got it back, despite the missing parts. Are the cops on to tracking down the scum responsible, or they don't give a dam?
  12. Google image search H0017FC9000E oem part
  13. not my car, stock image off the net, and some paint skillz - but hopefully explains it. the green lines are the frame, and you can see the mount doesn't sit square. the main issue however is the yellow circle, where the other bolt is and the fuel pipe thats directly below it. The factory mount was difficult enough to undo. The whiteline mount design makes it impossible to get a spanner + chubby fingers in above the pipe. (the car has to be on the ground to install)
  14. Has anyone had experience fitting Whiteline's rear sway bar heavy duty mounts (KBR21-22) on a GC8. I found the right hand mount impossible to fit as the fuel pipe (to the fuel tank) gets in the way. I'm sure this can be moved/removed with a bit more effort, but what a pain. When I test fitted the left hand mount, there were problems lining up the bracket (that holds the bushing and sway bar) to the mount. Ie - it didn't line up perpendicular with the bar, and the bracket would probably require bending to make it fit. Supposedly they are L and R mounts and must face 'forward'. But even the alignment of the mounts to the frame don't sit flush. Really untidy looking. In the end, I had to put the factory mounts back on.
  15. The reply i got from Whiteline (actually RedRanger - so BriteLites is correct) said they are moving to black bushings. Though my bushings don't look half as sexy as their promo pics. http://www.whitelineus.com/fadetoblack/ No reply regarding the serial number etching tho. ... but yes, slightly paranoid still.
  16. Hi team, Firstly, I have emailed Whiteline to check with them, but thought I'd also check with the mod-guru's on Club Sub and get your opinion. I ordered Whiteline rear endlinks from BNT last week, who had it shipped up from another office. Was told it was the 'last one in the country' (of their stock I guess), and it arrived the following day, sweet. The BNT guy quickly pulled it out of the packet when I went to pay for it. No dramas, I wasn't overly fussed in inspecting them at the time. BNT were friendly folk and gave good service. Got it home, but it wasn't quite what I was expecting. The bushings are black. I was expecting typical Whiteline yellow as per their website pics (though I see they do some black bushings on other products). These black bushings seem a little 'average' in quality too. The endlink themselves have serial numbers etched into them. From all the pics I see online no other Whiteline rear endlinks seem to have numbers stamped on them. All a little sus, and got me thinking. Then I remember the package was already open too (neatly above the resealable zip-lock). It wasn't completely sealed (ie new) and had previously been opened. Could have been BNT guys to check it when it arrived for the right product or possibly a 'returned product' earlier. Attached is what I receive (minus instructions not in photo), and a pic from the Whiteline website. I've google the numbers etched into the links but didn't find anything. My ultmate concern is they are knock-off items (that someone else swapped out and returned for the original), possibly the quality could be circumspect, and the fact I paid for a genuine product which it might not be. Like I said at the start of post, I have emailed Whiteline but I'm still waiting their response. Any ideas from the community? Cheers
  17. I've been looking at raijin website, and investigating the other suggested mods for the last week. Keen to hear the results.
