maybe you didn't sand back enough? looking at your second pic it looks like it only happens on the yellowed area... but you did start with 400... so i'd think you would have taken enough off.... i'm really only guessing at this point. Bound to be someone on here who knows more than I do...
Is it under the clear coat? or on top of?
I'm no painter, but it looks like you might have layered the clear on too thick? start with a light dusting and build up. The duplicolor stuff I had said to wait no more than 10mins between coats - how long between yours?
Picked up a bh5 genome exhaust and replaced the be5 genome I have on the car (the bh needs a longer tip) i now have an 'outboard' exhaust instead of an 'inboard'. Now to pressure @HKM400 to get another Subaru so he can buy my old exhaust
Problem solved. Took it into crowes and spoke with one of the guys their and he reckoned it was the gaskets where the pipes under the IC mount to the IC. So took it
off, removed the gaskets and remade with gasket maker, thought I should check the bov at the same time.... lo and behold the bov gasket was F***ed.
Now getting more vacuum, and higher boost. Was only boosting to (just under) 1bar (14psi) now pushing closer to 1.2 bar (17psi). Happy that it was a $14 fix rather than a new turbo....
that's what i'm hoping, gonna swing by the mechanics in the morning, show them the audio. Will also grab a spray bottle. My worry about spraying with water is what is the danger of spraying a leak that's vacuum at idle? don't want to make things worse for myself (probably worrying about nothing... but hey)
Haha, i wish! easy fix i reckon it sounds more like this
Yea, WOT, that was pull from 2nd into 3rd. You can just hear the turbos change over (in 2nd) then the noise seems to come on in the top end of the secondary turbo. No apparent loss of power, pulled hard through the whole thing. Didn't think to check boost pressure at the time, but my pants dyno didn't register any difference
Hey all
Noticed today that when boosting in the high rev ranges (on secondary) getting a high pitched noise coming from somewhere.... Only started noticing it today, went on a high spirited drive last weekend and didn't notice it at all.
I got a recording of it which you can find here.... https://my.pcloud.com/publink/show?code=XZIk5X7ZP5XJu2EPyW56ufrghKXBLpnmOaNy
Anyone got an idea of what it might be?
hmmm, after ringing a few place here in chch it seems that armstrongs deal is still pretty high
M45 - $1250 (incl gst)
Stubaru - $1100-$1200 (incl gst)
Crowes - $1095 (incl gst)
all are genuine parts, incl waterpump/idler/tensioner
Hi all
Armstrongs CHCH is currently having a school holiday special where a cambelt replacement is discounted (20% parts, 10% labour). My BH5 is about to tick over to 180km (still got 10km until really need to think about it), I got a quote from them for the replacement and it came to ~$1350...
Labour $545 INCL GST
Cam seals $64 INCL GST
Cambelt kit $434 INCL GST
Waterpump kit $113 INCL GST
Coolant $79 INCL GST
Oil pump o-ring $4 INCL GST
Parts total incl GST $798
Is it worth jumping on this deal? I'll ring up a few other places to get a quote to compare to as well
Ended up buying them, near new re003s on them too. Handle so much better than my old tyres, way less road noise and 45 profile so my speedo reads (more) accurate!!
