  1. I love diesel road user charges, don't you?
  2. I did pop it back in place, and bolted it back on. But the bar was sitting on a very bad angle as a result, it jut pops right back out.
  3. Nice, but japan beat you to it. It's very affordable to own a kei car over there, they tax larger and more powerful vehicles. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kei_car
  4. What either turbo is doing is totally irrelevant to you. As Qwerty said, the manifold pressure is the important one you want to keep a track of. You also want to run a boost gauge with the car stock for a while too, so you get to know what boost the car makes normally. Then when you chuck some mods in, you can tell if you've changed how it's boosting.
  5. Gotta learn how to drive with no power first. Eion here evidently has some more to do, like all of us did.
  6. Well the holes are too big for the nuts, it wouldn't be bolted on any more if i did that. Would have to use washers on all of them.
  7. SUV permit, now there's an idea! Should cost $1000 to get one too.
  8. Yup, don't even thing about modifying the car without a boost gauge.
  9. Here's some unbiased presentation.
  10. Took mine to the panel beaters. Quoted $212 to fix my sills (they are folded in) and flatten the mount on the spare wheel well to be bale to fit an impreza say bar. Damn. Also revomed the strut brace, wondering how to fix this: It's the mount for my carbon fibre STi strut brace, damn thing popped off when i took the broken strut out. The guy at the panel beaters just reckoned i should whack it with a hammer, and peen it back on there.
  11. Boost taps on a tt. lol. Good luck with that mate, you'll need it! ODB's right, start with the exhaust.
  12. Yeah i'd love a pic. And hailz, that doesn't sound right... Admitedly i've not driven a car with one myself, but i know plenty who have, and that's not what i've heard. Are your rear bisteins rooted? And why would i want anything bigger? To stop body roll maybe?
  13. That.... is something else. Damn.
  14. Just a little thread to try find the differences in rear bars. BD/BG vs GC/GF compatibility, what i do know: For a long time i knew you could fit leggy bars on impreza's, but not vice versa. Well, Several months ago i found why. Suspension wise, it's all much the same back there, and impreza bars in theory should bolt up just fine, same dimensions and mounts and everything. However, subaru decided the legacy needed a tow bar mount welded to the underside of the spare wheel well, or at least that's what i think it is. At any rate, it sits smack bang where the impreza bar would. So, as a result, all BD/BG bars are bent in the middle, to go around this mount, but impreza bars are dead straight. So, knowing the problem, many have got around this, by simply removing the mount (angle grinder jobbie, i'm getting a panel beater to do mine.) - ta-da, you now can run massive aftermarket impreza rear bars. que pictures from FWA's mods: What i don't know: Are BC/BF bars bent like the BD/BG's? or straight like the impreza? ~ Next up, BE/BH bars, what i do know: Since the gen 3's went multi link, their bar changed. They are similar, and at first glance i couldn't tell them apart. But compared, i think the little attaching arms or whatever are much shorter/different shape, so won't work on any other subie, also means they can't chuck in impreza bars. What i don't know: Exactly how they do indeed differ, and if there is a way to deal with this, to be able to install impreza bars? ~ And lastly, GDB bars. Don't know jack about these suckers, how are they different to the early BG/GC bars, and why can't they fit? Hopefully i'll edit this post as more comes to light.
  15. Rebuild it, forget second hand engines, especially considering you're dealing with an STi. I can't say enough good things about PBMS btw, they were excelent to deal with, and my engine is still going strong under my rule 30,000k's later.
  16. I get loud pops on gear change on occasion, sometimes it's more of a whooomph... ;D On a serious note, i did have a gear change knock months ago (thought it was coming from the middle or front of the car). In the end it was an ever predictable engine mount. Just irrelevant, though on topic info.
  17. tint's on factory tints!? lol!? Why would you do that, factory tints are already illegally dark to start with (At least for GTB's it is).
  18. I've seen, and been in several BC GT's btw, all auto's etc.
  19. So, i just decided, 2.75 turns is too much. Who's selling a Ver 9 or spec C rack? I will be requiring the universal joint and subframe. Anyway, i've had my V3 sti rack in the car for ages now. I fricken love it. The biggest and nicest difference was actually the feeling, having less power assist just makes the car feel so much nicer, and goes perfectly with the STi short shifter. Losing that .25 of a turn was also enough to make me happy. I still want less turns, but for now the standard STi rack is suiting me VERY nicely, i'm very glad i went ahead and did it.
  20. Nice, that certainly looks like an RS to me. Would they be using VF8's, or since they are NZ/AU new, VF12's or whatever it is we got? At any rate, still no Gen 2 RS wagons, of that i am sure. And yeah, the GT's and Impreza RS's in the states are 'hood'scooped 2.5 N/A's. First WRX was the bug eye, in 2002, first STi was a 2.5L Ver. 8 in 2004. They didn't get any 3rd gen legacy turbo's, but, the baja, which was based off the BH chassis got an EJ255 turbo engine in the later years, i've seen a few people over there use baja's for turbo swapping their BE/BH's
  21. I see, odd. Reminds me or the US having GT everything. GT BD, GT BE, GT BL. No B4's, no RS's. Though their 2.5L Impreza's are called RS's.
  22. BG5A 93-96 Was all EJ20H, and all simple GT. This was the old style EJ20H, much in common with EJ20G's. I do not know however if they were solid lifter or not. BG5B 96-97 All engine were updated, and were solid lifter. GT's still had EJ20H's, but they lost the lines on the rocker covers (this is a point of confusion for many). It was also when the GTB was introduced. Manuals had the 206KW EJ20R, auto's however got the GT's EJ20H, which made something like 190KW iirc. BG5C 97-98 Basically the same as the BG5B. I do not know of any specific differences. So again, Manual GTB's got the 20R, everything else the 20H. For both the new and the old EJ20H, they ran grey top injectors. The EJ20R ran yellow top injectors, and the orange AFM. EJ20R's were also paired with the TY752VBCAA gearbox, otherwise known as the V3/4 STi gearbox. In mid 98, the BE and BH came along, and things changed. They moved to phase 2, and suddenly all turbo's had the new type of yellow injecotor, and AFM. There was still 2 types of twin turbo, the EJ206, an EJ208, but that was decided by transmission alone, 206 was the auto engine, 208 was the manual engine, regardless of weather the car was a GT or GTB. Disclaimer: Yes i know you could get GT B-specs for the BG5A's, they however do not have EJ20R's, or anything like that. AFAIK, it was simply an option package GT, that came with bilsteins.
